| Because that's when people first heard it. In reality that is when trance was destroyed creatively. |

I kind of agree with that a bit '97 /98 were most creative i think (epic progressive trance / house). 1999 did have many remixes of tunes from 1993/94. But they were justified and worthy unlike many remixes today.
quick snippet from mentioned essential mix...
For those that remember the feeling LISTEN to '99 (and those that don't :haha: ) |

| '99 exploded it into the rest of the world, specifically America. I know some of the first mixes I ever heard were Paul Oakenfold's '99 Essential Mixes: Miami, London, etc. |

i agree with statement but i would qualify it with a 'most'.
i think the special years predate 1999 and 2000, when trance was still harder to find and more undefined. producers were likely to be influenced by one another and henceforth didn't sound as similar and were more creative. |

Space Manoeuvres - Stage One [Total Separation Mix]

OMFG
Just hearing that Jon Vesta - Gull AGAIN is sending so many shivers down my spine ive had to kneel down at my pc.
99 / 00 was the best years. I hope im around whenever something drops again in a few years and starts that feeling over and over again.
we had it in 94/95 with the reactivate compos, dj hooligan, perplexer and all that hardcore stuff.
then it died down, then came back around 97/98 and exploded in 99.
Its gonna happen again just a matter of time for the deadwood and "template" producers to off.
two things though that i thought made sense about why its so changed and the tunes now feel less alive is this:
the current state of the world atm
the way in which the tracks are made (software)
these may add to why things arent as good. |
