Landlords....WTF?!

Last month my landlord deposited my rent check BEFORE the date on the check, and totally effed me over. This month he still hasn't deposited my check, and Id really appreciate it if he did! Not to mention my new 'lord hasn't cashed my deposit on my new apartment, which he's had for two weeks now.
It looks like I have all this money in my bank account... but actually Im broke. :( |

why did you give him a check before you had the money in your account to cover it? why does it matter this month if he hasn't deposited yet? If you keep track of your true balance you don't need to worry about that kind of stuff. lol... please tell me you are 18 and new to banking or something! |

You're hilarious! No, I use the automatic bill-pay function with my Bank of America account where they have to deliver it by a certain date. the DATE ON THE CHECK was the first of the month. He received it in his mailbox before that date and cashed it. |

Actually I did take it up with my bank and they refunded me the overdraft fee. Apparently they've been having a lot of these problems with a lot of customers. There's something inherently wrong in the system when banks will deposit checks before the date on the check. |

| There is a law that you can cash/deposit check with future date. The minute you give the check to someone you have to have the money on the account |

I once complained and the bank told me the same thing that they can cash it before the date. I keep extra money in my account taking the worry out of bounced checks. |
