| indeed A.J., Ian has made the point oh so clearly in those posts. Armin is now what he used to be. Sad, but true :sadgreen: |

I have to admit though there arnt many surprises on this compilation but oh well, there still great traxx. :toocool: and perfectly assembled and mixed together. |

change can be for the better and for the worst. In armin's case it's clearly for the worst. |

In your opinion, and this is also why the Ian quote falls down. It reminds me of the other 99vrs 2005 trance thread. You know you're getting old when you start saying stuff like "back in my day the music was soo much better" just like your parents!.
Ians entire post was biased to his personal taste not following the current ASOT 'sound' , ASOT 'used' to have variety, I'd argue it has MORE variety now, from the slow proggy stuff at the beginning to full on by the end.
In my opinion, this album is better than ASOT2004, it just flows better to me, its more enjoyable to listen to. Its a progression, its evolution in a good way.
But I'm curious as to why the likes of phortastic and sandstorm continue to go out of their way to try and convince everyone armin is no good. What is this 'need' to have others believe in this and to what end does it achieve?.
I don't like scootar, but I dont go posting on their forums in a thread about a new album by them, then continue posting over and over in an album thread putting them down, that's just plain sad!.
Like I said before, promoting something you feel is good is a positive thing, both for spreading the love of music, but also promoting the scene as a whole.
Going out of your way to put something down or convince others somethings rubbish... WHY?!?. It doesn't make sense.
Armin has moved on.. IS moving on, to music he likes to spin, if you dont like that evolution fine, but you're not going to change him, or make him go backwards to an earlier sound, the world moves on!. If you can't deal with that fine!, listen to another DJ that has the 'sound' your after, I'm sure this constant bashing hurts his feelings, because in many ways its quite nasty.
I'd feel the same. If I made a thread about a new track of mine and someone posted "I listened to it, didn't like it at all, was rubbish/crap/" I wouldn't mind!. Even phortastic in this thread said my track was 'crap' I wanted to know why in more detail, asked him nicely and got the response i wanted which was that he went into detail of why he felt it was crap. I wasn't angry or upset, because its not to his taste :)
BUT, if someone on this imaginary thread of mine about my own track, said it was rubbish, i was rubbish, not as good as I used to be, going downhill.. and KEPT ON posting in that thread after other peoples posts over and over, trying to put me down, of course I'd be hurt, I'm only human. I would want to know why this person was doing what they were doing, instead of moving on.
Its the same for Armin, you think he doesn't notice what goes on in threads?, its almost like hate or something, and if it IS to try and somehow 'convince' him to take a backwards step in his music tastes and style then forget it. He's moved on, along with a LOT of us trance lovers too, who apreciate the music being made today.
Long may it continue evolving the way it is!

jup i can confirm that. You were not angry and asked nicely what i didnt like about it. And that is something i respect you for alot. You want to know what i thought was bad about it so you could maybe work on it in the future (or not, cause its just not my style). And like i said i enjoyed alot of your previous tunes. But as for this album only cd2 can move me.
And another thing i dont try to convince people not to listen to it. In fact i dont give a if the whole world listens to it. If i gave that impression then you misunderstood me :) |

While I can see some of your points I want to use the following tracklist to show something
2001-11-17 Armin van Buuren Live at Club Passion in Coalville (ID&T Radio 2001-12-14) (UK)
01 Sasha - Xpander (Hybrid Mix)
02 Carissa Mondavi - Solid Ground (Markus Schulz Mix)
03 Sleepfreaks - P.H.B. (Directors Cut)
04 Mike Vandenberg - Spooky
05 Halogen - Charged
06 Brother Brown - Star Catching Girl (Sander Kleinenberg Mix)
07 Paul Gaarn - Inhale
08 Oliver Klein - Timeloop Remixes (Lazlo Panaflex Remix)
-break-
09 ID - ID065
10 IIO - Rapture (Armin van Buuren Remix)
11 Trancesetters - The Saga
12 Bodyshock - Rain In The City
with the exception of 10, you'd not expect armin to have played ANY of that stuff, he was capable of being different, All I see from new tracklists is samey, It's nothing to do with being nostalgic, it's that i honestly think he was more varied as a DJ and strong as a producer (when he had an engineer) than he is now. A lot of DJs have become like this, but I think it fits for Armin. |

Could you get a signed statement from armin that he loves every track that he spins, and that they are all high quality productions? |
