I was thinking more like flying.
Do you think that if I put my head in the sand he won't find me? |

That's okay, you use Linux - you suffer enough already. :stongue: :stongue: :stongue: |

Sorry, he found you I think. He is pretending to be nice to you right now, but beware: he will attack you at any given moment. |

| Dude, I spent this past week hacking RedHat 7.2 for school. Right now, I pretty much can't stand Linux :p |

Red hat 7.2??? That thing still around Or do you mean Fedora Core?
A really good (but avanced) distro of Linux is Gentoo. You compile everything so it's long to install, but the docs are great and it really gives you a feel of how it works.
For user friendliness, there's Ubuntu... which honestly, can be a drop in replacment for Windows. |

| No we VMWared into RedHat 7.2 because the new RedHat doesn't allow stack overflow. |

Yes, we left out that feature exclusively for Windows :) |

| I have nothing to reply to that other than saying I'm going to go play NFS MW now, which s something you can't do on your ubuntu/gentoo/linuxloo. |

I agree with that, but the industry is slowly starting to realize that Linux and OSS makes much more sense than M$ Monopoly.
So Linux is getting it's games too.. like Quake for example.
You know, I have a laptop from work, that I use for games, and talking to people when sitting comfortably in bed. But when it comes doing dev. and netowrk related things, I have my trusty Snail Machine, powered by an Athlon 1.33 Ghz, underclocked at 900Mhz running Gentoo. If I would run Win XP on it, it would be horrifically slow.
This is what I love about Linux. You can use your old hardware which is still 100 times more powerfull that what they used to put the man on the moon. Think about it. How many computers will be trown away when Vista comes along, because "they aren't powerfull enough"? Hardware that is still pristine! I find it being not only an economical fart but also very bad for the environment.
And of course, as a responsible individual, I prefer having my data safe than playing games.
Microsoft did contribute a lot to the computer industry, there's no denying that. However it's also responsible for some of the industries biggest problems. Something a lot of people forget. |
