REVIEW: WEMF Destiny 10 Year (pg. 3)

so I went to bed at 4:30 yesterday and woke up at 7:30 this morning without waking up once. I feel so weak and sore, and right now I'm sitting at my cubicle wishing I was sitting around our tiki torch just chilaxing with the rest of the TA's I was with at WEMF. Still too tired to write anything just yet but when I muster up enough energy, you'll be hearin from me.

Well, after all of the bitching an complaining, I have to say that Chris Liberator and the Nightmare stage saved my WEMF.
By the time Chris came on , there was room to dance again and it was the kind of poundy screw-your-face up and dance techno that eats little junglist wussies for breakfest.
His extended spinning afterwards thanks to the Unabomber was the icing on the cake. |

Still trying to decide what to make of the whole weekend.
We arrived at the park at about 8pm friday. Police and security were super friendly and we didn't have to wait long to get in thank god because we were scheduled to play on the main stage at 9pm. After driving around the park for about 20 minutes we finally found a decent spot to set up camp, sort of across from where all the Ottawa people were set up. At this point, I was really glad I borrowed a truck for the weekend, because some of the areas were like off-roading! My Precidia would have been killed for sure.
With 30 minutes to go, we left our girlfriends to set up camp and drove back to try to find the main stage so we could set up all our keyboards. The building was chaos. Nobody seemed to know what was the main stage. I think everyone was in disbelief at how small the areas were. How were these rooms going to be anywhere near big enough for the amount of people showing up? Finally found it, did the fastest set up ever, and with no sound guy to be found, we were basically just crossing our fingers that we wouldn't have any trouble when we started playing. Thankfully, the set went off pretty much without a hitch, filled the room up nicely even though it was early. Crowd was quite enthusiastic but man was it hot as hell!!! Thanks to all who came out to see us. Hope we started your weekend off well!
After that, I don't think I went back in the building all weekend, except when I heard some nice Hardstyle coming from the little Tribe kitchen on Saturday afternoon. Don't know who it was spinning, but it was the best music I heard all weekend!
Met a bunch of TOTAs for the first time. Was pretty drunk at the time on Friday night, so I'm afraid I don't remember who exactly it was, except for Hordash! I know you all loved our "Trance Sucks/aponaut.com" t-shirts! :eek: ;) (which we still have a couple left to sell if anyone's interested.)
I've been to every WEMF, and there've been other major problems before, but this one just didn't feel right without the outdoor stages. I think the Afterglow and Nitemare RVs which were off in the campsites really saved the weekend for a lot of people!

Worst WEMF ever. worst weekend ever. worst music I have ever heard. Main stage? where was the trance? Cor Fijneman=terrble, BT was nothing special(where was the live PA?), Orikdea was the only dj I liked. "If" there was a highlight of wemf it would have been when Orikdea played Three drives on a vinyl-greece 2000. I had to pay the bouncer 20$ to get in Saturday night. I honestly can't stand Jungle and drum n bass, this type of music has to be worst music in the world. I would rather listen to anything else. My friends and I had to listen to Jungle 24/7. People were either spining jungle in the camping area or playing Jungle in their car steros. I felt like taking a bat and smashing their car up. This was my 3rd wemf in a row and I have to say it was the worst one by far. BIggest waste of money and time of my life. I will never attend another WEMF ever. I don't totally blame destiny for this. I realize they were screwed with the hole bobcaygen crap.
I give it a 1/10 and im being nice. |

wooo TOTAs reviewing in full force again!
sometimes i wonder if you guys go to these things JUST to bitch about it. There was some good trance. I heard about 5 mins of OS/2's set (sorry man I would've liked to hear your full set but it was a busy time slot) and it sounded very trancy. There were a good handful of trance djs, but the majority was the breakbeat sciences (breaks, juingle, dnb) which I actually enjoyed more :eek:

Glad you liked it! I think we might be playing another Darkrave in the near future, but I don't think anything's confirmed yet. I'll post details as I get them! :)
The set that's up on our site now is still last year's WEMF set. Some of the songs are the same - some were remixed, some not. There's also a few new tracks in this years set. I'll be putting it up tonight!

Alright, here goes the first Review.
First of all, TA's made this party happen. It would have sucked if I never met up with everyone. Went to the meetup, met with GT Trance and hung out. Noone even showed up
PS> The only TA's I saw were Swamper (I called out his name on the Cor set! he was standing there all cool !) and someone of you people who put a TA sign on the 2pm bus...

Yeah that was me and GT. should have knocked. We got there around 6:30 from the 2pm bus. it was a total waste. Wasn't going back on the bus for sure. Everyone got drunk and wasted. Wondered around for like 2 hours to find ppl. we gotta get better planning to meet, there are a hell of a lot of others there and yeah im glad I found ppl, sorry to provitex, you experienced my worst nightmare.
Lineup: Friday/Sat
Aponaut - Wow. Crazy stuff. never expected it, loved it. What a way to kick off the night. Sorry didn't catch ya when you can by the tent for an interview after. We had already started to party hard! Shirts = ing awsome!
Jon the D - got an interview from the show. Massive set. probably my 3rd fav set of the entier night. Very nice! Great guy to chat with.
Dragonfly - That guy has some massive energy. Fun to watch. wicked stuff.
St. Pete - All i can say is massive. He played amazing. Dropping his own tunes and all. But being shut off, facking waitress. They opened the room like 30 min after. I was about to sock her. Thanx for chilling with us at the tent afterwords
Dave the D - Not bad, not my styles.
Sat we just chilled the afternoon, was nice to kick back and relax meet new ppls and all.
Lineup Sat/Sun:
Dr. Trance - i was suprised to see him there, being so old lol. But it wasn't bad. slower then everything else so it kinda stuck out. He played staisfaction which, if tatgirl and the others at the camp remember, was already played 15 times that day, it kinda turned me off.
Cor F - First of all, top class m8. spent a good 20 min just chatting with him before he got on and all. Was very nice guy. Good interview for the show too. HIS SET WAS AWSOME!!!!! MADE WEMF FOR ME!

I dont know what set you were at, but if he wasn't there, i would have said the same things you had said earlier. I asked him about the Andain remix, but i forgot who it was. And when he dropped Sensation 2003 and then ATRC....WOW!
ps. Flash, you post yet??? hahaha. The look on Cor's face when you gave him full chest was AMAZING!
BT - Crazy stuff. Was very interesting to see it all. Blur - song 2 and then Nervana - Smells like teen spirit (i think that was played). were massive and the like 20 min mix of Dreaming....kept me shouting it at the top of my lungs.
Orkidea - Again, another top class guy to meet and chat with. Waiting on hearing that new mix. His set was good. though as tatgirl pointed out...ID was tough. Wicked guy.
Mike Schryer - Pleasure to meet you, pleasure to hear your set. Listening to the Demo right now at 2pm oin monday afternoon after 16 hours of sleep. Im ready to go again. my neighbours already called! Your a wicked guy on you way up, and I hope that you do make alot of people happy cause you did and are still right now. Trance 4 Life :)

Heat - Yes damn it was hot inside, Very good.
Garbage - There sure was a hell of a lot of it, but the TA's did clean up the main site VERY well. Congrats on all there. :)
Facilities - Yeah well what can ya do if ya get pushed inside. I almost knicked over the fridge in the "Tribe Tent" and it could have fallen on mike. opps. lol. For Lost Witness, the floor was still moving up and down
Drugs - yeah they were out in full force, but there was nothing much the cops did about it. I wasn't even serched because i was "Media" lol. Though i dont do anything and never touched a single thing. *Big Smile*
Crowed - Nice from the most i heard, Polite. had a few ppl just drop in to chat, Was VERY interesting to meet them.
DEMOS! - I know i gave out a few of them to people, I will hopefully find a hosting site to host the demo and have it uploaded. If you wanna drop me a line of what you think. GREAT!
Radio - Ill learn the date for the review show tonight. Ill post it here around 7pm. It will be the 4th or 18th from 6-7 on CFRU 93.3 FM or amplifiedradio.com. Ill record it aswell.
Overall, id give the weekend a 7.5 or 8 out of 10.
Well see if there is one next year! and hope to be spinning there.
