Good both days but not worth the $$.. Pumped for next weekend Movement and after hours!! |

Meh? Who the wants to see 9 one-hour sets in one day? I mean, the line-up is stacked, but Digweed for an hour is just a major cock-tease. Same with a lot of DJs on there. I'd much rather see them doing longer sets with less artists.
Edit: Of course the Loco Dice/Carl Cox 3 hour finale on day one will be fantastic. |

Nobody really gets in until around 1-2 so the agents generally won't let you book their guys any earlier.
You'd think booking headliners earlier would lead to crowds coming earlier as well but I haven't particularly found that to be the case :( |

personal experience.
if you add on any AP's (if, lol), you'd get home maybe 7, more likely later.
Getting back to the venue is just not really possible by noon.
Even at camp festis, where you could do this so much easier, and sleep past about 8/9 doesn't work anyway, the early bookings tend to play to very small numbers, people just need to veg out
the first 3-4 hours of Zoo, EDC, etc are just a waste. Plus, you;re locked up inside for a half a day, gets pricey too if you're there from teh beginning.
and of course, 1h sets :( |

the format that EDC NY uses is curious because EDC Orlando has been giving their techno/deep house/house DJs 2 hour sets for the most part. In 2012...Calderone, Carl Craig, Loco, and Richie all played two hour sets. In 2013, Paco, Cassy, Richie all played two hour sets as well and Gaiser played for 90 min I think. Not sure how Day 2 went with Art Dept, Jamie Jones, etc, but I think they got 2 hour sets too IIRC. You'd think they'd format NYC the same way since they're both Insomniac EDC festivals but apparently not.
It's such a waste isn't it...to have that kind of a lineup but only these short sets to give the DJs. If only had they had another stage...the bull music pays the bills though...
If you look at the Beatport and Mainstages at DEMF this year...looks a lot like this stage at EDC NYC...that's how good the lineup is. Gotta admit they got the talent.
Sidenote: why the did Movement only give Robert Hood a measley 1 hour set? I can appreciate them giving Jeff Mills and Chris Liebing three hours but if that's the case then Hood should get at least 90 mintues bare minimum. And I haven't even seen Mr. Hood slated to play any party afterwards... To quote Cris Carter from NFL Countdown...C'mon man... |

well, as an instagram contest winner, seems like I'll be going afterall :)
so, with the AP's well out now and the clock ticking, what have you guys worked up for MDW...
Fri:
Arriving sometime in the afternoon and gonna chill/explore around for a bit, take some pics or whatever. As the day dwindles down, I'll make my way over to Bookies to kick things off. After that, who knows.. can't make up my mind btwn:
- Ghostly 15 (Dear, Adult, and check out the rest whom I'm not familiar with)
- Vibes (Glenn underground, Terrence Dixon)
- Deeplabs & Black Catalogue (Radio slave, monty luke, and luke hess).. this is probably what i'm leaning more towards.
Sat:
- Deep Detroit 6 (mike huckaby, kai alice & jay daniel)
or might stop by Soul Clap jam.. surprisingly, it's quite a decent lineup.
Sun:
- Flying Circus.. only night I've fully committed to at this point and already got tix for.
Mon:
Moring, Old Miami. Then later in the afternoon I'm gonna hit up the Tigers/Rangers baseball game @ 1pm. Chill and check out the stadium for an hr or two and head over to the festival grounds- excited about this, been wanting to do it for the longest.
Night, closing party, I suppose, @ TV lounge- gotta make sure I end up here at least once.
Tues: Slows BBQ!!! |
Saturday: CLR @ Bleu (actually am GLAD this thing ends at 4 am...it's a marathon not a sprint!)
Sunday: Interface 47 @ The Works
Monday: faceplanting onto my bed |
