I'm not arguing with you, but it pains me every time I hear people say what's in this quote. Not everyone who drives Japanese cars are "riceboys". I'm not saying there's anything wrong with American cars (I'm a huge fan of the Pontiac Trans Am). In fact, I'll be the LAST person to claim a Honda Civic as the be-all-end-all of automotive performance. (Even the rather overrated Si) I'm just saying that if more people liked fast cars because they're fast cars and there was more respect for a well, tastefully, and uniquely modified vehicles (no matter the make or model), the world would be a better place. :)
*whew*
P.S.
And don't worry... ricers piss me off, too. ;) |

| I work at a bodyshop for a Porsche/Audi/Volkswagon/Nissan/Mercedes/Volvo dealer and I'll have to say that the new Volvos are actually nice cars. (I wouldn't exactly say 'sporty', though.) ;) |

For reliability never, NEVER buy American.
I rather buy brand new jap or euro over any american car. |

If you work on them hard enough you could get them sporty...;) I just love Volvo S60...I don't know what car I'll be driving when I finish studying, but if I had a fulltime job today I'd definitely go for the S60...maybe S80 or V70... :eyes:
And what's best of all...the original soundsystems of the new Volvo's, such as mentioned, are seriously breath taking! |

Sweet.
Aren't S60s the ones they use in sedan racing? (SPEED World Championship, etc.) |

First off there are many more Japanese cars that are very well made machines, especially a tuned RX7 dare you forget, or a done up Nissan 240sx-180sx-Silvia. I am more biased and love Euro tuning and like to be different hince why I used to have a 1992 Nissan Maxima 5-speed fully modded that roasted lots of cars, and now have a BMW 735i that is getting a 5-speed swap and bi-turbo setup ASAP. As for American cars, old skool muscle cars I have a lot of respect for but what ever happened to the American Musce car? Yeah the Shelby Cobra, old GT 500 stang, and yeah yeah the Viper (which can't stay together in races for the most part). Lest us not forget also Honda's rep on the F1 racing circuit sucked till last year when they got there scheit together. sorry I am very opinionated, and am sick of seeing FWD cars trying to be made into some super car since FWD simply don't hookup. Do it right with a RWD, AWD, or 4x4 drivetrain and save yourself the trouble of making your cheap as rustbucket Civic, Cavalier, or other FWD sport compact attempt to hook-up worth a piss after you waste $10,000+US.
Again just my opinion from having owned a FWD (front wheel drive) and from modifying cars now for going on 8 years.
Jared :)

American cars do the quarter mile in 2.4 seconds at 330
you just cant get 5000hp out of a 4 banger, im sorry
If you are looking @ all around driveability, then look at the World Rally Championships. That combines everything a car should be into 1 package...dont see honda or acura in there either...
ok what about luxury cars like porches and vettes and ferraris? stuff like le mans and GT tours...oh I think Acura is in 1 of those.
Japan makes virtually nothing that excels in multiple categories...
yeah yeah, Nissan Skyline. Toyota Supra. Not impressed. Two cars in the entire history of Japan.
they are econo cars, plain and simple. You can spend a lot of money and make them worthwhile, true. but the money will do better things in better cars. |

Now to answer the original queston... American vs. Import!!!
American - ONLY if it is OLD SCHOOl (i.e Gt500 Mustang, Shelby Cobra, etc)!!!
Import - ONLY if it is stylish and RWD, or AWD (i.e any BMW, Porsche, Lotus, Ferrari, Lambo, Subaru WRX STI, Mitsubishi Lancer Evo lineup, Benz, VW group 4motion - Audi Quattro setup)
My personal preference will alwys be European or HIGH end Japanese cars that are 5-speeds an either RWD or AWD as the European especially usually have more options and luxury features then the other two and let's face it even since Daimler has taken over Chrysler, and Dodge the CRAP FORWARD oops I mean cab forward design of those god awful dashes that go for days is piss poor, and Chevy still makes crappy interiors.
Again my very biased opinions only, as I am very opinionated when it comes to cars as it is a HUGE part of my life.

Ditto... s60, c70, 760, 850r, 850r t5 that is it for the Volvo lineup. Old 740, and 240 sucked! Overpriced rustbuckets with horid interior, and no power!
