every genre of music has it's good moments and it's bad moments.
people who have gone into record stores and listened to some records in the trance section surely know that there is some seriously horrible trance.
mainstream rap & hip hop is pretty pathetic. Mainstream trance is pretty pathetic too. You just need to know where to find the right stuff. |

We gotta get all the non-trance people to GOOD trance parties... then they can build some happy trance memories... and then... only then... will they truly appreciate the music. |

| quote: | | umm... style and delivery unmatched? no way. mos def and del are umpteen times better... and as for his beats, he gets a lot of help from the neptunes who make sick ass beats. i think jay-z is way overhyped. but i do dig those neptune beats. NERD is tight. and the they produce by themselves for other artists is ill too. oh but i agree with you that the aforementioned posts are almost impossible to read... it's like going to one of those websites where it's HTML hell. ;p |
Umpteen times better? How exactly are they "better"? There's no such thing as 'better' when it comes to style, which I was talking about. Have you listened to any of JayZ's lyrics closely, and notice how his wordplay and style flow so well...
Dont get me wrong, Mos and Del are some of my fav's, but I really can't categorize skill after a certain point, like these MCs have reached and surpassed. |

i just think any form of music that can convey as much emotion as trance/progressive can without vocals is tough to beat and is truly an amazing form of music
u'd never be able to say that about hip hop |

If put in definition, rap is "spoken or chanted rhyming lyrics with a syncopated, repetitive rhythmic accompaniment". Try paying close attention to most mainstream rap(not the lyrics, THOUGH they suck most the time), and I almost guarantee you, youll hear some of the most basic, repetitive beats you have ever heard(you may as well turn on the peano and play the tempo demo over,.... and over,......and over, and over, and over :stongue: ). Music is the art of sound, not the art of lyrics. If your thinking the other way around, then youll get the reason why trance is not as popular as it should be |

u'd never be able to say that about hip hop | Music is the art of sound, not the art of lyrics. Lyrics is the cherry on top. Though in hip hop, it stands more for lyrics than music itself. :conf: You may as well go buy yourself a sundae, throw it away, then eat the cherry. |

| The reason trance isn't as popular as hip-hop is because girls are more used to dancing to hip-hop. Sad but true, if all the ladies started dancing more to trance than hip-hop, trance would be more popular than hip-hop. |

| Yea but girls look hotter dancing to trance than dancing to hiphop (especially my GF!)... and it's funny that hiphop tracks with a solid 4/4 kick end up being the most popular ones to dance to (look at Christina Agulera - Dirrty and Beyonce - Crazy In Love) |

You my friend are a ing idiot.
A girl once told me that the reason she preferred hiphop in general was 'because it's fun music to flirt to' and that 'trance is more emotional'...makes sense to me but I still don't like hiphop. If people want to listen to hiphop because they love the music, fine, whatever, works for me. What bothers me is when people listen to hiphop because they see it on TV, because the whole pimp badboy bling-bling thing is what's popularized these days...basically when people listen to hiphop for the image and not for the music, I get pissed off. Thank god that hasn't happened with trance yet :p |

everyone has a right totheir opinion....
and mine is that Most hip-hop has gone to ,
mostly rapping/talking about the same .
still love some of it, but the fact is most rappers are PUNKS.
almost all people in the trance industry i've met are straight, cool.
not many s around. maybe it's just me, but i highly doubt it. |

Yea I know what you mean.
Although I never accepted the religion that has been passed down my family... I am a proud, devoted ELYOTIST. BOO YEAH!!!!
And yea... my family doesn't listen to trance... but my Mom and my brother seem to like it now... even my grandma has taste for the ... and they all pretty much hate ty rap... I think it's just social pressure... and I also think that rap has levels of appeal beyond just the musical elements of the tracks (which was never the strong element of rap to begin with). Rap makes a statement... trance usually just taps into you emotionally and makes you go nuts. People like rap because they become attached to the associations it creates. U listen to a lot of rap with ur friends at parties, and soon your brain associates hiphop music with good times, love, and happiness. This explains society's resistance to changes in taste... the next group of people starts getting the same kind of associations and the tastes perpetuate. But if you go to a lot of trance events and associate trance with good times, then you will like trance. Trance IMO has stronger musical elements and in general, is more energetic, more emotional, and more fun to dance to, but it lacks the associations that hip-hop has created.
END RANT. |
great answer-agree agree :)
according to my own experience, Trance parties have more happy memories that the ones from rap parties...at Trance parties people look way happier, the atmosphere is much friendlier and merier! People have a better time at trance parties as far as l can see...but it's just me :) |
