What was '99/'00 all about? (pg. 9)

Holy #%!@! that remember99-thing gave me some serious goosebumps! Is that Gull-tune hard to get hold of?
99'-00' was fun .. and heavy :p

Everytime I listen to the oaky essential mixes, or various other great sets from 99-00, it just gives me chills, trance is definitly not like it was, the atmosphere is just not there. I wish it was, I'm another TA who wishes they had a time machine because they couldn't be there to experiance it in person. Hopefully one day trance will have the same feeling again.
Just a side note, for me, after 2003 trance seemed to all start to sound the same. I still love trance, but definitly not as much as I did back in those days. Oh and I wish I could buy Jon Vesta - Gull :) |

That's a fallacy, and one derived from your own particular interpretation of how everyone here thinks, when more accurately you don't really have a clue. It doesn't matter when you started listening to trance, because if you take any epic/anthem/progressive trance track, no matter how obscure, without knowing the year of release, you will find that the most original, engaging and altogether good tracks do actually come from 1998-2001 (I could stretch that to 1997).
I didn't start listening to trance in 1998/9, and neither when I started listening did I devour anything and everything enthusiastically.
You may as well say that you only think trance was better in 1991-1995 or whatever, because that's when you started listening to it. So by your logic, your objective opinion on the genre is just as biased as anyone who you accuse of being blinded by the "newness" of trance in 1999.
Of course, you will disagree, and start bringing up your usual stupid where you tell us you have a vendetta against epic/anthem/progressive/whatever trance because it shouldn't be called trance. In reality, if I was going to be as arrogant as you and tell you why you hold opinions, it's because you're doing that simple, reliable human trait of bashing something popular simply for it's own sake. |

I hope i still have it anyway, such a tune. |

I coulde have sworn substance was on the b side of gull. I definlty had them both anyway, but i dont remmeber having them on seperate vinyls.

-Trance was everywhere.
-More specifically, supersaws and long breakdowns/builds were everywhere.
-Punters whom never gave EDM much grace in high-school were now raving it up big time everywhere.
-MDMA was everywhere.
-Rave fasions were everywhere.
-DJs were everywhere.
-More specifically, superstar DJs were everywhere.
-Even more specifically, delusional bedroom DJs were everywhere.
-Good trance DJ mixes were everywhere.
-Trance compilations were nowhere.:(
