Thats what a lot of people have said about ferry is he does not have flow for longer sets.. when he played here in calgary i noticed that too and his mixing is average
but if he is playing the tunes that ya love then nothing else matters! and thats what why he is the bomb :)
based on a lot of things said i am not getting a good image of the guv right now
tracklisting anyone? |

hehe I guess some of the pictures will tell the story
I don’t have time for an elaborate review but I’ll just brush up on a couple of key points of the Guv’s 6th year anniversary:
- Dave Seaman utterly destroyed us !
- Ferry Corsten was the biggest disappointment of 2002
I don’t think I was at government ever before 12, so when we got there at about 11 it was so peculiar to see a completely empty dancefloor; it was quite a sight. The setting was sheer class, they did a tremendous job with the decorations and the countless costumes were a really nice touch.
The intro set with Oliver was a delight; all the classics that he spun in my mind were merely foreshadowing the great moments to come with Mr. Digital Punk, but alas it was not meant to be. Mark Oliver has gained my respect last night, it’s a shame that I was saving my energy for the later stages so I didn’t really dance to such an uplifting and energetic set. I really regret that now but it’s good to know that our local DJs can really fulfill our Trance needs to the highest degree. The pinnacle was when he dropped Yves Deruyter - Feel Free! It was brilliantly done, top grades go to Olver.
We proceeded to kool house before Seaman’s set and it was incredible to find so much dancing room right in front of the stage. That’s the very spot where a dozen of tas got absolutely destroyed with the sick, S I C K progressive the man dropped, even LKD was losing his mind to something other than that goa rubbish for once :D. I gave up on progressive about a year ago but after last night I can truthfully say that Dave Seaman resurrected my zeal for this genre. Progressive is the answer; Mecha, what was the question again ? haha
Ferry ? ……………………… hmm
I cannot fully judge due to the fact that I didn’t even witness a full hour of his set however it has to be stated that his opening act sucked some big hairy balls. WTF was that? The mixing was not worth of a world class dj, the track selection was deplorable, what the hell was he thinking?! Due to some problems we had to split early but I had no desire to say whatsoever after the disappointing opening act; I’m sure Punk would’ve lifted my spirits but in general he doesn’t drop that tune until the very end of his sets and due to untoward consequences I couldn’t stay to witness the punk. I don’t think I was ever more tired going to an event either, I have to do some better planning next time…
Nice seeing the numerous trance addicts in the house last night. Nat, huge thanks for the reduced consumption of those sexy smelling cigarettes ;), I really appreciate what you did at the end but it was a cluttered scenario... Amuse toi à Aria ce soir
Trancearmada, u alive hooligan? |

From what I have been reading Ferry didn't really hit it up with everyone like Seaman did.

Well...coming to this party I had a tough dilemma; Ferry or Dave.
Just prior to the party, we decided we go check out Dave Seaman for 2 hours (from 1:30-3;30) then go for Ferry till about 5 and call it a night. I was perfectly fine with that, until we got there.
Got in pretty quick...the line up was moving at a good pace. Have zero complaints about the way the party was organized. Once we get into the Kool Haus, Luke Fair is warming up the almost non-existant crowd. To to you the truth, it was pretty boring...so we headed to the Guvernment, where it was already pretty packed and heard Mark Oliver dropped a sickass set, like he always does (that mix of Flesh he played was amazing!!!) Anyways, long story short...prior to going back to Kool Haus for Dave Seaman, I was having a blast. The definate highlight there was 1998 (PvD mix).
We make our way to the Kool Haus, and wait for Dave Seaman...and wait...and wait...and wait...DJ Three was dropping some alright prog house, nothing spectacular. Finally, around 2:10, I see a bald guy on the stage and an announcer coming on, and announces that Dave Seaman is up to the decks...from that moment on, THE MOST AMAZING set I've heard begun. Classifying it as just "progressive" would be wrong...it was much more than that...it was like dirty-banging-prog-trance-house. Un-in-believable. Every one of the TA's that I was with was having a blast, dancing as hard as they could, all sweating within 15 minutes of Seamans set. The whole crowd was into it. I can't think of any other words to describe it, it was everything I expected, and then A LOT more. And to the TA's that didn't go...next time he's here, YOU ARE COMING.
And then...3:00am rolled around, and we went to see Ferry Corsten (still trying to figure out why I went :(:(:() But anyways, we went back to the packed, hot, humid, sweaty mainroom and Ferry came on right as we came in. He started off with the played out, over-hyped boring Armin van Buuren mix of Seven Cities. I was having enough of the man already, and it was only 1 song into his set. YOu couldn't really dance, just bob your head and feel the water drip on you from the ceiling. It was nice to see that Ferry was really into his set, cause nobody else really was. I yawned a few times, and by his 3rd song, I said this , walked around to look for my friend...and ran into T2B on the patio. Chilled there for a bit...then headed back to the Kool Haus by myself where Seaman was doing what he was doing when we left him.
This man should be arrested :haha: I made it in just in time to hear him drop Underworld - Two Months Off...possibly the Timo Maas mix. ANyways, I started to wake up a bit, but it wasn't as fun just being there by myself, so I danced around for 3-4 more songs and went back to Guv to get Endlesswave (and looked for LKD...little did I know that he was already long gone by that time) and left.
Dave Seaman's set: This tops Sander K's set from August (as I thought it would). It was nice to hear this man live, and even though now I truly regret leaving to the mainroom for Ferry, the stuff I did hear (a good 2 hours together), makes me want MORE. I'm gonna be first in line when he comes back. He is definately getting my vote for #1 DJ of 2002. The only person that has a chance at topping this set, is Sasha himself next week. 10/10.
Ferry Corsten's set: :haha: :haha: I dunno, the beginning was putting me to sleep...the best part was watching Ferry. He was really having a blast, and that was good to see. Too bad I wasn't :( I dunno what score to give it, a 1 would be a little harsh...so 3/10 from what I've heard from him.
and our own Mark Oliver did an outstanding job, like always. 9/10
The decorations were really nice, very well organized party unlike Summer's End. I especially liked the entrance to the Kool Haus, by the coat check, with the female DJ spinning above the entrance. Looks like Charles stuck to his word and did cap it. If Guvernment organized parties like this everytime.....
Highlight of the night: Going up to the front in the Kool Haus, seeing a bunch of the TA's, and all of us, LKD, T2B, Endlesswave, Mecha, E-Master, Hordash, Tatgirl just going crazy together :):):) Arek was missing...where the hell were you man? :conf: :conf: And as for marcin and muneer...next time Seaman is here, you ladies are coming!! :whip: :p |

I almost feel bad (almost) cause I had an amazing time with ferry. Just got lost in the music and my friends were boogeying so hard. Yeah alot of anthems, but its the music that opened my eyes and I danced as hard as I could cause the music was dancing through every cell in my body.
I got to hang with ferry in the booth and that probably helped pumped me all night long. I guess mixing could have been better, but I was loving the tracks that were thrown down.
Plastic Boy-Silver bath
gouryella-ligaya
gouryella-tenshi
This was insane cause I was in the DJ booth for these 3 tracks in a row:
Verachocha-Carte Blanche
Paul Van Dyk - Another way
Binary Finary - 1988
WOW!!!
Viframa-We came
Eon Pocket Damage
Tilt Invisible
As I got there I went to meet Mark Oliver in the Booth and he was throwing down Lost Witness Happiness is Happening - so good.
Great to see TatGirl and Sober Rich, Pepi sorry we did not meet up man, I apologize...we have to do it right next time. Happy birthday again.
Peace,

All I can say.. average night in terms of music. Ferry did start off pretty boring, but the end of his set was great. Hehe, can't go wrong with all the classics can you ?
I checked out Dave Seaman for about an hour. It was allright, but didn't do much for me either. |

ok time for the LKD to speak up
DAVE SEAMAN IS GOD
prior to the derivation of this statement last night, i was in there just for a party.
went as usual with my TA homies (infinity_high and Endlesswave), met up with tatgirl and her friends from pittsburg (if i remember correctly) and loconet and Ben at the lineup...got in within 15 minutes.....yep..was a shocker....
women were nice, some looked familiar
:D :D
i had a little too much to drink but it was the music that ferry dropped that made mewanna leave....no offence to corsten fans... i am a corsten fan myself but i didnt like wat i heard last night
i started actual grooving with the dj who spun before seaman..not sure who... but he dropped some sweet
when seaman hit the desks i didnt want to leave but i left in search of the rest of the TAs to the guv, walked all around the guv room, didnt like it and went back to kool haus. danced all by myself, in lovin every minute of it. There was also a point in time when this dude came up to me and said "man...u and i will be dancing on the shores to this sweet beat"...i was like>>>:conf: :conf: say wha??
anyway..soon forgot wat he said...he disappeared and i was back to normal.....the TA meetup at the acid lounge IMO was a disaster
another time when i went around lookin for the TAs, Mark Oliver dropped 3 Drives on a Vinyl - Greece 2000 (Miro Vocal Mix) which took me to a place i lost way back in my head thanks to the lighting.....
yes that was the peak of the night..i died there...might not seem like such a great thing to any of u, but for some reason it felt heavenly to me....
theres lots more stuff i can say bout last night
Mega thanks:
-to Trancearmada for driving me a distance,
-to Hordash for taking me to the car
-to Emaster for lending me the money...but i didnt use it...thanks anyways..i owe all of u and not to forget mecha for his assistance...
In one line im gonna sum up the night:
THIS PARTY WAS THE MOST CURSED ONE IVE BEEN TO EVER
