Mark Oliver Appreciation Thread

TrueToTheCrew
Hey guys, Im creating this thread so we can show Mark Oliver our appreciation for his dedication to us and the scene.

We all know holidays are for spending time with the family and relaxing. It dawned on me this saturday that Mark sacrifices allot of this to keep his fans happy. Spinning back to back sets on NYE and NY day trying to please everyone's music taste and requests (even his critics) while keeping it real. Every holiday.

Id much rather listen to a 9 hour Oliver set than a tiesto or oakenfold because you can't predict Mark's set in contrast to the other "big" djs. Its amazing to watch him spin and seeing how random his track selection is. He scrambles through his array of records to find a track that fits right in and matches the crowds vibe. Simply the best.

Cheers to Mark O for his dedication, loyalty and his amazing talent.
All the best for 2005..

Yes Much respect to Mark , great Dj and a good friend

But before you put him on a pedestal (which although flattered I am sure he would be the first to tell you he doesn't want) please remember that Mark , just like the rest of us who work in this service industry gets paid to do a job and his happens to be dj'ing

He chooses when to work and gets paid just like the rest of us.
Dj's make at least double money on a NY eve.

If you doubt what I say ask Mark if he would like to work and not get paid just to entertain you. we all have families and I both Mark and I have young children at home .

Not being negative , but you need to stop being so starry eyed

Agreed. But at the same time Mark as a person is a very humble and friendly guy and that needs to be appreciated. The fact that he's famous in the realm of the DJ world means that people here will talk about him and yes sometimes with some stars in their eyes.

Knowing Mark really well myself I know that he is flattered by it but very humble too. He said something to me once about this very subject. I dont have a direct quote or anything but i do remember it being along the lines of if he ever gets too comfortable as a DJ he'll quit. Basically meaning that he will always work hard to do what he does and if ever he doesnt feel the motivation to do so, he'll just stop doing it.

I wish some of the "international" Djs out there would take note of this concept.

As for NYE work I agree its good money and everyone working that night should be appreciated. I along with Mark and nightclub staff everywhere did give up being with family and friends on NYE. Not that im complaining though because it was fun and its a paycheque.
