Lemme tell you something...Mp3s didnt get big till the late 90s...the scene has been big way longer...lol...i cant beleive u jus said that.
YOu said cus of your MP3s collection...which i find hillarious...
I am still waiting for someone to explain to me why it matters that Tiesto plays Disney...
And by the way...the scene wouldnt miss you or your PVD live set collection. |
Hmmm....OK...
Yes...mp3's got big in the late 90's...and that allowed for stores like Beatport and others to SELL (note the word SELL) mp3s. Being a regular customer at Beatport, and spending my money on around 25 compilations/artist albums every year for the past 13 years, I would say I do have some sort of effect on the scene, just like many many TAs here. |

There's also no reason to insult people who for some reason have become or were born disabled.
Grow up. |

Dude...that is an absolutely dumb comparasion. Bill gates doesn't have "fans". He will not be labeled as a sellout if he ventures into new business opportunities. Entering the gaming industry is just a smart move man and stockholders for Microsoft will applaud him for it...it's the nature of busines...GROWTH! |
OH so it IS because it makes him a "sellout"!
Sellout to who?
Me being a huge fan of Tiesto for almost a decade and i can say that i dont care if he soldout...i think its a tad cheesy...but doesnt really bother me.
I am sure Tiesto is getting applause from his accountant...

And as for Alex Rodriguez, what he does OUTSIDE (note the word OUTSIDE) the playing field will not affect his game INSIDE the playing field. |
OK....but what u stated earlier was that WHY does Tiesto do this when he makes enough from DJing in clubs...and the same can be said about A-Rod....why bother with sponsers when he makes enough playing the game. YOu are chaning arguements.

I know artists have to make money and have to think about their futures, but my point was stated before that Tiesto doesn't need more money...it's not as if he's getting paid 5 million for the gig. He's receiving what he would get paid in 5 gigs man. And in the case of the Disney gig, this directly involves what his fans adore him for which is why it is so different from the two cases you mentioned. |
I dont know what Tiesto is getting payed....so we cant say for sure he could make it in 5 gigs..i said 100gs as a random figure.
Go shoot over to the Tiesto forums and u will see his fans dont really care....so not sure what fans u mean.
And besides...if Tiesto plays this Disney gig and attracts 100 more fans then it was worth it..because thats 100 more people who know him, will go to more shows, buy CDs, tell their friends to do the same...other companies will see Tiesto is a hot item since he is playing for Disney and they will want to have him play for them....its called EXPOSURE and its priceless. |

It doesn't matter in the grand scheme of things.
The thing that bothers me is he's slowly turning trance music into pop music, and pop music = e!!!!!
He also gets payed stupid amounts of money for mixing two pre-recorded records, and he can't even do that well. Fair enough if he had created some kind of spectacular live set that he was performing as a one off for these events, but he's just dj'ing at them. Poor show imo.
There are so many more people in the scene over the years who have done so much more for dance music than he has and they get no recognition for it. There are still people doing more than tiesto in the scene today, and they get no recognition for it.
But because tiesto has the backing of a PR company he gets in there first for everything.
If you want to accept that then that's fine, i'm just expressing my view on the whole situation be it right or wrong in your eyes. |

A very minimal effect...at best...
Your affect is no greater then mine on the blank media industry...yes i buy about 20 fifty packs of blank Verbatim CDRs..but if i stopped buying it would have zero impact on the company.... |

pop music = popular music aka music that most people like.
So what you are saying is that you cant like what other people like?
Lets say for example your favorite trance tune, and i mean your #1 tune of all time, began to be played on the radio 50 times a day and every little 14 year old girl started humming the melody while riding on their 10 speed bikes with the bananna seats, bells and streamers, would you all of sudden not like that tune?
IF you say yes you would stop liking the tune then you are a poser.
If you say no you would still love the tune then you are a hypocrite.

Why on earth does it make a difference what he gets payed....does it affect your life? Matter fact it cant affect the scene...if anything it could make the scene grow by him investing that money into BlackHole recordings and signing new talent...like Mark Norman, Cor Fijneman, Mojado, Monatana, Ton TB etc...so i dont see a problem.

That's the thing... it won't happen. Well, maybe with trance, but not with minimal techno. :p I mean, some people take pride in being able to enjoy music that other people can't. They've listened for a long time to a large amount of music, thus acquiring a taste for it, and that's what makes them special.
Now, about Tiesto. If he can't even do a one-minute mix between two tracks, he should leave the decks for good. |

tiesto14 your an idiot mate.
Blind to anything that isn't tiesto.
Are you seriously trying to tell me that dance music was all tiesto's doing. That he is the reason we go clubbing at the weekend, that it was him who made the first electronic record.
You are completely missing every point i make. and i'm not going to try and explain it to someone who doesn't want to listen. |

WHAT SCENE??????????????????????????????
LOL...i dont get this ......
Oooooohhhh cus Disney is a mainstream thing...
Well so it Sensation, Trance Energy, Mysteryland and Innercity in Holland....all huge events that are advertised every which way for months...and 80% of the DJs in attendance are wack...
So if u ask me ID&T kills this so called scene more then Tiesto will ever...
But again what scene...lol
You people act like you are part of some underground elite hush hush scene that no one one earth knows about unless they download a certain M.I.K.E. track then decode the ID3 tag to find binary code that they must decipher to get an address to a phone booth 50 miles into the unknown where they answer a call and are then told the real hidden ajenda of THE SCENE!!!!! dun dun!!!!! |

Wait wait wait...you have a point?
you fooled me...all i see u ramble on about is Tiesto is rich and he sells out his fans...but his fans dont care...did u check the Tiesto forums at tiesto.com? So i guess hes not a sellout..because in theory you can ONLY sellout to your fans...you cant sellout to people who didnt like you to begin with...so that confirms he didnt sell out.
So ya u have shown zip. |
