i don't know why there's such a debate over what constitues a good set, so long as people are having fun and enjoying themselves, that's all that should really matter in the end

I agree completely.
But I don't think I'm too off base to think that a lot of people there would have loved whatever tiesto threw down, old or new. Why not be a bit more creative?

i dont want to disrespect anyone here. i know the majority of this board would give their life for the guy but it seems as though all tiesto really does is play old "classic" anthems. now that isnt a BAD thing. i know this because it was moments like these that sasha would trop tracks like underworld - dark & long, xpander, enjoy the silence etc but at the same time he would be very creative with his sets using his tracks as building blocks. creating a force not just with BIG TUNES but other unknown tracks. his ability to layer track over track is what makes sasha SASHA. after listening to his most recent set which was brought to my attention by InfinityHigh (Sasha @ The Forum) i could not believe my ears...BLOWN AWAY. creativity is extremely important. for this reason i just cant understand why so many people consider tiesto #1. there were soooo many people who went to this "show" and didnt know a thing about him. tiesto caters to the "commercial crowd" and his music selection from what i saw represents that...

i guess im just trying to understand from all of you what he does thats so right

back to work for me

well that depends on what your definition of being creative is. there were people there who were obviously there to see him play some of his own productions which he did, which is something i can't say as being unexpected..

for a DJ like Tiesto, trying to please everyone will always be a challenge. he'd have to appease both people who have always been into his music who are looking for something fresh, as well as those who have just gotten into his sounds and are expecting him to throw down his well known stuff.

the fact that there's even a debate about this, just further reinforces the amount of scrutiny a DJ of his stature receives when you garner this much publicity and fame..

I gotta get my hand on a copy of his set..

A co-worker of mine was on her way in, slipped on ice and broke her ankle...

Other than coat check (WTF did they close if for 1/2 hour for?? are they stupid) the night was perfect, or almost perfect, suburban train would've topped the night off nicely, but after hearing Luke Chable's "The Shepard", I was already satisfied!!! I thought the set up of the club looked great, except that half the club had no view of Tiesto... they should have at least kept him on the big screens that were set up around the club, who actually looks at the imagery on those screens anyway, I want to see Tiesto goin' nuts!! We were in front of the bar at the back of the club most of the night, we had no problems finding a spot to get our groove on, not to mention we were surrounded by big breasted whores as well... yeah, so they were with shirtless juice monkee's, it still made for nice scenery. I would've loved to have heard his mix of Cirque du Soleil's Mer Noire, but maybe another time... It was the kind of night you didn't want to end, at one point, I had a girlfriend of mine pinch to make sure I wasn't dreaming!!! Can't wait til he comes again... Oh, I got to meet Tiesto on Friday, Dec 3. I was going for lunch on Wellington St downtown, and he was standing in the street waiting for a friend all by himself. I got to talk to him for like 10 minutes or so, he's the coolest guy!!!

wow what a night....me and my brother came all the way from miami to see this show and we were not disappointed( i was wearing the shirt that said "all i want for xmas is a six hour tiesto set").. anyways the guy who opened for tiesto threw down a sick opener, if this guy was a local in miami, i would be following him probably from week to week...as for tiesto....along with magik muzik nite one of the best sets ive seen this year, such a close call...i thought the first two hours were splendid, the patented tiesto energy surging thru the crowd, tijs very animated, VERY INTO HIS SET...then in the middle he slowed it down, things got a little technoish for me, but you have to realize tiesto is about the JOURNEY, he did this purposly, he brings you up, then lulls you for awhile then takes you back up, it was brilliant imho, and the final two hours were just mind blowing to me, with a harmonius mix of new and old tunes MAGIK-ly placed, OMFG i died when he dropped push-uni nation, one of my all time faves-goosebumpage...now im not an id whore, but i dl'd new trance all the time so i know a tune when i hear one, and i must say i couldnt id maybe close to have the nights tracks, he played so many dope instrumentals i couldnt id and i loved it, thats why i love tiesto so much, he always brings the freshest tunes, reminded me of magik muzik nite in march, where i still havent heard some of those tunes to date, and they were insane too..i love surprises...to sort of conclude on my review i thought the vibe and energy was incredible, lightin was awesome, and both djs rocked the party..enuff said.. now for those of you who say tiesto is not who he used to be, bla bla..get over it..the musik isnt what it used to be, and he has changed his style accordingly, so quit living in the past...and yeh i dont like 'just be' much myself, but if i got to listen to a few of those tracks over the course of a 7hour set, so be it, he played plenty of killah tunes to make up for it, give the guy a break, he's only human...sorry for the rant... anyways for those of you i might of met that night on the boards, nice to party with you all, toronto is fun, even tho its focking cold as up there!!! neil:D

Can you name the breaks track that Tiesto apparently "wrecked" on (based on your comments)? Can you name the preceding and following track as well?

It's a bit of a stretch to simply believe any sort of unfounded comment posted on a msg board...

Unless he played it while I was hiding in the corner, I certainly didn't hear it.

kamil
^i cant name it, but it was definately there.

it was one those "Argonaut - Your Body Is A Temple" on ISOS3 moments. (everyone thought that was a pointless track, and a near flawless mix except for that ONE)
