I can't off the top of my head actually think of any other compilation album that's perfectly musically key matched in the way this one is.

im sure involver is "key matched" & perfectly beatmatched...

that is quite a hard task with a computer doing the work

Hehe yes, I found myself quickly listening over Involver BEFORE I posted that last post, its 'kinda' key matches ish, but not as smoothly as this one. Taking nothing away from its brilliance though as an artistic piece :)

key matching hampers creativity, and is quite a waste imo...

Key matching hampers creativity?!?. lol.

So let me get this straight Sandstorm03, you say Involver (one of your personal favourite albums) is key matched, when I say it isn't quite key matched, all of a sudden it 'hampers creativity'

Add this to the long list of other attempts to make this album look weak....

Imho you'll take any good comment towards this album and try to turn it into a negative, your continued posts in this thread for what reason exactly?.

When it's evident you still dont actually have a copy (quoting from you 'from what i understand' ie if you'd heard this album you'd know its beatmatched) or have heard it properly (sounds much better than those lofi streams on astral which aren't played continuous through tracks).

If you'd listened to the album, said its crap and left it at that (or just kept to answering specific questions with an intelligent answer) , then that would be fine!. But this is getting a bit sad with you now. If you have some personal need to put this album down continuously, or have some personal beef with armin then perhaps you should take it up directly with him, get it out of your system.

On the other hand, you ARE helping to keep bumping this thread up to the top with your posts, so post away. :)

Regards

not exatly, actually i can not really stand involver, i do own it though. i feel sasha looses to much focus in the middle. It was probably his intent, but it does not suit me. I would rather listen to other stuff.

I listened to my roomates copy for about 7 tracks, and could not stand it. It did not bring any real feeling or emotion. It seemed very "dull." "First Time" isn't the worst production but by the end of the track the vocals just get extreamly annoying. "I know your gone" is probably the worst Graham production I have heard in a while, it has no substance at all. His mix of 12 is infinately better.

Can I ask you something. What message is Armin trying to send to people with this mix? Or what does it mean to you other then the fact that he put one of your tracks on it?

I can't speak for armin, all I can put across is my standpoint as a music lover who buys music because its something I want to listen to. For me, this album flows very smoothly, I enjoy listening to it,I find myself wanting to play it more... and that's it.

Isn't that all that really matters at the end of the day, you either enjoy or you don't. If you don't fine, if you wish to pass that opinion across fine, likewise if you like it.

Supporting good music is a positive thing, if you believe in something you want to promote it as others may share the enjoyment too, it makes sense and its constructive. If you dont feel its good, by all means state your opinion, and move on with your life to music you DO enjoy.

But when people go out of their way to put a piece of music/album down, not once, or twice, but over and over again, almost like, they feel a need to convince others that it must be bad, to me that's just childish, imho :)

do you feel it is any different from any old ASOT episode?
memories
It doesnt really NEED to be different from ASOT episodes, theres a whole wide world out here [incl. me] who dont listen to ASOT. This is a nice best-of-ASOT-tunes for people like us. And even if you do listen to ASOT shows, this is still all the great tunes in one place, so why complain and say "oh no same old asot crap" ? be postive : "yaay all the best chooons in 1 cd!!"
I like the album. Its nice. Better than ASOT2004. [Waiting for Coldharbour sessions 2005 to see which one turns out better!]
Rockabye
all these internet-cyberkids who think they know all about trance, and say everything what's not a promo is lame old , are the main problem electronic dance music and especially trance has today...

maybe you should just stop to listen to live sets, downloading promos and maybe you should let other people think and like what THEY want...

Just got done listening to the album A very good album but i must say that Armin at the peak of his career could have done a better job. I guess i was exxpecting a bit more, but all in all a very good album to listen on a nice Sunday afternoon. Would recommend it for sure.

Please read this. Ian's post is probably the best explanation that i have read thus far as to why some people don't like the current direction that Armin Van Buuren has taken.

ASOT used to be great, it used to have variety & good tracks, but it went downhill. Myself (And many others) are called 'haters' of armin but that couldn't be further from the truth, many of us were addicted to him and after hearing good sets from 1998-2002 of his, many of us believed he would go on to be the best in the world, he played sets that didn't just carry tunes on labels he was affiliated with and it worked, he was doing fine & respected by all, but then it changed, along came Armada & Many other small labels signing every man & his dog, and releasing mediocre tracks on the whole. We are not haters, we are disillusoned, as we KNOW armin can do better, he did for years beforehand, how many ASOT fans know his house remixes (I bet most dont even know he's done any) or his history of good collabs. Compare pre 2002 to post 2002 and you should be able to see why we're down on him, because he set high standards, and has since failed to live upto them. If you think that makes us haters & it helps you slepe at night, then so be it, but it just shows how ignorant you all are if you don't realise that we used to love the guys stuff...

I'm not critisising the tastes at all, I only mentioned that I'm glad the shows gone where it has as I think it's a better home, and a more trustworthy one. Do you honestly think we spend all of our time just bashing Armin & not listening to what we want to ? Many of 'us' as you refer to have a more broad taste than any asot fan and don't need to just listen to an average show and get damp over it. However when the forum gets polluted with about such shows, we are entitled to use sarcasm/hating/whatever the hell we want about it. The place never used to be like that, but it's degraded in the last 18 months-2 years and those like yourself who come in now might not realise what a great board this was, sadly most of the best posters dont bother now because of all the about stuff like asot.
