I would like add my 2cts;
My mother came to the USA in 1941 from Mexico but she did legally and she thinks all these illegals need to
(a) speak english
(b) become legal
or get the hell outta our country.
I get pissed off when people call it xenophobic as that has very little to do with the facts, they are here by breaking the law and we`re a nation of laws. I also hate being a self employed worker havin to compete with other companies who hire illegals who can undercut any cost I have by paying pennies on the dollar/ no taxes/healthcare/ect...
Shall we talk about how our rights are taken away for this war on terror and yet the people coming thur the open borders aren`t checked and we have no way of knowing who they are, and yet I have to get xrayed/searched each and everytime I fly within the country. If a terriost wanted to get into the country which way would you pick? sneak in during the night or go thur the customs? Hmm where are the people screaming about that? No those same people are saying we need them for our farm/ect work, what they really mean is if we`re nice to them(illegals) maybe we`ll get those votes.
Also as a Libertarian it makes me sick to know me & Rush Limbaugh agrees on this subject uggg! But the fact remains they are here illegally and unknown, they need to play by our rules.Lou Dobbs is correct too! I really like his points of veiw.
To reward them is wrong.

Well I am first generation from Mexican descent and I have to say while thier are many mexicans who don't know how to yet speak english their are still many more blacks who can't speak english. But at least the Mexicans are learning how to speak in English:o . And another thing Puerto Ricans suck so who cares what they say about Mexico they are just jealous. |

Really, they don't consider them "Spanish?" What makes Domincans and Puerto Ricans any more "Spanish" then Mexicans. Last time I checked, all of Latin America is distinct from Spain. That's like saying Canadians don't consider Americans "English." And good job on the hateful words.
Are you a speaker of Spanish? Care to show me which illiteracies you speak of that are unique to Mexico. And yes, there are native words, it's called culture integration. But I guess you think all english is the same too, like British English is the exact same as Canadian English, and the same as American English, and not one dialect is unique to its region.
and also technically, if the continent had to belong to anyone, it would be the people who occupied it before European expansion, but I guess Might Makes Right is a clear justification of means for you. |
oh ok so let's go back in history. we whipped mexican's ass in war and/or we bought land from them so how is it their's again lol? how are they more spanish? because they actually speak spanish and the illegals give all of them bad names. i worked and have friendships with many of them, i guess i'm just making that up too. which words? when i get my anthropology book that my dominican friends were refering to in class i'll let you know. oh and anyone who speaks spanish will tell you that there are different dialects. a cuban and a mexican aren't using the EXECT SAME WORDS AND PHRASES. that's like saying jamaicans speak REAL english (Whatever that might be). Americans aren't too fused with natives and could still be considered in part English since most presidents were English, you should read up sometime, except Clinton who was Irish i believe and a couple of more.

Surely you must be joking. You can't make such generalization unless you happen to be an expert on the issue. "mexicans are the lowlifes of the latin american world."? I hope you have valid information to back up that. Please share with me how you came to such a conclusion.
About the language, each Spanish-speaking country has its own words created throughout time. It would be absurd to expect every Latin American country to use the same words. Not all people welcomed the language of Spain from the start. Also, there was a need for new words to be created since the Spanish didn't have terms for things that existed in the so called New World. Native words, as you call them, were necessary. But then again, I'm not an expert on this issue, so again, please share your knowledge with me.
As for the illiteracy, don't be so proud when pointing the finger because it exists in English too.
I have a question for you, what does a person have to do to be considered Spanish? I seriously want to know because I only that in order to be Spanish the person has to be citizen of Spain, be born there.
