A sad day - R.I.P. - Cinar Onat (DJ Fuzion)

I can't even believe I'm typing this...
After a lengthy battle and a tough fight Cinar Onat (aka DJ Fuzion) passed away today at the age of 29.
When I first met Cinar in 1997 we quickly became friends as we both shared a love for extreme sarcastic humour as well as complaining about why certain dance tracks never made it onto the radio. He was always passionate about music and DJing - at the beginning it was all about Euro - but after going to his first trance party in October '99 he quickly fell in love with it - later spinning at a party for another messageboard (Toronto Rave Crew) in Dec '99 - a month later Tranceaddict started and I kept bugging him to submit a mix to put up for download. Eventually he did and soon thereafter he began receiving fan emails from around the world asking for the next mix - this kept going even years after he had put up a mix - his sets were that good. Soon after that he went on to play an online radio - Woofur.com - and I can still remember how happy he was when Dr. Trance featured him on his radio show on 89.5FM in 2001.
Later in 2002 came his days at BPM:TV and he finally had the opportunity to work at something he loved - music & broadcasting - the highlight being getting to interview Paul van Dyk his favourite DJ. Later on came many more gigs at clubs around the city, mainly at system where he acquired more of a house sound but one image that'll stand out for me was when he dropped Culture Beat - "Mr Vain" - and how the dance floor completely went off after that!
Cinar had an outgoing, funny personality who made many of us laugh and most importantly he had a good heart. I'm going to miss the spontaneous MSN conversations where he would send me a sample of a track and wanted me to hear it, usually opening with: "Yes guy! You got to hear this!". I'll also miss some of the heart to heart talks we'd have about life and other stuff...sadly, I won't have any of those again.
Rest in peace Cinar, you left too way too soon. :(

Apparently there is some customary attire for females - a scarf around the head? Not sure, someone who knows more about this can clarify, I'll edit this post with more info as I get it.

in december i kept wondering why he wasnt online at all and i assumed he had gone away for a while...then in Jan, muzzybear told me of his condition and I couldnt really accept it all night in my head.
I feel honoured knowing him. I just wish i had the guts to go to the hospital and see him.

The loss of any DJ is a sad day whether we knew him personally or just by his sound. Unfortunately I never got to personally meet this fine individual so for the people who had, consider yourselves greatful and cherish those memories.

Im very sorry to hear this. Cancer is such an awful disease. I only hope his passing was peaceful. Just remember that many people live a better life in a shorter time than some who live till they are 100. It sounds like Cinar was that person. It's all about quality and not quantity.

thats true. The guy made himself an icon in the local trance scene and he worked hard for it and just kept workin on keeping the scene alive. I used to poke fun at him for his passion for trance and his "worthless" endevour....but he would just laugh back and keep working at it |

U got me babe!
** a memory I have about Cinar was about 6 or so months ago when I was at System SOund Bar. He was spinning that evening, but just before hand his girlfriend recognized me from going to high school together! So that was a little funny to be catching up on old times - then she later introduced me to Cinar and we did some drinking and chatted for a while. It was a fun time. Later, DJ Fuzion, went on the decks and did what he did best! This could have been the night that he dropped the "Mr. Vain" track (but i am not totally sure) But it was wonderful to say the MOST!~. It was a pleasure to have known him and I am baffaled at this devistating news.

This will always have a spot in my memory. It was a highlight of that summer. I thank Cinar for that.

| Having never had the chance to meet him personally, I can always remember one day in my early ta days in irc talking to him about some of his mixes, and he was so happy that they'd left a mark on me and made me happy, spending well over an hour talking to a guy he'd never met. It really is a sad day to lose the guy, and I'm gutted tbh cos he seemed like such a great guy. RIP and my full condolances to all the totas :( |

RIP Cinar. You were one of the coolest niggaz I've known in this industry. No matter how bad or good the night was, Cinar always poped in and made all of us smiled and laughed our ass off.
You will be missed by everyone! |
