"Four days after Hurricane Katrina struck, the National Guard arrived in force Friday with food, water and weapons, rolling through the floodwaters in a vast truck convoy."
Let me add, cuz this is a topic many people don't recognize...the reason we're getting such bad storms and they keep coming like bullets is because of global warming WHICH Bush hasn't addressed as an issue AND if he has...he's doing nothing else about it. |
not defending bush...but GLOBAL WARMING IS A GLOBAL ISSUE, not solely a US issue, bush isnt the only one being indifferent to this GLOBALLY enigmatic issue.
on a side note i think moore makes some valid points, but they get lost in a litany of mindless hyperbole and slanderous inferences. if he came off less sardonic and with more tact and political polish, people might be more apt to take him seriously instead of a overzealous liberal. |

you're actually one of the exact reasons i hate this country so much. you FORCE your opinions and views on other people and then call them "boneheads" when they disagree with you.
in europe they actually accept people for being different, here you're crusified if you think differently. |
I dont want to get in your bis with that guy. but i will suggest when making a point onyour point of view, to support them with examples and facts, for example the U.S suks?what are those reasons get me? you are just talking and not bakin up your points:) |

i dont need to back anything up. unlike some people in this thread, i'm not trying to force my opinions on anyone. i'm simply stating what i feel, not telling people they are wrong. |

nope... that's when national security is at stake... in that case the federal government NEEDS to focus their attention on that, but this case with the hurricane. Yes, Bush would be a ing cockbag to ignore it, but it's mostly up to the government of Louisiana to keep its area safe from storms. |
did the point that louisianna is one of the poorest states in the union pass you by? they dont have the money, thats why they were depending on federal money to subsidize the levees, which he in turn cut to reallocate to iraq. just goes to show ya that past actions have dire consequences, they just arent immediately forseable.
prolonged war in iraq> bush cuts federal aid to lousianna in favor for iraq>katrinna hits coasts>louisianna cant withstain flood waters because of inadequate levee and dikes infrastructure> catastrophe. |

"In the Netherlands, much of which lies below sea level as in New Orleans, there was some consternation that the Louisiana city was so poorly prepared, AP reported.
The nation installed massive hydraulic sea walls known as the Delta Works after devastating floods in 1953.
"I don't want to sound overly critical, but it's hard to imagine that the damage caused by Katrina could happen in a Western country," Ted Sluijter, press spokesman for Neeltje Jans, the public park where the Delta Works are exhibited, was reported as saying by AP.
"It seemed like plans for protection and evacuation weren't really in place, and once it happened, the coordination" was poor."
They can put a man on the moon, but don't know how to handle a storm!?
haha, what a jip! |

just saw the mayor of NO talking on tv... and he's really ing pissed about the relief efforts. i have been following this story as much as i possibly can with the little time i have to spend at home, but i didnt really understand how slow the relief efforts were til i heard him basically yelling about it.
it doesnt even seem right to place blame anywhere anymore. its such a tragedy, and i cant even watch the tv without being so sad for those people. that feeling totally surpasses any anger i could have for the govt, or for whoever. we ALL need to help, not just the govt. even if a billion people gave just one dollar, that is still a billion dollars. |
