i'll just post my review here. just woke up a little bit ago - what is there really to say?

i've been to miami 5+ times for WMC and no trip comes close to what just went down in detroit. most importantly, it was amazing seeing and partying with everyone there. i'm not going to name people because i'll forget someone but my highlight was spending time with so many incredible friends.

movement is next level - ace! i will say that the sound situation was meh. main stage was mediocre, especially with ear plugs on. i even heard there were some actual sound troubles during carola/coxy/dice. i guess that's what we get for $100 tickets. also, the yolo stage was what you could hear in "neutral" areas which really set a crappy tone for when you walked around and sat around the VIP area.

all the music was on point! everyone brought it and it was great to check out so many different acts. sunday was too stacked and it would've been nice to have some of the big time heavy hitters spread throughout the weekend but first world problems, eh? carola -> digweed -> richie is the thing dreams are made of (even though i only caught a little of each set, that's just bananas). water was cheap, VIP ticket was well worth it for $150, there was room to dance, no one ever bothered me and the YOLOs minded their own business.

after parties were a blast - lines were long but there's 30,000 people trying to go to like 6 clubs. upset i decided to miss interface because the consensus is that it was next level x100. but good line ups for all the APs and the club were very "detroit" - beaten up, dark and dirty which made for a proper "techno" weekend atmosphere.

old miami was something else - aside from being blazing hot and robbing everyone of any energy left in their bodies, what a party! three was fantastic, martinez bro's rocked it and dixon had school in session. weaved through house, break beat, techno like it was nobody's business. as always, the party was half NYC peeps and was fun to see everyone there. sucks they ran out of that white sangria by 1pm.

3 days of bullting, dancing, drinking and getting down with so many friends is really unbeatable.

as always, with festivals, you rarely get to see a full set because of so many options and looking for friends - but if i have to single out the best i heard, i'd go with:

3. dixon @ old miami
2. saunderson b2b troxlcer @ made in detroit (i've never danced so much in my life)
1. maceo plex @ beatport stage

i tend to rave quite about about the DJs i love (#sorrynotsorry) and if you were around me at all this weekend, you had to put with me going on and on about maceo plex pulverizing movement. these were the scenes:

This was probably the best festival I ever been too WOW. The weekend went by so quick guess was having too much fun. Very nice to finally meet more of you TA's everyone rocked! Every artists I saw did not have a bad set. Beatport,Detroit and Underground were my favorite stages. The main was good just sound was not up to par. The vibe and crowd were awesome its always fantastic seeing people getting down to proper music. Ill rate this festival 10/10. If you have never gone its highly recommended!! :eyes:

After parties were very good also. Did CLR Saturday for Liebing and Flying Circus Sunday. City Club is one bad ass venue love the atmosphere in that place. Next year will try my best to hit more after hours.

Great times!! :eyespop::crazy:

...i decided to miss interface

each one I've seen just said: don't miss any others if you can.
so, not surprised at all about that regret...
c u at next interface

btw, did you ever ID the track at about 2:45 in the 44 video that Drumcell posted on youtube?

Best festival I ever attended BUT I must respectfully disagree with the afterparties. I went to CLR and Interface. First: the music was really sick. However CLR was oversold and too packed. Hot as balls.

Interface at the Works...maybe I'm not hardcore enough. Sick music but the heat reminded me of summer convoy missions in Iraq with full flaks and Kevlar on. Was impossible to stay in the main room. that. Venue was horrible.

But movement itself was amazing... Stacey Pullen on Sat night was sublime. Still in awe. And I stayed at main for the Carola/Diggers/Richie trifecta the next night...Diablo said it best...stuff dreams are made of.

And of course it was great to meet up with so many friends new and old. Can't wait until next year!

The festival was amazing. At least in the States, it's the anti EDC and Ultra. Everyone was super cool. And it was pretty cool, that I could walk to any stage and I would run into one of my friends. Think everyone from NYC was there that weekend.

As a city, there's not much to do or see during the day besides hanging out at your hotel.

After parties were ok. City Club was great. Hot as hell, but I like it like that. But I would pass them all up just to rest up for Old Miami. That was my fav after party. It reminded me of the old Pawn Shop in Miami where they threw the Sunday School parties during WMC.

i heard Sailor & I - Turn Around (Ame Remix) several times from Adriatique, Tale of Us, I think Dixon too

ViciousPanda
I think I also heard coyu remix of bad kingdom a couple of times. Well, twice from Dixon, but I think I also heard it played from others too.

And there was this one techno-ish track with a vocal saying "are you ready" something, or something like that.

what a memorable weekend, it was definitely one for the books.

flying to detroit was a breeze this time, no delays or whatsoever.

the weather was perfect, not a drop of rain during the entire festival weekend. the weather was warm but never too hot or humid.

i can't say i have any complaints for where we stayed during the festival. it was a 10 minute walk to the site and there was 6-7 room of us there so it was always a fun crowd.

the festival itself was amazing minus some of the sound issues some of you has already mentioned. the moog stage needs to be setup at a different angle to reduce the sound leakage to other stages. there were some issues with the sound that could have been fixed easily. but someone did mention that they scaled back on the sound this year, huge no no.

but the dj lineup itself was surely something else. i heard great music at every stage i was at and can't say i was ever disappointed. i tried to check out dj's that i haven't heard yet and i was pretty successful on that part.

friday: checked in to the hotel and spent some time with the crew walking around and scoping the area. spent rest of the night meeting up with friends and got ready for electric deluxe afterparty. it took us about an hour to get in but was well worth it. dvs1 was on the decks and played an spectacular set. i have seen dvs1 numerous times already and that was definitely his bet set yet. i caught one of the vinyl he throw at the audience end of his set so i'll definitely cherish it forever. speedy j came on after dvs1 and stick to his trademark sound. its definitely not for everyone but i just love his sound, especially the way he drops that bass with the xone92 filters. tried to catch a bit of mike denhert who was playing the same time as speedy j. i really wish i stayed until the end by we were exhausted by 5:30 and had to make it back to our hotel.

saturday:
movement: tini, benoit & sergio, damian lazarus, green velvet, tale of us, brian sanhaji, and some hip hop action with riff raff/action branson (best set ever)

what a great way to start the festival. tini was keeping things fresh at the beatport stage as soon as we arrived. benoit & sergio played a live set at the rbma stage and kept things deep. brian sanhaji played an awesome hard live set at the underground stage and this was where i was pretty much destroyed while dancing. i decided to check out tale of us's closing set at the main stage since i never saw them so it was quite a treat. i really like what they do the music by playing many styles of electronic music. i did catch a bit of damin lazarus and liked what i was hearing even though it was for a short amount of time. i got to see catch green velvet's set as the last one since i have never seen him before and was quite pleased. i wish he did some live pa during his set though.

afterparty: clr @ bleu - got there around midnight and waited only 10 minutes to get in. the music all night was awesome. got to see radio slave & dettman b2b, brian sanhaji, drumcell, and chris liebing himself. dettman finished their b2b set with his bad kingdom remix, i was in heaven. sanhaji and drumcell was keeping it heavy at the basement floor (which was never announced so it was a great surprise once i got there). chris liebing didn't disappoint like usual and had to see him since i missed his set at the festival. my only regret is missing function (live) because he played early from 10-12.

sunday:
movement: adriatique, martin buttrich (live), zeitgeber (speedy j&lucy), marco carola, john digweed, richie hawtin.

i have to say this was probably my favorite day of the festival. i got to the festival and went to beatport stage to check out end of adriatique's set. it was only one of them playing so i was bit surprised first because i thought they always dj together (i was wrong) he did play a good set then martin buttrich played a great live set. i loved what he was throwing and was so happy to hear luca bachetti - around the bay (martin buttrich remix). he's quite the talented producer and definitely want to see him at nyc again. i took a little break from beatport stage even though rest of the lineup was amazing: martinez brothers, dixon, maceo plex. went to the underground stage to check out zeitbeber's stage. they don't play togther all the time but i just loved what i was hearing. they kept it pretty heavy but ambient at the same time. it was not quite groovy to dance all the time but it was a great time. i decided to skip the rest of the amazing lineup at underground stage for remainder of the night and made it to the main stage.

i was there for marco carola's set and he sure didn't disappoint. he definitely set the groove right and kept it proper from beginning to end. the crowd was definitely going crazy and loved every minute of it. then the man of the weekend john digweed came on. i had no idea it was him at first because he sounded just like carola for first 20 minutes. the transition was just perfect. he changed the atmosphere all of a sudden and was playing some dark twisted techno yet keeping things progressive. it was definitely my favorite set of the weekend. i was bummed to miss maceo plex's set which was the same time but i could not miss any second of it. went to grab a drink during end of his set and as i came back on music was on another level. i couldn't believe what i was hearing and was amazed how insane things has gotten all of a suddenly. the funny thing is i had no idea it was richie hawtin for at least those 15-20 minutes. richie took it to another level and played an amazing closing set at the main stage. it was definitely the biggest surprise of the festival for me. he has been disappointing for me lately but he definitely showed what he can do at his own city. the visuals were also the best during his set and he definitely played some great tracks. the only one i remember is the new recondite track on innervisions. seeing carola, digweed, and hawtin was definitely the highlight of the festival for me. the way they just played after each other was just flawless.

afterparty: interface @ the works.
we decided to get to the party early since cell injection was playing a early set starting at 12 midnight. we got there pretty quick after the festival and got in without a wait. as soon as i entered the main room i felt like i was in a different planet. the music was UNLIKE ANYTHING i have heard before in my life. it was the hardest & darkest techno set i have heard in my life. just seeing the look on peoples faces was quite something. it was such a great moment looking back and seeing such a big ta crew present at this event. regis played right after cell injection and kept things exactly where they left off. it was my first time seeing regis and sure he did not dissapoint. im not sure if he was playing live or not but i heard some music that i haven't heard anyone else play. it was defintely hard to id anythig that night. during the last hour of his set, function walked in the room. as soon as i saw him approach regis, i was dumbfounded and excited the same time. as some of you might not now, they used to be called sandwell district and have broken up few years ago. as far as i know, they haven't even talked once since their break up. they started chatting a bit then function started to setup. i was so excited at this point and tried to tell all my friends what was going on. sandwell district reunited that night. it was definitely a techno dream come true. i have always heard great things about them and boy it was definitely special. the sound was super good and i was in front of enjoying every second of it. as their set ended i stepped outside for a second and life just felt different at this point. it felt like i was just in a different planet and i was so confused trying to comprehend what just happened. i had a real nice conversation with drumcell about what i just experienced during their & sandwell district set. he got all emotional after explaining how i felt about the whole thing and told us what we saw was history. sandwell district will probably never play together again. i got back to the main room a bit after resting and got to hear oscar mulero's set. i missed his set during the festival so made sure i had to see what he's about. he played a great techno set and loved his energy during the morning hours. i think i was there for a good hour of his set and had to leave close to 7am because i was pretty dead at this point.

monday:
movement: jamie jones, loco dice, jeff mills, octave one

i was pretty much exhausted by this point and spent most of the day sleeping. i missed the old miami afterparty that most of you went but really had no choice. i got to the festival pretty late at this point and decided to check out jamie jones right away. he kept things pretty bassy and groovy during his set. then got to see loco dice and have to say sound wasn't great by that time. and to be honest he was pretty disapointing because i have heard much better from him. but i did hear from friends that he got much better latter part of his set and with carl cox. i made it to underground stage for jeff mills closing set there. this was another highlight of the weekend. the man was relentless and played a legendary set. i have seen him many times before and hes always been one of my favorites. we had a pretty good ta presence for this one and everyone was loving it. it was hard yet melodic techno all night. the techno hammer was definitely on for this one, grown man business all the way. he did also integrate his roland 909 during his set and that is always quite something. NO ONE does like jeff mills. i was into the last hour of the festival and went to detroit stage since i didnt go the entire weekend. i really regret this because there were some amazing music there the entire weekend but its difficult to be everywhere. i finally got to hear octave one's live set. the music was just great. it wasn't hard as i thought it would be but very melodic and soulful. that was a great way to end the festival. i left with all smiles.

i managed to miss the afterparty for monday night. i could barely walk back to my hotel and passed out soon after i got back to the hotel.

movement 2014 was probably the best festival i have attended so far. but best thing for me was being there with all of you (you know who you are). we definitely all bonded at a different level this weekend. i didn't want the weekend to end.

i can't wait for next year all. whos making movement 2015 thread? :)
