Whats some good movies people have seen lately?

Don't have to be really new even....

I really liked The Last Samurai. It had a really good story I thought, and swords are always cool. I've heard its Tom Cruise's best role? Hmm, to be honest he annoyed me a little, maybe too used to seeing his face, I dunno. But yer, pretty rad movie.

League of Extraordinary Gentlemen; yer that was ok I guess, pretty weak story line, but worth watching.

The latest movie I saw was "Passion of The Christ" mainly due to the fact I was dragged along with the parentals:rolleyes: However not really being a religious buff myself, I thought it was quiet a powerfull and touching movie, and if you can get over the the fact it's subtitled, it's pretty moving.

Another one I liked was "Underworld"

Lost in Translation..what a gorgeous, beautiful movie. the disconnection and alienation the characters feel is conveyed so successfully. the relationship between scarlett johansson and bill murray seemed so pure, which i really liked. it's a really intimate kind of film; loved the slow pace of it all, although that could be seen as annoying to others. excellent scenery and soundtrack!! mmm...air & my bloody valentine...very nice indeed.

21 Grams was excellent too. incredibly intense and raw. great acting. really liked the non-linear and the multiple perspectives.

Also saw L'auberge Espagnole a few weeks back...cute, fun, heartwarming movie. made me want to move to Barcelona and learn how to speak spanish, hah :p

Agreed, Last Samurai was good, and especially Lost in Translation - one of the best movies I have seen for the last few years.

"Passion" was okay, and One Perfect Day was'nt that good, besides the music.

Clint Eastwood's Mystic River is highly recommended, the most compelling thing I find about it is that Clint himself co-wrote the original sound track score for the movie. The central theme is based on a simple triad, the basis of a melody that he used to play to he's children!

Movies that I want to see are 21 Grams, Big Fish, and Paycheck.

Can't wait for Kill Bill Vol. 2 too!!!! :)

last samurai would have been a lot better if tom cruise wasnt in it.

Passion of The Christ 10/10 ooof I shed some tears watching this film. Well done to Mel Gibson. Whether this film wins an Oscar or not, it doesn't matter, its done its already done its purpose in restoring my Catholic faith. :)

Jeepers Creepers 2 7/10 An "Okay" sequel

House of 1000 Corpses 6/10 About 3 teenagers who want to found out about an old killer, in some Country town, yet they stumble across a dysfunctional family. A bit scary, though I dunno any of you are gonna take this movie seriously.

Underworld 8/10 Reminds me of Queen of the Damned. Just one of those Matrix scene rip offs except with Vampires & Werewolves.

I hear that "The Butterfly Effect' is worth watching, I havent seen it though so cant say anything more. Also 'The House of 1000 Corpses' is apparently the worst movie ever made..

Correct, it is definitely worth watching. Very interesting premise, and ashton kutcher is actually a really good actor (i was struggling at first to take him seriously, but he definitely proved himself)

tathi
the butterfly effect is a pretty good movie

Loved Mystic River....refreshing to see a more 'realistic' portrayal of events in a Hollywood movie than is usually the case...and huge thumbs up for the distinct absence of a stereotypical Hollywood resolution to the story....

Lost in Translation I also loved....but this is definitely a love or hate movie - I haven't seen or heard any reviews that were halfway between - I think it's cos it's one of those movies where u really have to have been at a similar point in your life to the characters in the movie.....that feeling of emotional/physical isolation, which sumhow causes a connection with another individual, who u wouldn't ordinarily connect with.......if u've been there, u will love this movie....if u haven't, it might just seem like a boring plodding movie where nothing much really happens.......but, this movie isn't really about a storyline....it's about depicting emotions and states of mind.....the kind of movie where at first you kinda think "this is boring and going nowhere", but then suddenly it clicks, you start to empathise, and u realise what it's really aiming for :) great stuff!!!

About to watch the 6 hour movie series Angels in America, starring Pacino - scooped the pools at the Golden Globes....no idea what to expect :)
