this, I was holding back in this thread, but I can't take it anymore.

For the past few years I've seen this whole "minimal" movement happen, it's irriating. Whatever happened to music with warmth--with life? It's all gone--it's all gone down the drain. Now you have these elitist s who come on here and any song that actually has that, it's just brushed off as "cheese" or "garbage". Oh but wait, now Angello and Ingrosso jump on the minimal bandwagon, and again, the elitists come out of the woodwork and bash the song. What the do you expect from these people? They are just making dance music--there is nothing groundbreaking about any of the minimal artists on the scene--not a god damn thing. They all follow the same god damn formula, song after song. It's fifteen ing minutes of a kick and some filtered synth. How on earth is that ing groundbreaking? It's not. The sheep just give into all the hype--yeah I said it. Holden, Loco Dice, M.A.N.D.Y, and anyone else who hopped on that bull house genre has nothing to be proud of. Who the wants to go to a club and hear eight hours of that? that. I didn't want to be a hater, but I can't hold back anymore. I'm sick and tired of the minimal bandwagon, the electro bandwagon, and most of all, this bull elitist bandwagon. Yeah I know it's an internet forum, and everyone is entitled to their own opinion, but that's mine. I hate minimal, I hate minimal electro-house, and most of all, I hate elitists. People who make minimal house remind me of indie kids, they act like they are so groundbreaking and fresh, when in the end, they are just a bunch of clones of each other, using the same formula to make every god damn song, and in turn, making my god damn ears bleed.

It doesn't make this track any less . And Holden's minimal has a certain flare to it, at least to me.

Other than that, yes, I agree, I don't like Hawtin-esque minimal and the he's spewing out today. I listened to Transitions and every minute I spent searching for something entertaining and the only track that mildly caught my eye was The Tunnel. I guess I can appreciate art, but newer Hawtin and that type of minimal is like the Jackson Pollock of electronic music to me.

ROID RAGE! hehe

very true, but you are not 100% correct. You shouldn't just harp on the minimal & electro bandwagons, its really true for all genres of music. In fact I am inclined to say that it is an integral part of music. 80's rock suffered the same fate, people get into a cool sound and start making their own music. The market gets saturated with so many people that nothing sounds unique, the originators can't even keep up, and you have a dead scene. thats the way music goes IMO.

EDM needs its grunge rock revolution :P

No it's just far worse, and far funnier when TWO people, whom are somewhat well-known and have made fairly good tracks in the past abruptly change their sound and go off experimenting with the end result sounding comparable to an old train running over an unsuspecting vagina.

Now that I can agree with. Once something becomes popular, everyone wants a piece of the cake, and the entire spectrum of it gets bastardized, sad, but true.

but its for this reason that this sort of thing helps the music scene. You have the innovators that come up with new ideas. Then you have all the copy cats that replicate the same idea and recycle it over and over. Then for a period everything sounds the same. Through all of this, there will be a new innovator. It is a cycle and it is necessary imho for the boundaries to continually be pushed.
Porky
weak song. meh.
