here's my true and honest assessment....
Jamie does love Craig. For the first time in her life she's in a relationship that is VERY comfortable. She has no cause for complaint and she is truely happy. This has her thinking that "Craig is the one." She can honestly see herself spending the rest of her life with Craig. This scares the hell out of her. She's an attention whore, she loves nothing more then to receive the attention of men and she's worried that this will stop if she commits herself to Craig for the rest of her life. That and she's got the thought in her head "OMG, I will never be with anyone but Craig again." This is a thought we all have when we're seriously considering a life long commitment. This guy represents a number of things; a) attention from a man other then Craig, b) a "last chance" (it's never actually the last chance) to feel the excitement and passion of new lust, c) a secret memory that she can hold on to for the rest of her happy life with Craig. I'm certain this is the case because I went through the same thing after I realized I wanted to spend the rest of my life with my wife.
Jamie wants to cheat, she wants that excitement, she wants that attention, she wants that little bit of instability and she wants that secret. The very reason for this poll is in hopes that we will give her "permission" to do it. As I told her before, she can do two things.... stay true to Craig and deny her lust or cheat and hope to hell she can stomach the guilt and Craig never finds out. Most of us will encounter this situation at one point or another, I did, I'm pretty sure my wife did, and Jamie is there now. Each of us has to make our own decision.... the real hard part is living with the fallout thereof. |

Fair enough, if you are with a girl purely on a physical level, I guess the concept of having back-up shags isn't so sinister, but in a serious relationship it bloody well is, and don't try and pick away at this with logic or rationale, because those go out the window when emotions are concerned in this matter, one of the most annoying human traits. |
