Well, I guess this goes for you too, Cyrus, since u admitted he was a terrorist too.

I dont see how Araft being dead could do any good to Isreal.Since now Isral has to face groups like hamas and others to deal with.
p.s some of you ignorant fools should watch your mouth and stop labeling people with names like terrorists.:o |
Navid, Israel has BEEN facing groups like Hamas all along. Arafat did nothing to stop them. Sure, on paper, in front of the cameras, enough to earn him a premature Nobel Peace Prize (where was the peace anyways?)- but in reality, he still supported them, financially & in theory. He took all that money he raised for them and its now missing in hidden bank accounts. Some great guy. I am SURE his successors will do a MUCH better job than he did. Take note as to who they are putting in power- politicians interested in the good of the people, not members of Hamas. I'm hoping their tolerance for acts of terror is a lot lower than Arafats was. I forsee, and welcome a co-existing Palestinian state, and I'm sure it will come in the near future. |

u hit it right on the head girl:) |

I never said he was a saint,I said he was the leader of the Palestinian people and I respect that.
As far peace goes I hope for the best too,but both side are acting like fools and being selfish and seems like peace is the last thing in their minds, and as long the Us in behind Isreal there wont be any peace anytime sooon. |

Some food for thought:
Israel is the only country in the middle east (or the whole arab world if I'm not mistaken), in which the Arabs are allowed to vote. That's right, if you're a an Arab Israeli citizen, you're allowed to vote and even run for political office. If you're a Westerner in any other part of the region, your life is at risk simply for not being a muslim, or being a woman not accompanied by a man or covering your face. |
Well that is outright 100% false for Iran, which happens to be in the Middle East. Although there aren't too many Arabs in Iran, they aren't banned from voting or running for office. Also, if you're a westerner in Iran, you have absolutely nothing to worry about as long as you abide by the same laws as Iranian citizens. Women can go out on their own, can vote, can have jobs, own property, run a business, etc.
Please stop generalizing. I can't speak for all the countries in the Middle East, but I'm sure there are others where your 'food for thought' does not apply.

Mainstream media has always had a pro-Palestinian bias anyway |
I disagree
| quote: | | Academics have always been far-left in the political arena. |
Have you ever considered that you may not be a centrist as you claim to be? Relative to Canadians, your posts appear to be on the political right. The political spectrum is relative. You can't just say someone is to the far-left unless there is no one further to the left. For example, Canadians are more to the left than Americans, but we are also more to the right than Norwegians. Where does that put us on an absolute scale? The only valid absolute scale I think would be to average out the entire world's political views, and that isn't something that can be done very easily. |

I know some Arab guys that say Arafat was most likely a Jew... :conf:
btw, some Arabs I talked with didn't stand the guy. I mean they support the palestinians against the Israelis, but for the people not thier leader...
from what I understand, he was not that popular among most Arabs, opposite to what people might think.. |

Even b4 the war started, muslims, and anything that looked like a muslim were being attacked by American's on the street as form of retaliation. |
Well, maybe, just maybe, the 9/11 was a form of retaliation from Bin Laden for something US Gov't did... I mean, it's not like you come up with an idea to run a few planes into a couple of tallest buildings on the planet just out of the blue.
And who said that the media was pro-Palestinian biased? Oh man... turn the TV on. |

Thank you....my point exactly!
It's those that never been there or know nothing, watch TV and think they know everything about everything that voice their opinions about how great of a leader he was! |

Really...ok well then lets see....Bin Laden's boys blasted sacred cultural icons of budhas as far as I understand carved in stone...absolutely priceless...
What exactly did they do to them?
Bin Laden's boys were involved in the Massacre of Russian children in Beslan...what exactly they did to them?!?
You are justifying hate crimes and death and by doing so only give them more power to kill, AND get away with it.
You are just as influenced by their brainwashing crap like their own people. It's like the fascists when things are rough blame it all on the Jews...these guys blame it all on the Americans and Israel...and RISE TO POWER ON PROPAGANDA...history repeating itself and you're too dumb to see it. :nervous: |
