well, ummm..im not going to list the million and one reasons why i think panama is it, but the only way you will ever know is if you come and stay here for half a year. Every single person i know who has come down for christmas, or over a month, have NOT wanted to go... But im kind of tired of the tropical/paradise thing anyways, and im pretty sick and tired of the 110% humidity, and 9 months of rain.
outside of panama i have only been to the US, Spain, Germany (twice), Holland (twice), italy (twice), and france (twice) ...and in my opinion, spain and germany are my favorites. Im sure most of the germans are probably grinding their teeth in frustration, and probably think im a moron, but oh well...i really found the country itself (the land/buildings/food/BEER/woman/etc) to be incredible..the only thing is i did not find to many of the germans to be to friendly or open, and the same goes with the dutch. I also really enjoyed holland alot, but i was dissapointed with amsterdam because i found it overated.. all in all i would probably rather just chill out at my friends house in rotterdam and just go up to amsterdam to party/club
spain: this country to me gets a vote because well, its spain and spain RULES...its badass, there is not one thing that is negative that i have to say about it, i had the time of my life there, but as to living, i woudlnt really know..but i have friends who have lived there that all they can say is how awesome it was and how they want to go back.
maaz: if i go to brazil im staying at your place k?:D hah!...i kind of want to head down to south america, i think its about time anyways.. but i doubt i will. |

Each country has some kind of problems. In Canada its the health care system, its going down year by year and gov`t doesn`t even care, soon it will be a health care like in US. Which is second point. Canadeins look too much on USA and stuff, like all those companies from USA come here now these days cause they know its a good market to make money here and the smaller ones companies from Canada get bought out and soon this country will be USA, just it won`t be called USA, but there are speculations already if not to bring the US dollar here. I hope nothin like that happenes here when I`m still living in this country.
Poland, the country where I was born and raised, went thru some many changes went from comunist gov`t to democratic one and now its social democratic, but it seems its tryin to get back to communist one, just ppl don`t want it and they know(politicians) they can`t do that or we won`t get in EU(European Union). High crimes is another problem u can hear all the time if u live there, smugling, drugs, car theft and other basic organized crimes activities. Money is a problem too, alot of ppl are not workin and its hard to find a job, even if u have a degree in some major study. If those ppl moved to Canada they could get any job that is hear probably cause they are so well skilled and taught, but then again its not Canada there. So yeah, but I hope this changes some time soon in the next 10 or so years once we are in the EU.
Greece I heard alot of good things about this country, nice ppl, good economy, fairly good weather, nice beaches, don`t know about the music scene tho. I hope I`ll get the chance to visit that country. My mom used to live there for few years.
I visited Germany, Austria, Czech Rep, Slovakia, and all those countries are nice, just that I wasn`t there longer then for two weeks in none of them, so I can`t judge that much about them. |

...Everyone thinks that their country is so great and the best place to live (especially Australians). Thats just cause its been pushed into your head since you were a small kid...One thing that you notice is that people are so patriotic about their country. Do they ever stop to think about why?
|
now that you've made it perfectly clear you have some disillusioned problem with australians, considering, that in this thread there has been one australian reply, and only about a zillion others saying their country is great, allow me to retort.
why australia rox.
by me.
the principle reason why australia rocks so ing much to live in is the people. we australian's aren't elitist cockspanks, we're very down to earth. we welcome all people from all walks of life to our shores, to enjoy the beaches, the sights, the awesome weather all-year round, the women and the laid back vibe that you can't find in many other countries.
australians also have a very strong sense of loyalty. first and foremost to our mates, and secondly to our allies. in australia we have whats called mateship, and thats an undying loyalty to our mates through the good times and the bad times, a unique australian ideal that has been strongly developed over the past 100 years (particularly through the various world wars and other conflicts). It's constantly demonstrated, for example, every summer. Every summer, bushfires cut through our awesome rainforests and bushland and basically destroyed thousands of square kilometres of land. Many people live on this land, and more often than not their homes, lives and livelihoods are destroyed in a matter of seconds (the time it'll take an aussie summer bushfire to rip thru ya property). in this time, the nation always unites and gives selflessly without thought to support the victims of the natural disaster. on top of this, the men and women of the firefighting services (both full-time, part-time, and volunteer) always display amazing courage and cast aside self-preservation in the face of danger to help out people from interstate, that they don't know, probably will never know, because they know that person(s) would do the same for them if the situation was reversed. aside from this, australia always supports its allies. there's no ing around when an ally needs out help, we simply get in there and get the job done to help them out. it was displayed in the world wars, and in the various other conflicts, most recently afghanistan. do you know why australia (along with britain) are usually one of the first countries to be approached by america in a time of need? it's because we're always there and can always be relied on to do the job to help out our allies in THEIR time of need. this is what we in australia, call mateship.
the (partial) end.
i may just continue to keep writing about why australia rox if you ever try tell me the reason why i think my country is the best place to live is because i've been 'brainwashed'.
p.s. go captilise the letters yaself. |

so does your typed english!
but seriously, you should come to the US and visit Disney's World of Bush, where you get to learn about bushes of the country and world, followed by a tour of George Bush's Magical Kingdom!
then again, what does visiting the US have anything to do with Bush...yea hes our president, and yea youll never see, hear or speak to him if you visit. unless you try really hard i guess, but i doubt that will happen.
sorry for the antagonism...i have to defend my country, if not the idiot in charge.
as for best country...dunno. ive only been to a few - Mexico, Canada, UK, Sweden, Denmark, and of course the US. they all have good and bad points. obviously none are better perse, being that people live in all of them and arent fleeing for their lives.

im going to post some links as to why all you people should get your arses down to panama at once and live it up!! :D well, actually, i only have one link, but from that one link just go to the pictures i tell you to! http://www.helipan.com/english/gallery/index.html
first check out the shot of the city, since panama is cheap as dirt almost anywhere you go you shouldnt have to many financial problems! cops can be bribed also so dont worry to much about legal affairs! Panama has some great clubs, and if you are lucky, usually around once a month we get some international dj or another, ranging from uplifting trance, to hard trance, to tech-house, to prog-house, to everything else, this weekend creamer will be down here!! Also check out the "Escudos de Veraguas (eastern most point)" ...panama has around 200 islands all along its coasts and each one is its own little tropical paradise. "Escudos de veraguas (north)" also has a nice shot. Everysingle photo of Bocas is exactly how that place is, its beautiful beyond compare!! and it has tons of things to do. People from everywhere go there during Christmas/New years, and i have met people from spain, germany, canada,US,brazil, colombia, costarica, and alot of other interesting places there, and the main part of bocas is tiny, but its one HUGE party most of the time, but if you dont want to party in the day you can go swim with dolphins, or go snorkeling, or enjoy some of the awesomest surf in central america. So.............. beat that punks!! :P and any drug you can want in holland, im sure they have it here also, for alot cheaper too:D, anyways, peace.

i was going to say the same thing! what does "who are president is" have to do with visiting this country? i am not going to base my decision to visit germany based on how i view their political leaders or structure! Remember, it won't affect you! chances are if you live there it won't affect you much either. In the last 24 years i've lived here in the US, not one president has made an effect on my life or how i live it. (except of course now b/c i'm in the military - the "commander-in-chief" makes the calls on whether i go overseas or not ;) ) |

I've pretty much been around the block and I'd have to say : Switzerland ...
yet studies and research seems to show that France is the most *pleasant* country to live in.
And I'm saying Switzerland having lived in : France, Germany, Switzerland and USA , oh and I forgot to say right next to the Belgium border ( 2 minutes by foot ).
I've travelled to 25 countries so I've seen a wide variety of situations etc
Another one I'd love to say is Danemark but I don't know the country all that well.
I've been in the USA for one year and I used to come here every other year and living here is definetely not pleasing me : I live in Suburbia; it's boring; people are close minded .... nothing really pleasing.......
so either I move to another big city in the USA or I move back to Europe around march/april/may 2003 to Switzerland hopefully. |

I'm from Northern Ireland, I'm not sure wot ur perceptions of NI are but it really is a beautiful place. We have had our trouble in the past but hopefully we will be able to grow socially and economically. We have one of the best Universities in the UK, Queens in Belfast, some of the most beautiful tourist sites in the world and the people are very friendly. We also have a healthly club scene, we have 4 greats clubs within only a short distance of each other.
I'm not sure if it is the best country to live in the world cause our job market is very small and there is immense competition but it certaintly is an interesting place to be!!!! |
