Should the guy pay for the date? (pg. 2)

I think it should be based on who's making more money. Like if one person is a student and the other works full time, the person who works should pay for the first date....past that I think it should be split fairly.

It's not fair to expect a guy to always pay, though it would be nice to offer paying (that goes for the girls too).

i mean, this isn't the 50's where the man supports the stay at home wife. my gf and i have the same sort of part time job, make approx the same wage, so why should the guy be expected to pay all the time. its not like we have a goldmine or something. luckily i've never had that financial problem when dating though, its just always seemed to work out. (on another note don't be a cheap skate either, as long as shes not a high maintence bitch, it will usually work out fine).

AMEN BROTHER!

If it's coffee, fast food, or something that's under say...$20.00 the guy should pay. Just call me old fashioned, but it can give you a good rep.

A word of advice from an older guy to younger guys, don't be cheap, she will cost you more in the end.

Considering my romantic life has been more of a comedy lately, I probably shouldn't be providing input.. Oh well.

Whenever I've taken anyone out, I've always offered to pay. Ironically, the ones that ended up staying around for a while (in whatever capacity) are the ones that at least offered to pay their share. In that case, I let them handle the tip. That way..

a) The server's well recognized, and
b) You both learn a bit about eachother's boundaries.

But yeah.

dating. I've given up on the complicated, tangled mass of Christ-only-knows-what that is the Female Mind.

i think taking turns works best.. i don't like splitting bills w/ dates or just going out w/ friends.. it all evens out when you take turns

i don't know about that one. i think the first few months say a lot about your relationship, and if every single time you go out the guy pays, thats what its goign to imply. and some girls will either thrive off of that as a hootchie...or some girls will feel uncomfortable as they're being 'baught' becuase face it 90% of the time its $20...ie. a club, coffee, movie, fast food etc.

on the engagment ring side, thats one thing i've never understood. when the girl gets married they never wear the engagment ring anymore (sweeping generalization on that comment, cause i don't know it for a fact, but most of the time i only see a wedding band...so i've never understood why that has to be such a high investment).

I've never known any woman to think that they are being "bought" at $20.00 increments:sadgreen: Maybe expensive dinners...$100.00 or more....

HOLY !!! I have just realized that my wife has conditioned me over the years to not think that $20.00 is a large amount...(thinking while I type...) WHAT A HEAD JOB!!! HOW DID THIS HAPPEN!!

...Just thought of something else, "...But honey it was only $50.00." I'm not sure what's worse, the fact that the item was $50.00 or the fact that she thought it was ONLY $50.00!!

...OH God...I think I'm having a stroke!

your future sounds like you will end up with a gold digger who will leave you if you ever lose your job.

Sorry but im of the belief that you should equally put in what you take out and that doesnt just go for money.

Better advice: Date foreign girls or the select few canadian ones who actually appreciate a guy who doesnt treat them like a second class citizen and who probably wont dig for gold unless you let them.
