I think we both know that. But is a melody in, oh, say, trance any harder to come up with? Nope, take your regular trance anthem and change a few notes, come up with a new bassline, and there, you got yourself a new track! Most times I can tell what note comes next... sheesh. |

It isn't. I never said it was...
There are only a few styles of EDM that could be considered complex. |

That's actually good writing at work. Techno is much simpler musically than trance, but it's arguably harder to produce. |

well could you assume that you could record a child playing on pans, place that over a 4x4 beat, and it could be techno.
good techno? well thats obvious.
but you sure as hell couldnt get a child to make a melody |

Well by that line of arguing, a child could hit a few keys on a keyboard and it could be a trance melody.
I haven't much of BT's music, but I wouldn't call it particularly complex. |

Yeah, but with techno, the records are the DJ's tools, unlike in trance, where there's usually just a sloppy 1 minute mix between tracks. |
Ya i have to agree hear. Id prefer 'listening to trance', but I prefer 'watching techno.' The mixing in techno is much better to spectate.
A lot of techno tracks are made, so the dj can do all types of vigorous mixing. One example would be Adam Beyers - Ignition Key.
This track has no kick drum in it, which is just begging to be mixed in with a punding techno track.
This is an exaple of a track which can be used as a "tool" |
