I know most of it has been said by now, but here is my review anyways :p
I don't even know where to begin really. Last night was WILD!
Instead of his 6 hr set, he played 7. That's right, not 6, 7!!!! The place was packed.
He was dropping great tunes and a pile of classics
*nalin and kane - open your eyes
*gouryella-gouryella
*Yahal - VOYAGE <--- TUNE OF THE NIGHT!!!!!
*Adagio 4 Strings
*G&D - Arcadia
*Conjure One - Tears from the Moon
Man the list went on and on!
In June when I saw Tiesto at the Guv he totally disappointed me....but he redeemed himself last night. He was sooo into the crowd and the music. He even stayed after to sign autographs, which he never does.
At the end of every set he throws in his headset and a vinyl.....well the crowd went wild trying to grab em and DESTROYED them! The vinyl was shattered and the headset was in 3 or 4 pieces.....all I can say is don't mess with Tiesto fans...they are a nasty bunch :p
All in all, the docks was an insane venue and Tiesto owned the crowd, and expecially owned me when he played Voyage
I give the night a 8/10
It would have been a 10 if it weren't for the horrible organization of the coat-check and the pushy people |

Oh one more comment...what's with all the smoking?!?! Did they change the legislation or something? I could swear 1/4 of the crowd was smoking...I actually smelled like smoke when I got home....(Almost forgot how nasty that actually is hehe...) |
i agree.. i wish they would enforce this rule a lot more in all clubs in general

INSANE! :happy2: :happy2: :happy2: That's what last night was for me and commandrstraker.
About the only thing that upset me was the coat check..........2.5 hours........that's just stupid and crazy  (Poor setup by the Docks). But what really burst my bubble was that the TA's got personal meet time with Tiesto............while I stood being crammed and stepped on at the coat.
As for the music...
UnF^kin amazin (parden my french). I got exactly what I paid for. A fantastic time and some fantastic tunes.
Richard Raiban.......sometimes playing fresh underground music is not what I'm in the mood for. And I certainly don't want to spend $40+ dollars for a make or break nite.
What blew my mind completely was this song I heard from the Tiesto Gelredome Arnhem 10-30-2004.
Someone PLEAZE help me find the name of this song. The lyrics go like this:
"How did I let you go…(voice echo and fades out)
when I Lost you …in the darkness of a lonely night…and I found you in my arms and holding me so tight….when I’m with you and I kiss you, I can feel your heart……don’t you know that I’m the one to keep you safe and warm…….
Chorus: Never ... let you go"
OMG :eyespop: when he threw down this track........the crowd nrg went nuts.
So for me it was worth evey penny!
I can now sleep in peace because I got my christmas wish early. A 7 (not 6) hour set.
And the TA's we met last night were outstanding.
What a NITE!!!!!!!! |

That was one of the 2 best quotes of the night... "Check out that thug gangsta up there on the platform. That makes me so mad, it took all of my willpower not to knock the out of him up there."
Followed closely by some slutty porno lookin chick trying to cut the line at the end of the night in coat check, by Starsearcher: "OH COME ON, she's ing fat and ugly."
Also when we were walking out to my car at 8:30am at the parking lot on the corner of Polson & Cherry St., Tiesto drove by in a Hummer H2 and honked and waved at us. That was kinda neat. |

I am *really* impressed with the Docks. I thought maybe Halloween with Dumonde might have been a fluke, it was run so well. No! These guys know how to keep things organized (coat check notwithstanding). Guv could certainly learn a thing or two about how to host an event with a superstar DJ on the bill (like actually having a capacity limit!)
*Big thanks* to Jay (musicsnob_not), who went there earlier, for his frequent messages keeping us apprised of the situation and recommending that we NOT bring coats. I forgot to thank you...the info proved invaluable :)
So instead of going early and dealing with what was apparently a massive lineup at the door and coat check, we figured we'd show up later, after the door tickets were sold out. So we get there around 12:30-ish and pretty much walked right in as there was a "line up" of about 10 people, lol :D As we left coats at home, we didn't have to deal with the coat check fiasco either!
Plenty of room to move around, to dance, etc...crowd was *super* cool...no drama whatsover. People complaining about the gino content, the shirtless guys, etc...WHATEVER  This was one of the best crowds I've experienced in a while. I define that as me not being annoyed at obnoxious people or having constant flow of people *cough*likeatGuv*cough*. At the back (side?) in the new area there was lots of room, but the sound didn't seems so great there, really bass heavy, almost distorted at times, I thought. So we moved to the back of the main room, facing the booth, and stayed there for the rest of the night.
Tiesto...good set, but he's officially dropped off my "must see" list. Don't get me wrong, I like him...but he's no Armin, Marco V or Ferry. I will *always* go hear them...Tiesto...maybe. Guv was a *mess* the last time he was here, and so I spent 3/4 of the night chatting on the patio, so I wasn't too sure what to expect this time. In fact, the ONLY reasons I went were because it was NOT at Guv and becuase he was doing a 6 hour set.
Lots of great tracks, but a little harder overall than I expected. I figured that over 6+ hours, he'd mix it up a bit more...have a driving, hard portion of the set, a melodic "cheese" portion, a dark portion, etc...but it was less diverse, I thought. Still...plenty of of good stuff that kept me dancing as long as my legs and feet could stand it after having back to back Christmas parties on friday and saturday night.
I'm *loving* "Ridgewalkers feat. El - Find" and I was soooooooooooooooo glad that he played that...highlight track of the night for me :) Lots of anthems...which is always a plus for me. There are certain tracks I just don't get sick of hearing on a big sound system...Open Your Eyes is one of them...blissful :)
I do understand why people freak out when he's voted #1 DJ...his mixing was a bit sketchy at times, but his energy and track selecion more than makes up for that though.
smokers seemed to light up occassionally...no big deal...plus, I can't complain, I guess, because I did enjoy the sweet scent of pot throughout the night, lol...pot smells sooooo much better than sweaty people and cigarette smoke, lol :p
Missed most of the TAs who were mostly in another section...nice to see Natalie who hung out for a while...saw RJ after the lights came on as the Tiesto faithful were finally leaving, lol. As usual, it's the crew who truly makes the night...always a pleasure Dan, Chris, Marc, Natalie, Chris, Jay and friends, Jon and friends (up from NYC), etc.
lately...Docks > Guv...although I'm very much looking forward to Mark Oliver on NYE :) |

WOW... What an INSANE night that was.
That was by far one of the best parties Ive been to in a long time. It been about 2 years since Ive gone to a party, with the exception of WEMF. I got sick and tired of every party sucking and not being able to find parties that only played trance. I had lost all hope in the Toronto trance scene... untill last night. It opened my eyes that trance is coming back :) :) :)
I loved the hard stuff he played. Such incredible mixing skills. The club decor was off the hook. The sound was perfection, clean and crisp, but not death to the eardrums. When I first saw the crowd I was a tad dissapointed, but I have to admit there were a lot of friendly gino's... I guess I shouldnt have judged the book by the cover.
Only ty part, is waiting for the next big trance event!!! |

I find that weird. Apparently people saw him last weekend in a Hummer too. That's so weird because his ryder specifically stipulates a 24 hr limo service. *shrug* Must have updated it I guess, who knows. |

I fully agree. I was REALLY REALLY impressed with the crowd. Everytime someone would bump me they'd apologize, yadda yadda. Good stuff, really.
Oh yeah, Cuzo was a pure ball of energy the whole night, we were getting so tired near the end and he'd come over to us and get us going again... Thanks dude :D
