well why bring that up. if you want modern look at the ford gt40, the Saleen mustang s7 (youve probably never heard of it, shockingly), the 2002 cobra type R, and the 2003 mustang coupe.so i obviously wasnt using the SRT-4 as the newest and brightest star of the American automobile.

Now the Srt-4 has a 2.4 litre turbo 4 putting out 215 hp, while the Spec - R with its 2.0 litre turbo 4 absoloutly s over it by putting out 247hp.

wanna hear something even more ridiculous? the American WRX beats the out of the sylvia in quarter mile, and the srt-4 beats the wrx. explain that little bit of math for me. you can download videos.

(gotta love the SR20DET So, you have an extra .4 of a litre, and are down by 35hp....what's with that ? :conf:

youre "confused" because youre a ing moron

The Srt-4 uses a cheap 5 speed transmission, while the Spec-R uses a 6 speed

holy , you didnt just use the gear numbers as a price thing did you? you ing did didnt you? ever heard of a muncie 3 speed? wow, refer to the last line of my post please, i didnt realize you were this full of .

now ill just hand things over to someone i found summed the car up pretty well

you would have to because you couldnt find your ass with both hands. PLus...that car is...(drum roll) MORE ING EXPENSIVE!!! ohh , what do you know? A more expensive car is higher performance...but wait, according to your logic, a well enough rounded type R should be able to beat any other 2.0 litre engine right?

...you know what, im done. youre almost as stupid as that other dumbass.

It's a shame that americans make the world 's fugliest cars.

In terms of style: Jap cars >>>> American cars.

If I wanted a car to show off by its brand name, it'd be a BMW or Mercedes.

My family has owned 3 American cars in our history living here. They were Chevy Astro van, Ford Crown Victoria, and Lincoln Navigator. The cars we have right now are all imports: Honda Accord, Acura TL, Toyota MR2, Honda Civic, Mitsubishi Eclipse GST. Now when it comes to reliability, we haven't had a problem with any of our imports. I would have to say that I can't stand the interiors of Fords. Whether it be the Mustang or Focus. It just looks so cheap to me.

The 05 Subary Legacy looks mighty good though :)

 You've got your moms knickers in a knot. I'm talking about the S15 Silvia Spec - R, and it was never released in the states. For the extra $2000 you had to pay for it back in 2001 when it was released, it would have been one of the fastest production cars around the $20,000 price range.

2.5 years later(it was released in 2001), I'm sure you could import one for $15,000, wack a big intercooler on the front, raise the boost to run 16psi, and you're running 12 second quarter miles for $20,000

and you think you make such a valid point about the mustangs and whatever other pieces of you americans call cars. well there's a 500kw street legal skyline GT-R v-spec for sale here down the road for $AU42,000 ($US20,000) and it runs 10 second flat quarter miles. Beat that

Not to mention Mazda RX8 I believe, that has a wankel engine and is capable of squeezing out 250hp out of a 1.3l engine.

i wouldn;t bring the rotary into this discussion, as people are going off about engine size and bhp per litre, and i'm sure a certain person wouldn't like that :toothless But lets not forget the big power RX-7's out there! :D

I did a bit more research on my dream, and getting 400bhp out of a 2l engine and with a curb weight of around a tonne, i would be making many italian and german car owners cry :stongue:

rotary ... in every race with wrx, lancers, skylines, and rx7s the two AWD cars win, then skyline then rxs. these are the jap races so they are using all the gts spec stuff. rx is a great car, and rotary engines are great, but the package doesnt match up yet.

This is what I learned.

Of the American car that you are getting is not one of those luxury/expensive american cars, then I guess it;ll be better off investing on a Japanese Car. Ofcourse, everything depends on what purposes you are using the car.

I lend myself tours the Imports all the time.

This is how I see it.

American Cars:
Generally the american trucks are the good ones, ofcours nothing will beat Land Rover/range rover. But still, American trucks are one good piece of thing to have last forever. Lowdown: They suck up all the gas there is to exist for the next couple of years, this american trucks suck gas as if it was air.

American cars are generally made to last a certain amount of years, while Japanese cars can run with 300,000 miles and will still run as if it was new. if you know what I mean.

Hondas, to me are the best cars there is. Reliable, they last, economig, and you can turn them almost into anything you want. And you can see that Honda has been on the #1 spot for more then 10 years on the Annual selection of Car and Driver among others. take into consideration that Acura's have a Honda motor. Acura's are just as good.

I find Infinitys good also, nissans aint that bad, I used to have a nissan and had NO problem.

Toyota's: Although I dont like Toyota's, this cars are just as competitive as Honda's.

VW: VW with Diesel engines, tahts what I would invest my money on when I purchase my next car. This cars are goooood ! Im telling ya.

Ofcourse, if we are going to talk about racing cars and muscle cars. There are the old mustang classics or corvettes or vipers. But come on, its rediculous to compare a Viper to a Honda?!? jeez.. Viper is a 50,000 dollar car and honda is a 15-20thousand dollar. Its to be expected from a 50,000 dollar car or more to be faster. Right??

European cars..I wont go there, this cars have quality written all over.
Citroens, Peugeot, Alpha Romeo, Aston Martin, Porche.. come on, American Cars will fear this.. they FEAR! If it werent for the gov't regulations, Im sure that the american cars would be sucked on by all the cars I mentioned.

And Yes, Ive owned Fords, Chevrolets, and Dodge. Dont ever invest on a cheap car from any of those brands. If you are to spend money on an american car, like I said, do it on the expensive ones, but, when it comes to choice in cars overall.. Id go for the Japanese/europeans anyday.

apostrophe
right now, i'm all for American cars. I'm in a 2001 mustang GT, convertable. :)

but, there is nothing that replaces a Euro Sports car.

Japanese cars? that's something my parents would drive for its 'reliablity..'

ok.... i think the reason american cars, have this "cheap" tag attached to them, is the low cost, POS usa cars, are made in quanity not with quality. i mean, you cant compare a production line... 22,000 dollar USA car, to a "hand made" 1/4 million dollar lamborghini. dont get me wrong, i LOVE ferrari, porsche, lotus, and all those top notch, high preformance, race machines. and im asuming that if america were as loose with HP/noise/speed/ etc etc laws. we could make our USA race cars silly. what i mean is, removing speed limiter chips (leagaly), cuttin emision laws in 1/2. but american cars are somtimes over looked. i mean, saleens, vipers, vets, and all them good USA race machines. Every countrys car has its pros and cons. nuff said ;)
