In case a few of you were not already in the know, I just wanted to clear up this outdoor sound issue...

Basically if we could have done ANYTHING to have outdoor stages, we would have. The local by-laws in that town do not allow for outdoor entertainment without a special permit - and that permit required a 90-120 day application period. The indoor version is much easier to obtain and thats what we had. The reason we did not have time for the oudoor permit was because of the late venue change in June. When we first designed the new flyer we thought we could at least have outdoor music till 11pm but we were informed a week out that even that was illegal and we could find ourselves in court or even jail if we didn't follow the rules. Having gone through that a few years ago, I definitely did not want to experience it again! We posted this fact here and on other website in the lead up to the show so that people would be aware in advance.

Reading through the posts and emails about the show its clear that the vast majority had an absolutely phenominal weekend as did all the talent and the people behind the scenes. We appreciate your support and certainly hope to continue doing this show into the future!

Believe me - this outside stage problem will not be an issue next year. The mayor of the area and OPP have already both said they liked the event and would like to see it back there next year. WEMF2004, here we come!

That's good to hear! I'm looking forward to actually making it out to next year's WEMF.

My WEMF???
Well, my girlfriend and I got up there at around 4pm Saturday and within 2 hours I was able to find all my friends and TA's. So now after seeing so many sketchy people and those with no sleep, I felt a little weird being sober, so I proceeded to get piss drunk until about 10pm and did so sucessfully. Between 10-12pm i wanted to catch Kenny Ken and Dj Rap, but getting in that mess was really difficult at the time, so back to the tents until it's Trance time. At around 12:30 or 1am we got back to the hall and instead of waiting in line, one of my friends bribed the security and we got in just in time to catch Cor Fijneman's set.
Cor Fijneman started his set off banging hard, and kept the energy going through out his set. One of the highlight tracks of his set was definitely Scott Bond vs Solarstone - 3rd Earth (Marco V remix)!!! Cor's set was definitely the mood setter for the rest of the night! Thumps up!!
The next set that I managed to listen to was Orkidea... now to give this guy a bad review would be impossible... this was the 4th time I saw him, and he proved once again how great he is behind the decks. One thing i always liked about him is how he plays alot records that no one knows... there was one song that was amazing and I was talking to Fijneman and both of us wanted to know what track he was playing... which I think he said was, 3-2-1 - "revelation"??, anyways great track!!! Orkidea = untouchable.
Last Set I listened to was one of our own TA dj's playing in the Tribe room.... SCHRYER! Mike ripped it up for his first gig out, and did the job, even managing to still play through the beginning of his set with a badly set up 1200 that kept skipping. Mike Schryer played a hard banging set that had the TA's in all smiles. One cool skill that he pulled off that I thought was cool, was when he slowed the record right down, and then sped it up only to have bang out at the right time!!! Good job... we have to see him at systems!!!

One thing i especially liked about WEMF this year was the TA's there in attendence... you all definitely made the whole experience turn out so much better!!!
I would also like to thank Destiny and Temporal Rhythm for bringing such great class acts to wemf this year.
Even though the venue (the indoor halls) was not that good, I still enjoyed my self, and by 8:30am my wemf 2003 was over and I was on my way home.

Ratings:
Set's that I saw: 7.5/10
TA Vibe: 10/10
WEMF Overall vibe: 6.5/10
Venue (the campgrounds): 9/10 (I liked the fact that we could park on site, and not to mention... there was a lake!!)
Venue: (Indoors) 4/10 (better than nothing, but WEMF needs to be outside!!)
Will I go next year... maybe

Shouts to all the TA's that I met and already knew... you guys kicked ass!!!
