American cars, or imports?? (pg. 5)

Impports = Finesse and durability
They both have their strong points but I'd go with imports for the long run.. |

American cars suck. Their technology is back in the 50's. The US companies are totally ignoring new technologies and think the only way to improve a car's performance is to boost the size of the engine. European cars used to be good until recently, but they're quality level is starting to drop and they're expensive since they're selling the company name. Volkswagen is the prime example of that. I'd go for the japanese car any time, they're good, reliable, don't spend too much petrol, and are pretty fast and strong.
Btw, as far as tuning goes, I've seen a guy here who has a Yugo with a 2.0 turbo engine that has 225HP. He said the total tuning cost was about 1500 euros. The Yugo almost won a street race here, but the idiot didn't put in a new gearbox so the old one fell apart after the second race :). |

this may be quiet pointless, but i decided to upload pics of my car.
it's a 1996 nissan 200sx, which in australia and japan came standard with the SR20DET engine, which is a 2.0 litre turbo putting out 165kw (around 350hp?) stock.
However, Ive heard that in the US and Britan, it was called the 240sx, and consequently came with some ty non-turbo 2.4 litre engine :stongue: haha
as you can see, it's a sleeper, there's no intercooler yet (im sourcing a blitz item soon)
a 5 inch tanabe free flow exhaust (very deep and loud)
me doing 180 in a 60 zone :o
me down at the car wash next to an official Tommii Makinen edition Mitsubishi Lancer Evolution VI :nervous:
anyway, in a recent trip to the drags resulting in only 13.8 @ 103mph :( im going to be doing some serious work to it over the next few months, and hopefully get into the 11's :) |

Um, sorry to disappoint you, but 165kW is only about 227hp. |

Oh, that comes from a person that's saying japanese cars suck because they can't beat the 5000hp funny cars in a quarter mile race? I bet they can't beat the F16 either. Damn, they suck when compared to the marvels of the american übertechnology.
And please tell me what's incorrect in my post. On average, american cars spend more gas and have larger engines in relation to the power output compared to european and japanese cars. The only logical conclusion is that european and japanese cars are technologically superior because they produce the same result with less input. It is also correct that the japanese cars are the most durable and long lasting. As far as european cars go, a recent poll in the UK showed that the car owners were most satisfied with japanese cars, and were most dissatisfied with Volkswagen. They were also quite unsatisfied with BMW and Mercedes. If you check out Volkswagen cars, you'll see they cost two times more than the japanese cars with same performance/luxury. And Mercedes's newer models have a tendency to get caught on fire because of cheaper materials used in the construction. Ford has improved recently though, as its models are no longer as prone to breakdowns as they were a few years ago. Still, it's far from the top in automotive quality. |

| Own : Nissan Maxima SE and I love it . It feels so good to smoke all the cars that were "modified" without spending any extra money on mine . Acceleration is excellent also handling is very good . I was skeptic before I bought it but now I absolutely love my car and I'm 100% happy with it . |

yes. we are talking about performance. And if you read the ing post (which you either didnt or were too stupid to understand) someone brought up a hondas performance in the quarter mile, which was the ing point.

1)They're good... what quality is that defining again?
2)gas consumption is not really a factor when you are talking about performance vehicles. Think NASCARS are like oh i spent 200 bucks on gas this race...and yes that is a valid point because we are talking about what you can do to cars, what is the best result you can pump out from these things. for that we look to Le Mans, WRC, NASCAR, Drag strips, Formula 1 racing. These companies (mostly euro and American) are constantly out there proto-typing engines, and every year things are getting quicker and parts working better.
The top companies are still the top companies, and we have been entering the age of affordable super car. Look at the Dodge Srt-4 18 grand with something like a 13.5 quarter and 5.5 0 -60. So cheap, badass car, nice ass parts. Euro cars are running more efficiently and have been making HUGE steps these days.
The reason you got the award is because youre ass backwards on every statement you made, and it was ridiculous. |
