ASOT2005 Compilation tracklist released (pg. 17)

just got ASOT 2005 today. i'm also rather confused about why each CD only has 13 tracks. At first, when i saw the tracklisting posted in this thread, i figured that 15-17 tracks per CD would mean very short tracks. but i'd rather have a lot of short tracks and a CD that ENDS than 13 tracks with a fade-out ending!
CD1 was rather ambient, very relaxed. Shivers was probably the highlight of it, and even that took a few listens. disappointed that the CD just fades out at the ending, and that it's only 64 minutes long.
CD2 has more bass, but i think will take some more time to get used to. again, only 13 tracks, and only 53 minutes long. damn. I was actually looking forward to Liquid Overdose's "Ancient Space [Fred Baker Remix]" as an ending. but no such luck.
thinkin' i liked ASOT 2004 better. |

Yup, that totally sucks, but it was out of Armin and Armada's control. I do feel sorry for the americans that want to buy this album, they have to get the import version for the full tracklisting.
Even the UK version has an extra mixmag interview on it (i think?)

I though this compilation was bellow average. A few good tracks but the rest was pretty poor.
From CD 1 I only liked Statica - Space Guitar. A great track and it definatly stands out in this mix. The rest is same old synths, same old basslines, same old samples, same old syncopation and on top of that, boring melodies with boring synth programming.
CD 2 was quite a lot better, but still not even as good as ASOT2004 I thought. I liked a few tracks, but some tracks I normally liked had crappy remixes and were placed at weird places within the mix. Didn't really flow. |

man their album (Mindscapes) is ing out of this world.... There is a thread about it. If you like ambient house (dunno how to describe it better) then buy this for sure!
Its one of the best albums of the last years IMO. So relax, yet very dance-able. Love it. |
