I wasn't, we had a pretty ty apartment in Itaewon, 3 guys, 1300 a month, 5k usd dollar deposit. This was in 2008. It is way more now.
Costco was much more expensive than in America. If you eat street food, it was cheap. The street food was awesome, but you can't live off of it.
London isn't a Euro zone. |
Yea, I'm talking purely from a vacationing standpoint, since we did weekend visits in different parts of Seoul.
I know London isn't a Euro zone. It has the pound, which is even worse. Luckily my brother lives there so I have accommodations taken care of if I ever do decide to visit. |

| With a diet of a college freshman who doesn't know how to cook it's a wonder he's not fatter. Microwave burrito, carbs, sugar, saturated fat, rinse and repeat. (Hold the soap). Emotional separation issues more likely the reason for not going. Money is a convenient excuse though. |

Like I said, I don't eat often. I eat maybe 1.5 meals a day averaged out over the week. :p |

| Eating less doesn't mean you won't still be fat. It's so bad for your metabolism. Your liver and pancreas are gonna hate you when you reach your late 30s/early 40s if you keep that up. |

I'm feeing charitable today.
Sounds like he's suffering from chronic depression. Apathetic, lethargic, doesn't care about himself. Probably can't help it... sad when you think about it. |

Well clinical depression runs on both sides of my family, so yea, obviously that is probably a factor.
I take care of myself fine thanks. I work out regularly and it isn't like I am going hungry or starving, I just am the type that is never really that hungry, and I've never been a breakfast person (usually skip it, even when I was a kid). I keep a clean apartment, I sleep fairly regular hours, I get out and enjoy myself with friends, family, and the community and I have numerous hobbies that I enjoy and engage in with other people.
I don't see how any of that would be considered subnormal, beyond the fact that some people have this weird penchant to compare themselves to me in an attempt to feel better about themselves when they obviously have no reason to do that. I am not comparing myself to anyone here or attempting to belittle others, I don't see a reason for doing that (unless it is you IGK, you child rapist, but come on, why would anyone tolerate a child rapist?).
Mostly people seem to think that mentioning the fact that I come from quite a lot of privilege is going to somehow make me feel bad. Obviously it doesn't or I would have left this community long ago. It just pangs of some sort of jealousy which if that is the case is really depressing because most of you seem to have very nice lives where you are doing well for yourselves, and the fact that I live a slightly different way would be something worth annoying you about is pretty sad.
Whatever. Like Jenny said, I get off on the hate, I love attention like that, because frankly it is hilarious. |

My old city was more expensive than Seattle, my current city is in the top 20 most expensive cities in the world. (Mercer's cost of living report)

Open your born loser eyes.
So glad i live in a 3rd world country. |
Berlin more expensive than Munich, Dusseldorf and Hamburg? I highly doubt that.
If it is about the ratio of expenses vs. income (both average) however, then it seems more appropriate. |

| The weather was scorching as we'll this year, and I was told it's usually not like that in D-town. Was sweating bullets at the old Miami , and all of the shade was called for by the stoners . Might do it again this year , will wait on phase 1 , or try maybe another festival , since I. Already seen Detroit , and sight seeing is always a part of my itinerary , since I can't exactly drive to most of these places over the weekend like you guys back east. |

The list has a place in Angola and Chad as being more expensive than Hong Kong. I think that list might be . |

The problem, it seems, is that you take things to the heart. I used to be like this, but life taught me to grow a thicker skin.
If you suffer from depression you should seek medical treatment of some sort. Exercise does help, make it a habit. Keeping a journal helps.
You seem to be well-versed in computer sciences. Try running your own business, it will keep you busy and grounded.
You said you were finishing school, I think that is a waste of time. Get an Associates and start your own business. Keep your skills up to date.
Get a girlfriend or a boyfriend and risk it all on love, why not? Life is short. Make sure you don't take a minute for granted.
Most TAs resent that you brag about being dependent on your parents. While there is nothing inherently wrong, at some point you wAnt to claim your own and this will work wonders on your self esteem. Most TAs work for a living, and others run their gigs like myself. Whatever it is, Independence can be good, make sure you do what you love (if you can). Working for a living sucks specially when you have to provide for a family. You have the freedom to choose...
