REVIEW: WEMF Destiny 10 Year (pg. 8)

First I'd like to point out three things that might explain some of the bitterness/downishness that happened this year.

1) Outdoor music - they were informed on Thursday that you can have it, if you applied for the outdoor music permit... 120days in advance of said event. Otherwise, party=raided/shutdown.

2) Lineups for indoor - yes, it sucked, and reminded me of the moshpit @ Molsons Park, or better yet an animal paddock, however in a 1200 capacity building I'd rather not die a la Chicago, and make the news. (I'll get my 15minutes elsewhere, thanks)

3) The ppl bitching about the girl getting taken away in an ambulance Sunday morning, should be ashamed. "Oh, it ruined my high/day" She had an attack of epilepsy you asses, and was drug free. take you're pathetic assumptions/selfishness and choke on it.

Well, now that's outta the way, my review.

Basically, yeah, I got my bitching outta the way Friday afternoon, and since ppl seemed to be afraid of the music centre Friday and most of Saturday, it was dead, and even though it was hotter than ComfortZone on Sunday Night, still empty, with plenty of dancing room on that sweet ass hardwood.

Partied problem free until I dealt with the lineup around DJ Rap's set Saturday night, and although I felt like I was in a trash compactor, hitting the patio was such a relief, I took that happiness and cranked it up all night, not stopping until around 10 am sunday, @ which point I found my friends, chatted and drank, and slept a few hrs before the dreaded drive home.

Yes, the music rooms were kinda ass, but the camping/social aspect kicked the crap out of sunstroke Bobcaygeon. With the postive community reviews, especially from the locals that showed up with their kids, and the business that profitted nicely (subway ran outta suplies lmao) has pushed the Mayor into the re-invite. With all the time in the world to make the appropriate permit aplications.

Next year will have the 24hr potty patrol and outdoor music like Bobcaygeon if they do return, since they will be able o plan for this site.

All in all, a good time 4 me muhahahahahaha

ps Supa thanx to the TAs that made my Saturday/Sunday.. Tommy, Erika, Julia, Dallas, Nadia, and many more, and tha Supafriends crew that I went with.. a weekend not to soon be forgotten (well, if I still have the braincells to store the data)

^^^^^^^^Did we meet????

PS. How do you know that the locals loved us there. From what I heard, they couldn't wait for it to be over.

Does anybody know what was up with the Numba3 cube van?? Was it located on park property because it certainly didn't look like it. It was parked on a patch of grass in front of someones house/trailer. They kept on bringing out garbage bags and asking people to pick up there trash (and rightfully so) Just wondering what the scoop is on that

! Dude, that guy was the funniest ever on the bus ride back!
If I am speaking of the right person, he should have been the one to sit behind the bus driver (no shirt) plus documenting the trip! lmao!
Crazy! It was nice to see you bro!

Some how some one found out about a secret entrance into the main room so they all went up except for me.

Just currious. Are we talking about the one:

downstaris, if you go down the hall thrue the door, turn left, straight.., turn left, and up the flight of stairs then turn right and into the hardcore rooM?

blah blah..but that door was closed during Dj Rap set!!! And none of the bastards was willing to open it. so we went back to the line!

It was weaker compared to last year, nonetheless wemf always = good times!

It started out pretty bad as my buddy massacred his brand new Mitsubishi so I ended up driving to wemf; we were supposed to leave at 4, we left at 9; we headed to wemf without a tent due to a few little mix-ups; we got $50 worth of Heineken confiscated at the entrance & we finally ended up cruising around the site for 1/2 hour in the dark looking for a spot to park and 4 fux sakes even the Bosnian mountain roads would be gentler on the car than some of the passages at that camp.

After that everything went pretty smooth, we caught the end of JtD’s set, the a bit of Drag n Fly, St. Pete, Boogie & the rest here and there all until the man I anticipated the most on Friday came on, Dave the ing drummer! Since the amount of techno DJs was quite scarce I had to rely on only a few to kick my ass with some twisted banging beats and oh boy did he ever deliver. It took me a while to get really into it but as the set progressed the muzik was getting more twisted and much dirtier & I was loving every minute of it. Kraft Kuts came on after and put me to sleep so I went to crash. Thanks to RyanM (THE LEGEND) the chief ta camp manager, for the tent!

After getting a few hours of sleep (I think?) I went to check out some techno talent in the Tribe room and the DJ on the decks went by the name of L-train. Now heads up, Toronto has itself an up and coming Techno weapon! It’s a shame that there weren’t even 10 people in the room to enjoy this set because it was absolutely banging! Then again you have to realize that the 10 people scenario was in all the rooms pretty much until the evening, which was a shame really. I got L-train’s demo CD blasting right now with a multitude of Beyer and Carola tracks, sheer quality! I’m looking forward to hearing this man in the future.

Saturday night started with a bit of Greg Gow in the main room, and trust me L-train’s set puts him to shame; then came on Kenny m*(%$in G! I was supposed to be saving the energy for later but it’s just impossible to stand ill when this badboy is in charge of the operation. Due to extraordinarily excruciating heat in all rooms we didn’t go back to the front until Cor’s set. First time I heard Fijneman and he absolutely delivered but the experience was tarnished a tad by all the essential trips between the main room and the patio due to unbearably high temperatures. I parked myself beside the biggest attraction @ wemf, the tiny useless air conditioner and tried to survive the pitiless sauna. Then came on BT :: holy futebol did he ever put me in heaven. That was the most original start to a set I’ve ever heard! The climax was approaching as he dropped that never-ending Dreaming rmx, what an euphoric moment! Once you though you heard it all he comes back with vengeance to massacre us all >>> FLAMING JUNE! I absolutely lost it there; I think I was jumping on everything and everyone that was in my vicinity, that moment made my whole year right there, pure bliss! Orkidea takes over then and propels us all on an exquisite trance in yer pants journey. You are exhausted, you are boiling but you just have to groove to the poignant rhythms! It was 4:30 and it was time for the UK acid techno chief to take care of business. You gotta love how he does his job behind the decks. I’m glad his set wasn’t as acid as last year because it’s not totally my style of techno so I used my last resources of nrg 2 dance it off and then headed to the Tribe room for a hard twisted trance fix. It was a pleasure to see a familiar face providing steady rhythms to a room full of amazing party people. Good demo CD mate, I’m enjoying it a good deal!

We went back for a little nap around 9 am, little did I know that I’d wake up at 4pm. I didn’t’ get the chance to pick up my stuff Ryan, sorry bro I’ll swing by one of these days.

Overall it was a solid weekend, met a slew of new faces, it was a pleasure to party with some amazing people, Trance Addicts make the parties! 360 days to go!!! I'm lookin 4ward to this weekend too, it's gonna be intense!

Cheers
