Actually, I was quite nervous about driving him home. I was afraid he was going to freak out about it, considering there was 3 days worth of camping stuff for two people in the car, me, dustin (who takes up a fair bit of room), BT, his dog, and all his PA equipment.
All I have to say is this. I could have doubled him to the airport on my mountain bike and he would have had a blast. BT is hands down the nicest person I have ever met in my life. Extremely well educated, extremely politically active and never once did he treat me like he was better then me. For a ride home that could have been a horrible ride home if it had been certain drum and bass DJ's (see Tack One's review), he made the weekend for me. He loved WEMF and said if he ever comes back he is brining his tent instead.
As far as BT picking up the huge moths (and they were HUGE), when I asked him about it he said:
"I felt really sorry for them. They fly around the lights and get extremely confused because they think its the moon."
He kept picking them up and placing them on the generator so that none of them would get stepped on." |
Omfg!!
I wish I could have been in that car!!!!!
Serious, I know how cool BT is as a famous guy, **VERY** nice/cool person! geezz.....I woulda been in that car forever as far as I'm concerned!
he's not my idol for no reason! |

! Dude, that guy was the funniest ever on the bus ride back!
If I am speaking of the right person, he should have been the one to sit behind the bus driver (no shirt) plus documenting the trip! lmao!
Crazy! It was nice to see you bro! |
Hmm you're probably thinking of someone else because DJ Ampz hitched a ride back to Toronto with me. |

I like wemf because of the Chaos, getting dirty and the fight for a good time. It's the craziness that drove the rave spirit in the first place. the knowledge that at anytime the party could either be busted, ruined by weather or the power going off.. but none of that matters, cause to me. wemf has always been about weathering the storm! Nothing is fun unless you have to work for it and also get dirty in the process.. otherwise you'll spend the whole weekend worry about if your cloths look clean.. or if your hair is perfect.. etc..etc.. once your dirty! you let it all go and then you start to have a blast! |
Couldn't have said it any better myself :)
The party was whatever you wanted it to be. If you didn't like the heat you could live with it and experience the rush everytime a huge buildup broke out and everyone went nuts and the floors began sinking beneath you...or you could go back to your tent and miss everything.
But still the lineups sucked :p ...it only took about 15 minutes for me to go through tho but i missed some of Rap's set ( :( ) and part of Cor's set
Thank You Destiny! This was one of the most memorable experiences and I'll never forget it :D |

Finally enough energy to muster up some sort of confusing mess of a reply
I had an amazing time at WEMF. This was my first WEMF ever and as such had no expectations. Got a ride up from Nadia (Rich’s friend) We didn’t end up leaving the city until 3:30 even though Carlos was planning on leaving at around 9 am(!&@#&(@#. Oh well we still got there. Getting through the gates was relatively painless, under the watchful eyes of approx 40 OPP officers with a trailer, we were asked a few questions, had a trunk searched by security, given our wristbands and were off to our site. Only took 5 minutes. Not too bad in my opinion.
So we found Carlos and Corrine by a small patch of grass beside the road. I couldn’t believe how many people were there already. I didn’t think that we were going to have enough room for us to set up the 6 tents that we had but with a little car movement, we had them up in no time, with room to spare.
Review of Music/DJ’s on Friday night.
Started off the night listening to a little Aponaut. His set was rocking. Definitely a good way to kick off the start to a good weekend. We went back to change as the rooms were a just a little warmer than expected (fyi – this is an extreme underexageration) We then followed up the night with an awesome hard set from Jon the Dentist followed by a wicked set from St. Pete. I have never heard this guy before but he definitely get the crowd working. Too bad his set was cut early……stupid bartender. This problem was resolved quickly after Time2Burn and myself decided to inform event security what was going on. We went back to our site for a little while and little to my avail, st. Pete was sitting right next to me and I didn’t even know it. We went back to the main room to catch a bit of Dave the Dentist (as for some reason I like to call him that all night) hehe and he followed suit with many of the DJ’s this weekend, very hard and loud sets. After his set, I figured Nat and crew would be arriving so I thought that we would go and see if we could find them. Perfect timing they were being searched as we came out the front door. Showed them to our site, got settled in and then went back to the party. After a bit of aimless walking around, we headed down to the beach during sunrise and followed up by going to the tribe room to Darryl Hicks spin some ‘slow trance’ I left that party because I was intrigued to hear Palladin 5.1. well was I ever disappointed, I maybe stayed in that room for all of 15 minutes, but it wasn’t until after that I heard that none of the components required for his show were not met because the organizers wouldn’t allow it to be set up. So until next time. I finished off my night with a little funky house from Mifody who had me dancing until 8:30 when my legs felt like they were going to fall off.
Saturday
Spent most of the day just chilling around the campsite, meeting new people, enriching the friendships with people I already knew. One thing about WEMF was that I found that there was a better vibe outside of the main complex. This was definitely a hang with your friends party. Checked out the Numba3 cubevan a few times throughout the day as well as the Afterglow and Darkrave bootleg setups. These outdoor stages I think definitely saved the party. Finally made some burgers after using an entire bottle of lighter fluid and poisoning everybody with the fumes. They weren’t too happy with me but then got over it when I gave them a hamburger. The rest of TA gang showed up in the late afternoon and early evening. It started to rain so I decided to catch a few ZZZZZZ’s before the big night out as I was really tired.
Saturday night Review.
Started off the night to some pounding house compliments of Kenny Glasgow. Hatiras followed up suit with some more funkier house but I heard rumours that Kenny Glasgow was going to be spinning at the Numba3 tent so we went to check it out, although he never did end up playing. Exhausted by this point, I decided to head back to the camp for a bit, just to get my last grab at a nap before we headed out for the rest of the night, and to no avail, I got none. Was hanging with Az under the awning of our tent during the rain when everybody else showed up.
Rumours started pouring in that they weren’t letting anybody in to the mainroom/lounge area anymore as the fire marshals were there and it was over capacity. We all thought, “great here we go” So we decided to head over to see the end of Raps set but we couldn’t get in. Some how some one found out about a secret entrance into the main room so they all went up except for me. Didn’t want to go into the crowded room just yet. Decided 5 minutes later to go up only to be stopped by security and almost thrown out of the park for trespassing. Just my luck. Managed to talk my way out of it, but then had to get in the line. After an hour and a bit, I finally got it to catch the last half of Cor’s set. It was fantastic. I believe it was he who dropped M.O.R.P.H – Consequence in the middle of his set, only to be followed by TUNE after TUNE after TUNE. He finished off his sets with Motorcycle – As the Rush Comes and I think that the entire crowd went bezerk. This was definitely the highlight of my weekend. I have never felt such a euphoric feeling go through my body. I actually had goosebumps. BT followed with an unbelievable remix of Blur Song 2 which I thought was going to bring the building down…..and then when you think I couldn’t get better, he dropped what seemed to be like a 20 minute mix of Dreaming. I was in absolute heaven.
I didn’t see BT leave as I think I was outside ringing out my shirt, but went back in to catch a bit of Okidea’s set but had to leave so I wouldn’t miss one of our own….Schryer in the Tribe Room. This was definitely one of the top moments of my WEMF experience. Mike you were unbelievable….definitely a great set.
Other highlights
Camping, camp fires, fireworks, lake, very relaxed security and police, quick entrance, weather,
Negative aspects,
Small rooms, too hot, no outdoor main stage….that is all.
Can’t wait until next year
