Spoke too soon, Marcus - she's gone now as well.

Anyway, it looks like Team GB have kicked into gear now and we're assuming our customary place at 3rd in the medal tables. Finishing 3rd behind the US and China (who respectively have between six and twenty times our population) in 2008 and 2012 was a massive achievement. If we do it again it will at least be a modicum of sporting pride to offset our football team's on-going nightmare.

We've got double-digit medals. Yay!

Fear not, Trance-M, I'm sure your cyclists will make Rio's the most memorable Olympics ever!

I'm still in awe that she managed to do this

Read about it earlier today, I was so confused... Anyway, the advice about Russialess sports still stands.

Field hockey has been nothing but awesome this year

Ha ha, yeah, that should be awarded too, her team mate won the gold medal unexpectedly. The British seem to be masters at peaking at the right moment.

Our swimming team also massively failed. Not a single medal since 1992 :(

Unexpected gold medals always are the best. Belgium also got another one now.

Anyone see the 900? Ledecki was so far ahead she was swimming in the opposite direction than the rest of the swimmers. Despite her swimming prowess her teeth still freak me out.

Also, I love that one of your handball players is called "Groot". As much as I know that's just Dutch for "Great", I can't help but imagine this:

Seen the triple jump athletes yet? I'm sure you'll want to jump them thrice :p

Ha ha, cool, yes Groot means Great (Big). Also "de Groot" is well known over here.

In women hockey we have Eva de Goede (the good one) and Ellen Hoog (high (but not by drugs)). Ellen is a real hockey babe :)

Got Bronze in 100m! Which is basically Silver with Bolt still dashing.
