| Anyone not going to the venue by 1130 when it's someone like Sasha is an idiot. It's not like Guv where there is plenty of capacity to roam in. Tickets probably should have said 1130 12... Tix acting more like a line bypass. When Carola played at Footwork last time, I was at the club at 945. You guys aren't noobs... so don't bitch like one. |

Believe it or not, I care about the Toronto underground scene a lot. So much so that I'm actually trying to prevent stuff that Coda pulls from happening so that it becomes the norm. I'm working for you guys. It's just not right. The tickets they sell are more like guarenteed entry receipts before 12:30 AM. They should just state that you might not get in at all after 12:30 AM, if their plan is to run douchey movements. I personally don't think ticket holders should wait at all at any time but if you're gonna make them purposefully wait, then make em wait for a reasonable amount of time, not more than 2 hours.
Oh and the weed thing?? Yeah I'm sure that's the worst thing going on in the place right? Give me a break...ppl used to run tings at the FW smoking pit all the ing time. But this isn't even about that.

Actually people can 'cry' about it as you put it because they have bloody tix to get into said event, so you should be guaranteed entry. Million people show up, let in the '300 people' they've allowed for at the door and stop the rest and let only ticket holders in after that. You work at this place so you have vested interests...you'll never have to be with us 'common' folk and you obviously work for this place and the promotors and want to continue opening up for acts, so you'll never talk against it as well.
I do feel you're defending this place. It sucks they bring in good bookings, have a nice sound system, and the crowd is awesome that they have to ruin it all with their ty door policy. Like the venue won't give a refund...it's clear they're letting in more people who don't have tix than they should cuz they can sell more drinks at a sooner time and tell everyone else to off and keep their ticket prices.
I don't know if the fault is with the venue or Platform but I'd like to hear from them. Anyone defending what they do, doesn't care about the electronica scene in Toronto or is biased or something with this place and any self respecting DJ who cares about their fanbase shouldn't even play for these guys. |

I showed up at 12:20am with ticket in hand and walked right in. Based on the fact that there was no one in the ticket holder line when I showed up, I have to assume that everyone complaining about not getting in showed up after 12:30. The tickets clearly stated that line bypass would only be granted until 12:30am, so I think the onus for any ticket holder that did not get in rests on the ticket holder her/himself. |

if you buy advance tickets you should get in no questions asked, no reason not to get in...
if the ticket says no line b4 1230... than the ticket holder should not wait longer than 5mins...
its as easy as that...
how about 2 ticket booths at the top of the stairs? 1 for advance tickets 1 for paying customers... all they have to do is scan your ticket and give you a wrist band... done. |

Reiterate about the same night same problem is pointless. If it happens next week, start it up again.
If what I've read is true, anyone with tickets who arrived before 12:30 had none, or close to no issues (besides volume of people showing up at once which we've all agreed is silly).
People who had tickets who arrived after 12:30 when the tickets clearly state, no line bypass after 12:30 and pretty much the ticket is proof of purchase of cover at the point, shouldn't really complain.
People who did wait a long time and maybe left, showed up to an event which obviously going to be busy, more of a concert actually than your average clubnight, and was sold out weeks prior. Go line up for U2, Coldplay or Bieber outside of ACC and then complain to them that you waited for hours in line with no ticket to their sold out event, see how much sympathy you get?
Regarding ticket holders again, I know the capacity is totally incomparable, but have none of you ever been to a concert? Do you wait in line get searched, ID checked and ticket scanned? If you do, do you gripe about on message boards after? It's simple, you show up once doors open and at a reasonable time, you're going to get in smoothly, you show up when EVERYONE else is showing up, you're going wait as all those people get processed and bottle necked entry.
Just because you have a ticket, doesn't mean they should save you a spot in the club all night. At a certain time, (12:30 apparently) they have the right to say, you didn't show up and start letting people to take your spot to the place is full and they make money off the bar. Of course I would expect some leniency from the staff and door till about 1am because, happens, your car broke down, traffic, whatever.
There is ONE double entry door, and stairs to the wristband and ticket window, then there is a small hallways entering the club which meets with traffic coming out from the smoking pits, both bathrooms and coat checks. You can't just let people run up there, there are fire codes.
Unless I'm missing something, like if inside was not at legal capacity at 12:30 and they were refusing entry to ticket holders. But i'm pretty sure they were full well before that, because it was pretty busy when I got there around 11:45. |

Ok.
I also follow Sasha and have for many years now. I know his sound and I found this set to be schizophrenic and completely out of right field. Yes... he dropped some bombs, yes he played his "sound" but it was all mashed up with no consistency at all. I heard some of the tracks he plays out now, but where they were placed boggled my mind. The Maceo Plex track, as mentioned previously was an excellent track and was the one moment I saw the entire room unite with a massive boom... but then he went nowhere again, as did the vibe in the room.
I saw a video posted on Facebook and the front of the room seemed to be in a different party then the rest of the venue. So many confused faces around me, and long time Sasha followers wondering "where he was?!" He had no Sasha moments... he was just there....
So yes, I know his sound - and yes I will go see him again like I always do. I will critic his set whether it be good or it be bad. Again, as people have said, at least he showed up - but if this was the mood he was in he might as well have skipped us and got the party started sooner in LA.
Positive note - first time at CODA and I loved it. Great work. What a fun and energetic space. |
