:(

I only wish I could make it as racist and heartless as you. I guess you're not going to tell me.

It was a rhetorical question.

Hey. I think it was total to not take this guy off death row. Seriously, this guy has probably saved more lives than he took by writing the books he has, than he helped take while he was an active gang member. Why the is our jsutice system so twisted that we cant see any change in a person. If life means absolutely nothing to the state of California, if advocating anti-gang movements means absolutely nothing to California, if Governer Schwarzenegger is so blind to see that this guy has changed, then there is no just state left in the union. If it wasnt obvious enough, California, known for its huge liberality, has failed in having a worthwhile government. The US government as a whole really failed the people and its jsut ing sad. As previously mentioned, Charles Manson, a brutal son of a bitch that should probably have been prison raped and then shot, sits idley for 34 ing years in a life sentence and even worse, the bag is up for parole in 2007. Seriously... what the !

Cheers,
Zac

Were Arnold to excuse the crimes that Tookie committed in his younger years, he would commission the crimes of many. This is the most likely cause of friction for this case - that coupled with; “People can change.” makes Arnold’s decision seem outright barbaric. To send a man to his death via state or governmental decision seems decidedly troglodytic in these modern times…yet I feel it sends a signal loud and clear to any that feel violence, especially lethal violence, is an answer to anything or the start of something. It is ultimately an end and Tookie has now realized this as fully and comprehensively as is possible. God’s judgment on Tookie is beyond our knowledge so we have to analyze this on a societal level. I feel awful that Tookie is now dead but on a social level, I agree that is exactly what needed to happen. Our times are not perfect therefore; our methods for corrective behavior cannot be as well. Rest in peace Tookie; and I feel bad for Arnold that he had to make a decision of such gravity as this.

There are good arguments for both sides in this thread, and while I'd like to say yeah Tookie might've learned his lesson and he became a model citizen, you still have to realize that he took the lives of 4 people.

If he was granted clemency and allowed to live the rest of his life in prison without parole, don't you think that would be a slap in the face to the relatives of the people he killed?

Well it depends. Does the family want to see revenge? Sometimes relatives don't agree with the death penalty, but it doesn't take away the pain and suffering that they've endured.

So, I would like to say that I wish he was granted clemency, because I agree with most posts in this thread, that Tookie metamorphed into a model citizen. But, on the other hand, he will always be a killer in the eyes of the families he's hurt.

Interesting point you do happen to bring up. Seeking revenge doesnt ever usually end up hurting the person on death row. Instead, they are seeking revenge on the family of the person on death row and it truely pisses me off to see people so enraged so thoughtless of everyone around them that they never give thought to the idea that they are doing to another family what murderer did to them. In my eyes, they arent really any better than the murderer if they truely want the death penalty because in the end, the people who suffer are the families...
