I too have been to fenway, and I am from Chicago, although I am a white sox fan. I think the uncomfort level in fenway is vastly overblow, Im 6'1" 180 and I was fine. I realize the seats are not what most fans are used to, however I think people look far too much into it. Check out Wrigley though, right now you will only get have of the full potential of the place, seeing as how the cubs are a joke, but you'll still see why it is in my opinion and many others the best ballpark in baseball. The surrounding neighborhood is second to none, the atmosphere (when they aren't abysmal) feels like a college party. Its as much fun as you'll have at a park, however in your refrenced ESPN collumn and by a few other writers some feel it is too much of a side show and not "pure" baseball. That is why it gets hurt in the rankings. But as long as you don't like the smell of your own farts then that shouldn't be a factor. |
so I was at Wrigley field last Friday and Saturday too see the Cubs take on the arch nemesis, the Cardinals.
wrigley is a gigantic frat party no matter where you sit. I sat behind home plate in the lower level and i did the wrigley bleachers. it's a festive atmosphere in the stands. If you want a pure baseball
experience, the drunkeness of the crowd adds to the atmosphere.
btw, old style beer is great to have at the game. It just tastes so mwell when I was drenched in the sun.
is it the best stadium i've been to in my opinon? nah...I still like PNC, AT&T and Camden slightly better. I rank it the 4th best out of 18 different stadiums I've been too. Can I make a case for Wrigley being the best stadium I've been to? You bet.
is it the best old school stadium I've ever been to? yes...you can't beat seeing the ivy and the brick all over the outfield, the center field scoreboard and the houses that lets people view the game
would I recommend anyone who likes baseball to go to a game? Most definitely...no brainer
Since we're on the topic of Chicago, US Cellular Field is a very underrated place to watch a baseball game. I was pleasently surprised at how nice it is to be at a game there. The only downsides are that there is nothing around it and that you can't see the skyline of Chicago unless on the concourse on the 3rd base side. |

| pretty cool how our no hitter guy Sanchez and Hanley Ramirez who are doing awesome this year were both traded from the red sox to us, while Beckett and Lowell are having so-so years, Marlins GM Larry Beinfest ...respect! |

Here's a great statistic: 4 of the last 9 no-no's were by Marlins pitchers ;-) |

Talk about timely hitting - trailing the Padres by 4 going into the bottom of the 9th, Dodgers tie the game with 4 home runs in a row (against just 5 pitches thrown)!
That was followed by a walk-off home run in the bottom of the 10th, after the Padres scored in the top of that inning. |

it's now official - there will be new champ this year, as the White Sox have been eliminated from the AL Wild Card race
Twins and Tigers are in the playoffs, fighting for the right to play the Yanks in the ALDS :p
Poor Royals saw both teams celebrate
It will also be interesting if the Cards can hold on to their NL Central lead, or if they will fold |
