Ah, who gives a ? Trance is a style of music, and it has advantages and disadvantages. It's not great if you like your music to be brilliantly complex or organic, it's not great if you want to be able to sing along and quote lyrics, and it doesn't have great rhythm. However, what it does better than any other style of music is give you that singular feeling you experience when you play it loud, that just clears your head of emotions.
Like all genres, there is good trance and bad trance. The good is very good, the bad can be very bad. The same applies to techno, electro, prog and anything else people judge to be "above" trance. |

| I sang along to Freefall - Skydive a few weeks ago in this club word for word, and the remix had a thumping bass line. So i disagree you can sing along, admittedly the lyrics tend to verge on the cheesy/slightly odd side but there really just there to bring the song together anyway. And some tunes have a phat rhythm. |

Yeah, but with techno, the records are the DJ's tools, unlike in trance, where there's usually just a sloppy 1 minute mix between tracks. |

and techno is a dj cutting the track in and out after 1 minute of attempting to beatmatch then slamming it in to the next. :rolleyes:
whatever dj's do as long as it makes me wanna loose myself i aint fussed.. :D |

Trance is not remotely complex, and don't even bother bringing "layers" up. As for organic... I'd like to see what you think is organic about trance. Trance lyrics are invariably crap, and there are very few good vocal trance tracks. And a 140 bpm four on the floor beat is not good rhythm... it's effective yet lazy.
