yep... i've seen that happen before, and having residents complaining about noise and problems clubs were creating brought the "everything shuts off at 1am" law in effect, which in turn killed tourism and nightlife in Budva (Montenegro), one of the most beautiful tropical resorts out there...

Ill be sure to avoid that place when I go to Croatia and area....

pretty much, yea... you gotta hit those bastards with counter-arguments though. expose weaknesses of their arguments (especially if you can show they are being too subjective in their arguments), and then hit them back with cold hard figures and arguments in favour of certain issues...

Whats funny is how many people here who are usually advocating restricting the rights of others are the same ones suddenly screaming about their rights being trampled "in the name of public safety"

The arguement against afterhours uses the same exact logic that all the other arguments before it have.

Well that's obvious Jay...most people just care about what's good for them...if the issue doesn't personally affect them they don't really care always.

Thats been my point all along. And now suddenly this line of thinking is affecting them. I hate to say i told you so but........

This is exactly what i mean when i say that some people dont see the big picture.

Hmm, well, politics is such. You have to have an immediate response of blaming SOMETHING, and in this case, it was the afterhours club. Nevermind the fact that these gunmen stormed the place over security(if it's the same story I'm referring to).
starsearcher
Another thing to consider here is simply placing a blame on someone for a problem they can't control....

something along the lines of "we can't control the gun probm in TO so let's see what can we blame it on....oh yeah of course...after hours clubs"

Mammoliti is an open joke at Council. He doesn't have the respect, credibility or clout to develop support for any measure of this magnitude.

That makes a lot more sense...I know the Guv owners posess a lot of power in the city and own quite a few business other than the Guv (for example).

We can get the DJs themselves up...the ones that are like an insitution in TO - someone like Mark Oliver.

PVD in his global DVD has a few messages against drugs which is a good thing.

Starsearcher did you misread everything I printed. I suggested that we contact club owners. But just so you know...no club owner will form an association. it's been tried before. We can only form a separate body that has them onboard as spokesperson. Dj's and artist involvement are a given.

If these politicians want to clean up crime they should hire some cops. They might also want to try finding the thousands of people in this country who have been ordered deported yet still roam freely.

^^ Irrelevant

AND Actually there have been times that I've been afraid at guv... This CAN happen anywhere NOT just hip hop clubs and unfortunately it's the innocent by-standards that get seriously injured or killed.

I've had a gun pulled on me, I won't disclose where BUT it wasn't at a hip hop club and when you've had something like this happen to you
it opens up your eyes

Wasn't there a shooting at Fluid?? AND at Film Lounge?

There should be concern amongst party goers about safety and security...

LOL ...gone only a few minutes and soo much has been discussed.

Crazyserb...u and I are in sync here... thousands is the number I'm thinking of too.

Starsearcher...you weren't at the Rave Rally like I was...if you were, then you'd know the answer to this Nathan Phillips party.

I'm counting on that right now.

If some credible bone head decides to backup Mammoliti, then we'll have to take the next step.
And I hope that's what this thread is about...rather than just changing the direction of this thread to a rant at how it's unfair to close down our dance places early and that no matter what we try it'll fail.

Well...that's a lunch rap guys. Let's meet again once we hear more. Till then...live long and party!

Hey Jayx1... put your money where your mouth is and source/call Mammoliti's office today (I'll be busy) to see if a proposal will be put on the table to really close down all clubs early.

So are you going to do it? Asking about this is not going to encite some action... you could just say your school newpaper want to hear what he is proposing to do because of this after hours club shooting incident :p

I hope to see something posted here about this. If not, then you know how to reach me if your having probs with doing this :toothless
