Tiesto14. Do you really think these dj's are struggling to pay the bills. Do you think their children are going to starve unless they take these gigs. |
Do you think Bill Gates was struggling in 1992 with Microsoft? Do you think Alex Rodriguez was struggling when he was a rookie? Do you think Tom Cruise was struggling after making 4 movies?
Of course not....whats your point? Do you have a career and understand the world?

Wake up and smell the coffee. Tiesto gets payed plenty for his gig's in clubs, in fact, for what he does he gets payed far too much. Opening amusment rides imo is his foot in the door to pop world, he's sold out what little credability he had left with this gig and I bet he's getting payed plenty for it too. |
He sold out to who? you? i could care less what Tiesto does and i have been a fan for almost 10 years....he sold out...jeez what a bunch of crap...the man is building his career...it is a business. |

yes very much so.....just because you make a certain amount of money and are stable DOES NOT mean you do not want to make more...pretty simple concept. |

I agree a bit with Tiesto14 but really lets not look at it from a money standpoint who wouldnt want to DJ for the Olympics and go down in history as the first and maybe only DJ to ever do that? Thats an incredible oppurtunity.
Who wouldnt want their own concert where they can have live acts and put on a big show to entertain people between songs.
Alot of it would money driven yes but I mean really there must be an insanely great feeling to throwing a concert that gets sold out where your the one performing.
Nothing different from what a band does.
I hear all this sell out talk about Tiesto but no one mentions that BT worked with Nsync on their Pop album (I think thats the name)
:stongue:
Not worked up or attackin just stating my opinion:) |

People are just mad because stuff isn't as "underground" anymore, I'm not defending Tiesto, I think he is a ing money hungry whore who would play a kids bar mitzvah if he was paid enough, but still artists are going to try to go more mainstream if they have the chance. Its how the music industry works. |
Why is he a money hungry whore and you are not?
You both have jobs and hope to earn way past any expectations u ever had...so are you just bitter because he makes so much money that you may never see?
I never really understood why people got mad at people for advancing their careers when it comes to music and label them sellouts yet dont in any other industry.
And i would bet 10gs you would MC that bar mitzvah for a measly 3gs...so who are you fooling?

On the other hand its how you choose to go mainstream that makes the big difference, Tiesto does it based on PR and name, not talent, he is by far one of the most over rated DJ's in history, and his productions, tho good in the past, especially his remixes, are now lacking anything special. Its the fact that, while his actual talent and quality have gone down, that he has become more popular, elevating him from an artist respected and known for his ability, to an artist that is based solely on name and hype. |
I agree Tiesto's talent is compared to yesterday.
And i guess you werent around back when Tiesto was at his best because you say he was respected? not around here he wasnt...ever since i can remember Tiesto has been a joke of a DJ to many people....especially on here. I really do not think Tiesto ever got that much respect.
Hype is what sells my friend.....sad but true..... |

You've hit the nail on the head. It's just a business now, hence the reason you get so much e out there, so much formulaic trance music that has the exact same sound, just in it for the $$.
It's pointless trying to have a discussion on tiesto with someone whose name is tiesto I suppose. |

Listen i dont even really like Tiesto anymore....i mean i will always be loyal...and i still collect his sets...but i wouldnt go to another Tiesto show nor do i even dig what he plays anymore...so i am not his biggest fan..so u are wrong as far as discussing with me.
It is not just a business NOW...it has always been a business...it's just more popular now is all. And you can;t blame for Tiesto for the entire EDM market. yes his newer tracks are lacking...but to be honest i havent heard more then 10-15 tracks since early 2003 to now that i would consider brilliant...just a bunch of half ass tunes that are fillers between the good ones...
For instances...this Fictivision and Phynn thing is crap....and people swear these tunes are mint...they are boring, formulaic and lack anything worthy of putting them in a set..yet DJs do...go figure....
Basically since the business has grown so much over such a short span of the past few years...producers are coming out of the woodwork hammering out, for example 5 average tunes, as oppose to 1 or 2 banging tunes like they used to. This is because the market is at its highest...so the more they release the more will get played and hence the more exposure and money...
Thats why i dont even bother with epic trance anymore....a part from the random set that i see that grabs my attention i dont bother...except for Tiesto cus i like having a collection....not cus i dig what he plays....
I like most EDM listeners have ventured over to the prog side, leaning more towards prog house cus i jsut cant stand the crap thats being produced by EVERYBODY.....if u have heard 2 tracks produced in the past 2 years u have heard them all....same old structure.
And there is no need for these guys to inovate because its selling...so why chance what is working....and all it is doing is working for the masses and not the true fans like us. Am i bitter that these guys are going for the money and not the quality? a little...do i blame them? hell no.....its a tough world out there and throats sometimes need to be cut to get ahead and survive.....like i said money makes the world turn....and thats what they are realizing. Cant really blame them. |
