Sellout to who?

Me being a huge fan of Tiesto for almost a decade and i can say that i dont care if he soldout...i think its a tad cheesy...but doesnt really bother me.

I am sure Tiesto is getting applause from his accountant...

Probably, yeah.

OK....but what u stated earlier was that WHY does Tiesto do this when he makes enough from DJing in clubs...and the same can be said about A-Rod....why bother with sponsers when he makes enough playing the game. YOu are chaning arguements.

Yes but like Beckham or Ronaldinho, doing ads and being sponsored by Adidas or Nike, does not affect how they play. As for Tiesto playing in Disney, this is having a direct rammification on his career, whether he likes it or not. I was all for the Olympics gig and the concert thing...THAT was a smart move, it was groundbreaking, it did lot for the "scene" and it was cool at the same time...but this Disney thing, I just don't see the point...I'm sorry.

Go shoot over to the Tiesto forums and u will see his fans dont really care....so not sure what fans u mean.

And besides...if Tiesto plays this Disney gig and attracts 100 more fans then it was worth it..because thats 100 more people who know him, will go to more shows, buy CDs, tell their friends to do the same...other companies will see Tiesto is a hot item since he is playing for Disney and they will want to have him play for them....its called EXPOSURE and its priceless.

Well...I guess I would have to agree on this one. Before, it used to be artists like DJ Sammy and songs like Castles in the sky which attracted new EDM fans into the scene...now that job belongs to Tiesto, I guess...

Then does it really matter? It's just a party, at night, except it's at Disneyland.

Hmm, lets look back.

I said there are many people over the years that have given a lot more to dance music than tiesto and there are still people doing so.

"Would you prefer to be commercial and well known and have a big fanbase which will forget you after a couple of years or be more underground and have a smaller hardcore fanbase which follows your entire career?"

guess which one he chose. and guess which one Tiesto would choose

The thing is you cant really help that you dont exactly have a choice. Kids at my old high school would be like oh paul van dyk!! he makes great techno!!

Im sure paul would be like wtf who are these noobs listening to my muzik but again again its not like he can help that his cds get around or his mixes and singles.

That's completely different. I'm not an NSync fan and never will be, but that album is very well produced for what it was intended. BT may suck as a DJ, but producing-wise, he's still a genious. I mean, did you seriously expect BT to produce a trance album for NSync? Come on man...be realistic.

I dont know where I mentioned I thought he was gonna make a trance album...*looks around* nope dont see it.

I think this thread has become a pure bitching thread but ill just say that I think people are taking it to seriously I still dont think if offered another DJ would say no to the olympics if you did your just not willing to do it than you take life to seriously. Its all in fun no big deal honestly.

I totally understand your point and see where you are coming from. But i think the days of Tiesto playing good sets stopped after he played Dutch Dimensions 02.02.02...thats when he started to fail...waaayyy before any of this stuff. So i dont think it will affect his career...i see it making him more money...and being a bigger name...which to me makes his career flourish.

Well i know fans that came to EDM after hearing PVD, Tiesto, Picotto, Ferry, Armin and countless other DJs....

However I think you are talking about the people that are halfass EDM fans...the ones who dig it because it is the cool thing to do....and yes i have to agree that Tiesto is doing that now...but again...how does that make a difference to you and I?

Listen...i used to be like you and want everything underground...and i used to say what you say...but i realized that it really doesnt matter...so long as i enjoy what i listen to...cus in the end thats all that matters...it makes no difference if i like a tune all by myself or that every little boy and girl likes....one day u will see that also.

more like to test your knowledge....but you failed that test...because you would of named names....

And yes Tiesto does give a lot to the scene...as did Oakey...both are pioneers in their own right...PVD is another.....

So again...can u name the ones u mean? Or where you just trying to look like a smart EDM genius?

You cannot be more wrong man about me. I just said I applauded Tieso for what he did at the Olympics and about the whole In Concert thing (including releasing the DVD). Things like that are what move the scene forward (Yes, again the word scene LOL).

I have no problem with EDM moving away from underground...but there are ways to do this that don't involve wearing a Mickey Mouse cap. I, for instance, push and push EDM onto my friends so that they can appreciate the beauty of it and so they can feel what you and all TAs here feel when listening to that one tune we love. I want it to be on radiostations all over the world and I want it to be the biggest music section on Best Buy. But like I said before, there's ways to do this.

Whats the difference if someone hears it on the radio or at Disney? As long as they hear it? If youa re all for pushing EDM onto people then why dont the people at Disney deserve it?

Sven Väth for one. Trance would hardly exist if it wasn't for him, and he didn't "sell out", so to speak.

You make a valid point. Still, I can't help to lose a lot of respect for the guy after this.

I know who i'm talking about and really that's all that matter's to me.

I'm not going to start listing pioneers of edm, you can quite easily use the search function and do it yourself.

I'll leave you with the bellville three.

LOL none of which are not Trance,,,,,and Derrick May, Juan Atkins, Kevin Saunderson AND Jeff Mills are ALL given credit for their impact on the Detroit Techno scene...they are all pioneers and that is very well known. So you made no sense by using them as examples.

Straight away, three people who started house/techno music (back in the 70's) which later spawned into the music you listened to today.

They created Detroit Techno..not house. And i give them credit more then you would ever know...go search my old posts and you will see how many times i mention them.

I dont feel Hawtin has done all that much for the scene then Tiesto...to be honest.

If you think Kraftwerk arent given the credit they deserve you are new to the scene...cus they have always been credited for their innovative work...for decades now.

Sasha, AGAIN, has been given the credit he earned...DJ Wise...come on now...comparing apples to oranges now arent you? Whats next on your list Q-Bert?

Okenfold in his prime deserves some serious respect and imo one who gets hugely overlooked is corsten - i've always though he was a better producer than tiesto, if he had the pr company behind him tiesto did then no doubt he'd be the one at disey land.

Oakey should get the most respect when it comes to TRANCE then anyone u mentioned so far...cus he is a TRANCE DJ...unlike everyone else u mentioned...and Tiesto is a TRANCE DJ...so u have failed AGAIN!
Ferry does deserve more credit..i agree..

How is Tiesto tkaing the credit for it? Can you tell me how? Did he say so?

Half ass performances? Like i said only about 10% of the people at shows really care about beatmatching and technical things like that...the rest want a good show with lights, fluffy catchy tune and a energetic DJ making them dance...and that is exacltey what Tiesto deleivers....the majority of people that go to shows could give a rats ass if he trainwrecks or not...to be honest i have been an EDM fan for most my life (pushing 30) and i could care less about it..unless it is really bad...

You are hung up about worlds number 1 DJ award,.....christ u are a n00b...only n00bs care about crap. Why would u take an award that honors Benny Bennassi better then most other DJs seriously?

That award is a popularity contest and not a technicaly award...he should not that it is voted by the fans.
