What is wrong with you people!?! You are talking of complexity, organic sound, ... and not one of you can define any of those things. And now you are tryin to argue about these conceptions?!
1st - it is not smart to talk about things (and be sure of them) without knowing the meaning and definiton of them.
2nd - even if you have (or think u have) a definiton in your mind, it is necesary to put this definition in your "opponents" mind, and when you both know and agree with a definiton, you can talk about how good a type of music is!!
3rd - Tryin to make someone think like you and feel the same way as you do when you listen to your favorite type of music is a VERY HARD mission and you should all ask yourselves:
WHY ARE YOU TRYIN TO CONVINCE SOMEONE??
Are you tryin to make your opponent feel GOOD or BAD????
this is the most important question here...
maybe you should all think before you say stuff...
that was my HUMBLE opinion..

trance is just something i can never stop listening too ... i started listening to dance/techno in early 90's prodigy and chemical brothers got me started.. and later on i started gettin into trance .. 99-01 is my fav time of trance but im sure it can become amazing again .. i still enjoy listening to it ... trance is like no other.. listening to livesets , seeing which trax will be dropped... the crowds reaction .. everything!!

These are just examples though, everyone seems to have their own definition and approach to music in general. Personnaly I have trouble agreeing with the choice of words for the names of some of these music categories, but I accept them anyway because if I didnt then I wouldn't be able to tell songs apart or find things I like since nobody knows what the hell I'm talking about unless I use common terms.
I don't like genre titles that are any words other than a description of the actual sound that the stuff makes. Words like trance and progressive are kinda bull terms that refer to subjective ideas rather than a real description of the sound. So I guess the word trance doesnt mean anything to me, at least not in a musical way, unless you are refering to trance in the other way, which would be kinda funny cuz all this 12 pages of hilarity would seem even more pointless.

Regardless of how we each try to define what trance means to us on a personal level the reality is that for each it will vary. However I personally think & believe that for each of us trance is more of a "journey!!!" For some it may be a journey of emotions while for others it may turn into a journey that is solely based on zone-ning out for the time being. :crazy:
I will say that no matter what trance means to us on a personal level, the journey is always worth while :gsmile: |
