Y is trance less popular than hiphop????? (pg. 10)

Havnt read all the posts...but ill put it as simply as i can.
First of all the media has not quite shoved EDM down peoples throats yet...they have done so with hip-hop. You dont see PvD drinking a pepsi with some supermodels or anything...yet. I'd say thats the main reason, the media just hasnt told people they should like trance, its told them they should like hip hop.
Second of all trance takes a developed taste, it's a little rare to find an average person who can listen to trance on a regular basis. I'd even say that the majority of "tranceaddicts" on this board will slowly stop listening to trance once they stop thier clubbing&rolling bit. (Luckly ive developed a taste for trance before im even old enough to step foot in a club or take some E.) Dont get me wrong there are many people on this board that will always love trance...but i think you have to admit trance is generally for young clubbers, so in a few years alot of the folks here will grow older, step out of the scene and stop listening... :(
And the number one reason........hip hop has lyrics, that people like to think they can relate to. |

l wont agree with that...
1st of all, l have listened trance for 8 years, since l was 12, and have never grown out of it, l also know many people over 40s listen to trance,
l have seen businessmen in the suits driving in the posh cars listenin to upliftin music...
we wont grow out of it as long as we have a strong will- power, trance is beatiful. Some people probably might do cos of a peer-pressure,but strong-minded people will stick to it cos it's worth it.
And if people, would like to relate to lyrix, there are many other way better genres of muisc rather than rap where u can express u thoughts in words...ROCK/Indie, which is a way better quality music than rap/hip-hopm, and Rock can be upliftin too,whereas hip-hop cant be uplifting in term of melody.
And even in trance, you can create a quality vocal trance too.

I tried to make it clear that i didnt think all of us would stop listening to it, i was saying that quite a few of us will, and if you do think that everyone on this forum (including the chillout room people) will keep listening to trance until thier dead...well then i admire your optimism. :) But i think you have to admit, alot of people do change thier taste in music alot of times throught thier life. |

| Listen to what you like, don't bother wasting your time with intelligent posts about the world out there, every other person is like you, they usually like some form of music and enjoy it, so what, if it makes you happy then keep listening to it. Who cares what the rest of the population thinks. |

You can get jiggy with it easily in R&B.
Trance jigginess is still evolving. We need to kick out some Ibiza soap sud videos and get people grinding to it everywhere before it'll be mainstream.
Not that I'd want that, for reasons stated above. However, if the whole world listened to trance, it would definately be a better and more peaceful place. |

Wouldn't you care if you never got to go out clubbing because your friends were all into music you hate & vice versa?
I can listen to what I like in the confines of my own home without giving a , but I miss the freedom of being able to share music with friends, listen to it with others around or have conversations about it. All because I've never met anyone face to face who likes trance, or indeed any form of EDM (save a couple of hardhouse & DnB heads).
In short, I care about it. I've spent hundreds on train journeys meeting up with people from a trance-based messageboard just for the privilege of being around people of similar taste. |
