something that you are missing is that it is all....
proggy trance to hard trance... and some more trance, with trance in the middle....
that is not variety, armins shows could be up there along with above and beyond as the sets with the least variety...
i dont have any problem with the fact that it is all trance. thats fine with me, i still listen to tuns of trance. But to say the word variety is laughable...

In my opinion, this album is better than ASOT2004, it just flows better to me, its more enjoyable to listen to. Its a progression, its evolution in a good way.
|
why are you compairing this to ASOT 2004? go compair it to ISOS 1 or beyond imagination or something.

I don't like scootar, but I dont go posting on their forums in a thread about a new album by them, then continue posting over and over in an album thread putting them down, that's just plain sad!.
|
scooter doesnt play trance

Armin has moved on.. IS moving on, to music he likes to spin, if you dont like that evolution fine, but you're not going to change him, or make him go backwards to an earlier sound, the world moves on!. If you can't deal with that fine!, listen to another DJ that has the 'sound' your after, I'm sure this constant bashing hurts his feelings, because in many ways its quite nasty.
|
In what way is he evolving?
| quote: |
I'd feel the same. If I made a thread about a new track of mine and someone posted "I listened to it, didn't like it at all, was rubbish/crap/" I wouldn't mind!. Even phortastic in this thread said my track was 'crap' I wanted to know why in more detail, asked him nicely and got the response i wanted which was that he went into detail of why he felt it was crap. I wasn't angry or upset, because its not to his taste :)
|
is your track one of the best tracks this year? How about since 2000?
| quote: |
Its the same for Armin, you think he doesn't notice what goes on in threads?, its almost like hate or something, and if it IS to try and somehow 'convince' him to take a backwards step in his music tastes and style then forget it. He's moved on, along with a LOT of us trance lovers too, who apreciate the music being made today.
Long may it continue evolving the way it is!

you speak alot about evolving. What is it evolving into? It has used the same exact outline, that ferry & armin himself created in 00...
can you honestly say trance has changed since 2000? If you can, can you give some reasons how?
oh yea 1 last question. What do you think armins best production is? |

Lol, sandstorm03, there's no point trying to communicate with you if you're going to put words into my mouth :)
Never said my track was the best this year nor would I ever make such an arrogant claim, didn't even make a comment about it myself, i was speaking with regards to phortastics comments which has been covered already.
Also I never said scooter was trance, you kinda missed the point, clearly, which you keep doing but, no matter, there's really nothing more to explain, if you dont get it by now, then you won't ever get it i'm afraid.
But please do continue to help support awareness of this album by posting and bumping up this thread to the top if you wish sandstorm03, in that respect, I must thank you :)

you clearly just avoided every one of my points, as did phortastic when you asked him something.
if anything i said was not valid you should let me know |

All arguments aside..
IT'S A DAMN FINE MIX CD!!
Full credit to Armin and all the artists featured on it, And the way it's been mixed and laid out is an example to all of what a journey really is...
Now, how much is a copy of ableton??? |

Interesting discussion here :) I've listened to trance since the time Magik 6 came out, so I can't say I've been around long enough to see big changes in the 'scene'.
I was just wondering, were there any big trance radioshows at the time of Magik 6 and other albums in that style?
Because I can surely understand some people get really disappointed when they see a tracklist of one of Armin's new compilations.
When I started listening to trance I didn't know ANY of the songs that I heard, let alone the producers of it.
Nowadays I listen to ASOT every once in a while, and when i saw the tracklisting of UR 2004 i was like "hmm, been there, done that". But i can imagine that it's a f*cking brilliant cd for people who are just getting into trance, like Magik 6 was for me!
I just bought ASOT 2005 this morning, and so far i'm very satisfied, the first cd (haven't heard the second one yet) is extremely well mixed in my opinion. I really enjoy having al those 'overplayed' tracks on cd! :D
Oh and sandstorm03, you have some points there, but you also have a really irritating way of putting them out. And you must be crazy to say that "I know you're gone" by Max Graham has 'no substance at all'... :wtf: Brilliant track in my opinion. But oh well, you'll probably call me an Armin-butt-kisser or something in that range cause i happen to have a Armada pic in my signature.. :nervous:
Just my 2 cents ;) |

even though everyone says trance is still stuck back in 1999 or 2000. IMO, trance has definitely changed. i do see how there are a lot of tracks that do copy the same style as back in the day, but there are so many tracks which have their own feel. i mean... on top of that the equipment has been getting better. just listening to the percussion, the quality of sounds being used, sound effects, the atmosphere of tracks i can assure you trance has changed... and imo sounds great.
i dunno... for me, the quality of sound has gone up, but there were ALWAYS (lemme stress always) bad tracks that mimiced and copied others. its not like in 1999-2000 there were any less of them. you gotta weed out the good ones and bad ones... that is all. |

I think Max Graham is a brilliant producer, his mix of 12 is quite good, even though Orkeidas Mix is a brilliant masterpiece which was a little better.
But he has manny better productions then Gone...
compair Gone to his work of JFOS - Do what you want (max's afterhours mix)
you should be able to notice that it has a unique feeling & amazing bassline with some great percussion... |

yea but my main point is that you could essentially take trance today and it most likely has the same elements, at the same times as it did in 99... |

| But i think none of you can deny the fact that UR 2004, ASOT 2004/2005 are great cd's for regular trance listeners/people new to the scene, they are still a pretty good representation of the popular trance styles at this moment.. |
