REVIEW: Project Orange Presents: DJ Tiësto (6 hour set) @ the Docks (pg. 9)

I had a pretty interesting evening.

Started out at my buddies place downtown, sampling various types of hash and bud.

I was standing in line to get in, some girl just suddenly collapsed on the concrete.

Coat check was my only serious complaint. I managed to squish in before it got REALLY gnarly. Even then it took 30 minutes.

Tiesto was pretty much what I expected. Thank god the 2nd floor was open.

Overall a good night. Tiesto played exactly what I expected. His programming + stuff from his new alubm is definately not my thing, Armin , PVD and sometimes Ferry do it a lot better for me. He is oficially no longer among my fav. djs. Don't get me wrong, he did play a good set, and it seemed that many people liked it, but it's nowhere near those shows that Armin pulled off on last Thanksgiving, PVD exactly a year before Armin and Tiesto himself in the Docks in June 2003.

Highlights of the night : coatcheck madness, Find (Andy Moor mix), crowd singing "Love Comes Again", lights, some hot chick hitting on my gf and asking us whether we want to have an orgy with her and her bf :nervous: :haha: (she was really ed i think:D), Yahel - Voyage. Highlights are listed in chronological order :)

EDIT: Why can't we have parties like that with Armin, PVD, Fery etc. I am pretty sure if the prices are a bit lower as many people would show up.

Just wondering.

Say it with me.... Clubs + big names = money to be made + big crowds

oh yawn...

Thanks for the hugeass review Emz, I was really more interested in the operation of the whole event than the tracks or tiesto himself.

Tiesto and the docks go well together. I'm not gonna bother seeing him at guv again. He was so into it this time around and looked like he was having fun. Very impressed with the track selection and delivery, no obvious trainwrecks. All the classics brought back so many good memories. :) I guess that's what makes Tiesto #1 for many ppl. He blends the new and old together into one very enjoyable package.

The docks was packed and friggin hot in some places but that was to be expected. As many ppl have pointed out the coatcheck was just a disaster, very disappointed with that. I wish the DJ booth was setup on the stage for this event so it would be easier to get a better look at Tiesto. Those displays had some cool visuals but got a bit annoying after a while when all you wanna see is Tiesto doing his thing.

I had fun hanging out in our TA zone. Everyone was having a great time from what I saw especially our TA energizer bunny, Cuzo. :) I'm so glad I made the last minute decision to attend and thank you Swilly for setting me up with a ticket!! :D It was nice meeting DancingQueen169 and VERTiG0 for the first time and also hanging out with the familiars. An awesome night from start to finish, 9/10 from me.

Wow...now I really can see what the hype was all about.
After much searching for a ticket only 2 days before the event, managed to find one for regular price, which was lucky to say the least.
So me and Dj Robben got to the docks at around 1230. No problem with the ids, just checked to make sure they were “legit” ;) and we walked on in. I swear, the timing on the night couldn’t have been any better. Just as we get into the mainroom we hear “Here he is….TIESTO!!” and the crowd erupts. Perfect timing :D

Now this man, can he EVER read a crowd. For the 5 and something hours that I was there for, he kept me energized. Every time that I felt my energy leave me, tiesto would drop a BOMB that just kept me pumping all night long. I wish I could’ve stayed for the whole set, but by 5:30 it had already been a 23 hour day with work slotted in there as well. It was, however, an incredible feeling leaving a great night to the sounds of tiesto playing in the background. Awesome night. Thanks Rob for the drink! Nice to see some of the TA’s that I partied with at wemf. I saw Az comment on my buddy’s Netherlands jersey, lol, but missed RJ, Nat and the rest

Well worth all the money spent. Well worth it. Not bad for my first 19+ party :happy2:

What was that sunset on ibiza-sounding track that he played? It had a very very similar melody.

Or that track that had a huge beat, and during the breakdown the tempo slowed way down [like he was stopping the turntable, and the strobe-lights were going very very retarded] then snapped back up..

totally, ferry's set would have done way more for me.
(but tiesto did deliver by all-means)

i was so waiting for love comes again, but when I had to step outside to make a phone call.. BAAM! Comes on... that was supposed to be my 'bt' moment of the night which has left me.

one of the funniest moments was that crazy girl who literally went out of her way to push Beh as he was dancing in his space without bothering anyone.. lol.. :p "sorry dude, i tried making the situation better by telling you she was going for your ass"

I find that weird. Apparently people saw him last weekend in a Hummer too. That's so weird because his ryder specifically stipulates a 24 hr limo service. *shrug* Must have updated it I guess, who knows.

he came to toronto to check out the docks for some reason the week before.
