The reason they are here is because corporate America - the ag companies, meat packing industry, etc. are willing to hire them for cheap labor purposes.

If nobody hired them here, they wouldn't come. It's that simple

Even though I cannot spell, I agree with you on the greed n such. But what if the jobs, like in construction, are not paying too low but what if the standard of living in the United States is too out of wack to support itself on its own wages?

thing is that the standard of living isn't that high. in NYC for example it is. BUT Moscow which is regarded as the most expensive city doesn't have anywhere close to this country's average income so i cannot agree. more importantly jobs like construction pay 20 bucks cash an hour, that is if you can get one from a company that isn't mexican-crazy. it's good money, hard work but very good money at the end.

you see the point is that the illegals are taking jobs that people with no college education want, for the most part. these are physical or skilled (kinda) jobs, yknow?

I thought Tokyo was the most expensive city in the world? And who ever said people in Moscow are all poor? Ok yes they are but thats because Russian people are stupid they overprice everything just to make more money but that results in most people not having enough money to afford these goods that is why the Russian people MUST DIE:mad:

I was listening to Alan Colmes' radio show the other night because it's the only thing on between Phil Hendrie and Tom Leykis. Colmes was out for the evening, so a guest host was conducting an interview with the lawyer filing a class action law suit against WalMart--the world's largest retailer--alleging that WalMart cheated thousands of immigrant janitors out of wages. The host argued that the janitors didn't deserve to get paid the same wage as Americans because they were illegal immigrants and shouldn't have been in America in the first place.

My bull detector went off, so I called into the show to slam him in the face with the sledge hammer of fallacy. The conversation went something like this:

Host \"Hello, you're on the air.\"
Me \"Yes, I'm calling to side with the lawyer.\"
Host \"Why?\"
Me \"Because saying that an illegal immigrant doesn't deserve to be paid the same wages as an American because he doesn't belong here in the first place is like saying that a person trapped in a well shouldn't be saved because he shouldn't have been playing around the well in the first place.\"
Host (pause)
\"Yeah... that's a good point.\"

He then hung up on me and proceeded to repeat his argument verbatim, even though I handed him a plate full of his ass with all the trimmings, only this time he added something to the effect of \"well these immigrants are coming to America and taking jobs away from Americans.\" What?

News flash: immigrants aren't taking anything from Americans. Companies like WalMart are giving jobs to them illegally. If WalMart paid a company to hire immigrants to do the job over Americans then there's probably a good reason for it. I'm sick and tired of lazy gluttonous Americans bitching about immigrants \"taking\" our jobs. It's not like they can literally come to America, ambush us in the parking lot and take our jobs.

If you lose your job to an immigrant, it's probably because he or she was willing to work harder for less money. Don't want to pay them full wages? Then don't hire them. If they do equal work, then they deserve equal pay. It's just that simple, and I'm not going to sit back like every other racist piece of bitching about having to work harder because there's a little competition for my job, immigrant or otherwise. I know I can do my job better than anyone, and if an immigrant thinks he can do a better job than I can, I welcome him to try.

What kind of chicken is afraid of competition? Can't get a job because you lost out to an immigrant? Well TOUGH . Nobody wants to pay you for your half-assed work if someone else can do it better. That's what America is all about. Our president may be a moron, but I'll be damned if I'm going to let any more jackasses sully the reputation of hard working Americans who are willing to work just as hard as anyone else with or without competition. If you can't cut it, then the people with money will pay it to someone else who can. Maybe if all you people bitching weren't such lazy, pathetic, blood sucking leeches, you'd get off of your dead ass and work HARDER to do a better job. Get some balls people. If you're too chicken and you can't cut it, then maybe it's you who doesn't deserve to live in America. Not the immigrants.

umm i don't see how that makes any sense. illegal immigrants brake the law by coming here, hence "illegal immigrants". you're not breaking the law by being trapped in a well! so explain to me your analogy there. maybe the reason he hung up is because he thought that was a ridiculous statement

firstly, thats not my article.
secondly, he's comparing two people that have done the wrong thing; legality is irrelevant. if it makes you feel better tho, lets pretend it was a well on private land with a no-trespassers sign, ok? cheers.

legality is pretty relevent when emergency rooms close down, and California spends $10 billion a year on dealing with illegal immigration. They might have the same rights as us to be here, but they are a burden on the system. I even see some of the effects by seeing my tuition go up because of it.

Marchers say gringos, not illegals, have to go

Activists turn tables, offer no amnesty for 'non-indigenous' on 'our continent'

Mexica Movement activists protest in L.A.

WASHINGTON – While debates about guest-worker programs for illegal aliens take place in the corridors of power, in the streets of America's big cities no amnesty is being offered by activists calling for the expulsion of most U.S. citizens from their own country.

While politicians debate the fate of some 12 million people residing in the U.S. illegally, the Mexica Movement, one of the organizers of the mass protest in Los Angeles this week, has already decided it is the "non-indigenous," white, English-speaking U.S. citizens of European descent who have to leave what they call "our continent."

The pictures and captions tell the story.

* "This is our continent, not yours!" exclaimed one banner.

* "We are indigenous! The only owners of this continent!" said another.

* "If you think I'm illegal because I'm a Mexican, learn the true history, because I'm in my homeland," read another sign.

"One of the more negative parts of the march was when American flags were passed out to make sure the marchers were looked on as part of 'America,'" said the group's commentary on the L.A. rally.

Both Rep. James Sensebrenner, R-Wis., chairman of the House Judiciary Committee and a proponent of tougher border security, and California Gov. Arnold Schwarzenegger were caricatured as Nazis by the group on its posters and banners.

The group insists the indigenous people of the continent were the victims of genocide – a campaign of extermination that killed, according to one citation, 95 percent of their population, or 33 million people. Another citation on the same website claims the toll was 70 million to 100 million.

The only solution, says the Mexica Movement, is to expel the invaders of the last 500 years, force them to pay reparations and return the continent to its rightful heirs.

The platform of the group illustrates the diverse – and sometimes extreme – agendas of those participating in the mass mobilizations that have been seen largely as protests against efforts to curb illegal immigration.

Some of those involved, including the Mexica Movement, have much bigger goals than stopping a piece of legislation before Congress.

The Mexica Movement has big issues with many other equally radical groups participating in the massive, united-front rallies. The group makes a point of distinguishing its goals and objectives from others, such as the separatist Aztlan Movement.

Aztlan, the mythical birthplace of the Aztecs, is regarded in Chicano folklore as an area that includes California, Arizona, Nevada, New Mexico and parts of Colorado and Texas. The movement seeks to create a sovereign, Spanish-speaking state, "Republica del Norte," or the Republic of the North, that would combine the American Southwest with the northern Mexican states and eventually merge with Mexico.

A group called "La Voz de Aztlan," the Voice of Aztlan, identifies Mexicans in the U.S. as "America's Palestinians." Many Mexicans see themselves as part of a transnational ethnic group known as "La Raza," the race. A May editorial on the website, with a dateline of Los Angeles, Alta California, declares that "both La Raza and the Palestinians have been displaced by invaders that have utilized military means to conquer and occupy our territories."

Others in the coalition hope to see a "reconquest" of the American southwest by Mexico. This would not likely take place through military action, they say, but rather through a slow process of migration – both legal and illegal.

The US MUST improve its legal immigration system before any real solution is possible with the illegal immigration problem.

The US is losing educated talent, successful people, and bright immigrants from aroudn the world because of their inept dysfunctional, irrational, and unresonable bureaucratic system formely known as the INS.

Once the US has a better system in place to attract and accept those people who can make it stronger will it be able to reject and solve the issues with people who it no longer wishes here.

Hehe sounds like the Palestinian cause :p ... and some of them even admit it!

Now all they need is to strap bombs to themselves and blow themselves up on buses and they'll get what they want!
