You want statistics that women earn less, well I want statistics that show that "way too many women" are taking advantage of men.

All girls I've known always offered to pay. I have yet to encounter a a girl who would never pay for anything.

You need stats to know that there are a lot of women out there that date guys for their money? common... Some women marry guys just for their money.

i'm with you tho, the girls ive gone out with all offered to pay... but there are others that expect the man to thats for sure.

I'm just playing devil's advocate here. JayX doesn't believe that women earn less, and he wants credible stats that prove that.

I don't believe that women are taking advantage of men, and I want credible stats for it :D That's all !

Beh, that makes you sound so naive.

Personally, i dont really see that women make less than men... thats jsut from my own personal experiences tho

perhaps these stats will help you guys, - even though i still don't believe that women's lower income level has anything to do with the topic of the thread. but go on ...here are the facts as collected by Canadian Stats:

"...on average, women still earn less than men. The hourly wage paid to women in 2001 was only 82% of that paid to men. This earnings gap widens even further with average annual earnings: women working full time, full year in 2001, for example, pulled in only 72% of what their male counterparts did."

"WOMEN'S EARNINGS REMAIN SUBSTANTIALLY BELOW MEN'S
In 1998, earnings of employed women in Canada averaged $22,000, 64% of men's average earnings for the same year ($34,200).

Part of the reason for women's lower earnings is that they are much more likely than men to work part time. However, even when only full-time, full-year employees are considered, the wage gap persists. In 1998, women in full-time, full-year positions earned an average of $32,600, 72% of the average of $45,100 earned by their male counterparts.

;)
Allegory
I feel one needn't worry about etiquette as a general rule, because everyone is different.

As a woman, it is nice to be treated from a guy that I really like. I feel I can't accept a person paying if the date went nowhere.

I also love to treat, I love to make my guy feel great as well, and in all three long term relationships I've had, this has been a reciprocal sentiment.

In university we were so poor we couldn't afford dinners; a lavish treat would be getting souvlakis at Arahova.

What I appreciate, to this day is that we don't keep track, we share everything- and I apply the same code of ethics with dear friends. And we treat each other in any order we please.

I realise first dates are different, and I always prepare to pay, because I feel it is wrong to assume the other person will pick up the tab. But I won't put up a fuss if they want to pick it up; some guys really like to treat, and that's okay too. I believe that ultimately, everyone feels differently about this topic; it doesn't mean one is worse than the other, we all have varying sentiments that should be respected ;)

That's what I think.

you can't take average income to indicate that women are earning less. you have to take men and women on the same job, same qualifications etc.

I've looked for this a little bit and this is the bext I could find, taking most of those factors into account:

I'm not sure its the best data or will resolve any arguments on here but if it can help even a little its a bonus :)

I find it amusing that when I started going out with my woman that both of us insisted on paying.

now... 9 months later, "how about you pay for it?"

Are you over the age of 25?

If a man can or won't pay for a date he should either get a job or find a new woman.
