Thanks for this thread, even though it looks a little dead right now. But i will still give it a try.
About 8 of us are coming down from Canada on the PVD weekend (fri-sun). So far we have planned to go to the aforementioned PVD on Sat as well as Sander K at crobar on Fri.
First off, I would like to know if Crobar is worth staying at the whole night or would it be better to go to another club before hitting up Sander (what time does a headliner normally start at Crobar too?).
A follow up Q is any suggestions for which bar/club is worth hitting up Fri (if needed) and Sat (after PVD)? We're all in our early 20's, and as a result dont have $100's to spend at a bar, so nothing crazy but something nice.
We're, of course, trying to book a hotel as well. Nothing too cheap, like something around the $200 or less per night range (in a good location). So far I've found Sheraton Manhatttan/New york hotel & towers, Washington Jefferson hotel, The Warwick, Radisson Lexington Hotel, and the W Hotel @ 541 lexington Ave (a friend has already booked here via hotwire, but he didnt specify two doubles, and it seems like they only offer two singles or 1 queen). Anyone have any suggestions from these bunch or any other recommendations?

the headliner at crobar usually goes on around 2 am or so - nothing in this city gets started until at least 1 am...the club will be pretty empty until 1 am.
as for hotels - i wouldn't recommend the W hotels in nyc - i had to stay in them while i was here for work before moving to nyc and the rooms are small and it's about the "scene" at the W hotel bars - i'm sure you can find something better and cheaper. |

I went to Keybar last night, as recommended on the list. Good cocktails, good music. :) |

one of my all time faves.. always a nice vibe in there, especially saturday nights! glad u enjoyed it :D
im not much of a bar person, so i just scribbled down a few, but maybe ill start a regular thread to ask for people's fave bars and lounges and then compile those answers and add them to the visitor's thread.

Happy "hour" at Keybar 5-10pm is responsible for this rotten headache I still have. Was good to meet some cool people in there too, since I'm here with my job therefore travelling alone and the people I work with aren't really into music or going to clubs/bars. Would be good to meet so NY TAs while I'm here. |

It's pretty tedious here at work, so I'll be on here this week, at least. Not sure when I'll be asked to come back, I hope it happens, I love this city!
I like it all really, from house in all it's guises, breaks, techno and trance. I was most into trance around 95-03, promoting my own night in London (Sleepless) for 5 years from 98, but got a little bored with the same sound that seemed to be produced by everyone. I love psytrance most of all, I'd say. |
