I have a palestinian friend, even tho he's not an Israeli fan, he would never go explode himself. |
I had a Palestinian friend when I was in my 3rd year of university. He'd never go blow himself up either.
The point you seem to be missing is that there's obviously a difference between Palestinians living in the free and democratic West and the Palestinians living in the fundamentalist and oppressive Middle East.
Who do you think has a better chance at success - a black kid growing up in the ghetto or one growing up in a rich neighbourhood and going to a private school? Not that the ghetto kids have NO chance, it's just far less likely.
It should be fairly self-evident that there are major psychological differences between Palestinians/Iraqis/Iranians/etc. who emigrate to Canada or the USA and the ones who are strapping explosives to their chests. |

What's your point, I know all this. I was answering to Starsearcher, how extremism isn't inherent to Palestinians. You don't come to the world with explosives attached to your body. Its a mixture of education and bad living conditions. |

Well you said it - the issue is not *simply* a few nutbars in Palestine who go overboard, it's the whole environment they grow up in. Some of these nuts might have been fine if they'd grown up in Canada. Serious changes need to happen in that region before we can reasonably expect any kind of peaceful relations.
The hardcore zionists are no angels either but the state of Israel doesn't try to breed this into people. For all intents and purposes citizens of Israel have the same freedom of thought that Canadians and Americans do. Read a Palestinian textbook, on the other hand, and you'll see something wholly different. |

| Alright, since Malek is being outnumbered by hordes of zionist elements in the TO forum no less, and since nothing interesting is happening in the MTL forum, I come here in peace and to lend a helping hand to my Syrian compatriot.:D |

Diginut,
I hope that you were also referring to the nut-jobs on the Israeli side in your above statement. |

Come now, just because someone is in favour of the existence of the state of Israel does not make them a Zionist. Even if said people possessed an intrinsic irrational hatred of Palestine and the Palestinian people and maybe even Muslims all over the world, does not make them a Zionist (just prejudiced). Let's not throw these words around so readily and easily.

I think I addressed that point in my second paragraph... criminals come out of rich white neighbourhoods too, but the odds of it happening in a ghetto are far greater. |

I don't know about you, but if my father was killed by a lost bullet or by a slipery trigger, my brother lost a limb, my mother and sister humiliated every day at checkpoints, my house half destroyed and me not being able to go to school because it's shot at or the access being denied because of the wall...
... frankly I don't know if I would keep all my senses, if I would think calmly like we do here on this forum or if I wouldn't be too desesperated to attempt something bold. |

Confusing cause and effect here.
Don't try to blame Palestinian living conditions on Israel. Their conditions were a lot worse under Jordanian occupation (and I forget which other Arab states that treated them like scum in pre-1967 years). |

Nobody likes the Palestinians and especially Arafat in the Arab world even though they wouldn't really tell you that...He created unrest and civil war wherever he went and was also kicked out by those countries...I'm not blaming anyone really I think both sides need to calm down...And once again what malek sais was a cycle...it's not like Israel physiaclly and forecfully occupied the lands ALL the time...even if you call them evil zionists, the suicide bombers and the other freaks and militants gave them a reason to...
It's not like 9/11 and US goes after Iraq...here there is direct and obvious relation :) |

I mean, there's crazy people all over the world.
I'm pretty sure some extremist muslim here in canada would say "kill all these infidels", no one would listen to him, no one would care because those "infidels" haven't harmed you.
The same dude over there, saying the same things, would sow some ideas in some people's mind because the "infidels" are seen as the cause of troubles.
You need to see things into context, you need to try and imagine what some people are going thru. |
