Is techno a form of art?

| Listening to some of the techno music by the likes of dave clarke, jeff mills, minimal producers it amazes me how techno can sound so sophisticated. It almost sounds like art. Is techno art? |

But on a serious note, yeah, but I'd say ambient is even more "art". Every track is like a living 3d painting. |

It's not sophisticated, it doesn't sound sophisticated, it's simpler and more straightforward than a lot of music, that's why it's called minimal and not maximal.
It's not any more or less art than any other music. Now stop acting like a pretentious a-hole. You listen to music that's mind-numbingly boring for the most part, deal with it. |

| what the ? any kind of music can be artistic. techno is pretty basic when you break it down, as are most kinds of electronic dance music. if you want arty farty sophisticated music go listen to some electro acoustic music or some ollllllld avant garde.. though the latter is somewhat ghey if you ask me! |

only techno is art. not trance and house. that's hilarious.
i do love techno, though. i love it because it strips away all the nonsense from a track and just keeps the fundamentals, the things that made us dance thousands of years ago and makes us dance today. the beat.
(and a little bit of bass and effects and maybe some cool vocal sample and ...) |
